The very thing that some of you don't like about this flashlight, is the very thing I LIKE about it. Personally, I'm glad that it doesn't have an external charging port. All you have to do is purchase an additional battery when you purchase this flashlight. On the average, it takes about 3 hours to charge the battery. During that time, you don't have access to your flashlight! With an extra charged battery available, you just simply change the battery to the charged one and you're back in business. Also, an open charging port is just another avenue to introduce dirt, lint, water, etc. to your flashlight. Again, the two battery system is fast and efficient. When this flashlight is used for duty use, I don't have time to plug my flashlight in to charge for a few hours. Just my two pennies worth...
The best charging is magnetic charging and direct battery USB together. Klarus 11/12GT. Klarus only uses those stupid rubber USB flaps now, which is a disappointment
People are just lazy now. Ports are ALWAYS a weak point, threads rarely are. Unscrew the damn things and deal with it. Youre already getting crazy power with rechargeables over lithium batteries as it is. Its senseless imo to add weak points on a duty light. Magnetic charging i could get behind, but olight sucks balls.
@@Enough_Tumbleweed every time i think i might buy an Olight because of its looks and lumen output combined, I see a comment such as this. Why do you say that about Olight so I can continue to gather information for my future inquiries? Thanks for your help
Very good review. I appreciate you don't waste any time and get right to the point with the description and features of the flashlight. I watched many reviews of flashlights, knives and other gear where you sit and listen to presenter talk for 5 minutes before they even open up the box.
I bought this flashlight last year to use with my bow for bowfishing. This light is unbelievablely bright for its size. It definitely has a quick step down from turbo mode and I have to turn the flashlight off and on to keep that brightness since I fish at night. I just bought another today for my AR because it's so durable and bright. I fell in the water before with my bow and all it was fine. I also dropped this on the asphalt road while running once it it works like a charm. It did have some small dents as a result but it's obvious that it's made with some quality materials. For those of you considering I 100% recommend. Also, swapping the batteries and charging the other is very convenient. Note: if you do decide to get the pressure switch for this it only does strobe and the steady beam on turbo brightness.
Just bought this flashlight along with the kydex belt holster and an extra battery so I can always have a fully charged one in the light. I don’t like the fact that you have to charge the battery itself but having an extra battery on hand will work out just fine. Plus with the discount code I basically got the battery for free so that was nice. Great video as always Mr. Crispy. Keep up the good work!!!
I'm a Wildland Firefighter, and the instant strobe is such a welcomed feature when we are coordinating with our Heli pilots with Bucket drops. It lets them see us from the air underneath the tree canopies 💛 Thank you for the great review!
Great review. I have three Fenix torches. In my EDC rotation is their E35 V3. Impressed how compact they made it being a 21700 flashlight. Wish the TK16 V2 could tail stand.
Awesome review, thanks for making the video. I love that you go outside and test it as many reviewers don't seem to get this and just use the light against a wall.
Thank you for this video: This Feniks TK 16 v 2.0 is a really powerful lamp. I bought it yesterday. Together with a suitable case. The different settings are now so easy to set, with the small button. From low light to spotlight. No problem walking with it in the rain or humid conditions. Very solid indeed...!🤞
*Looks a lot like a Klarus, or Nitecore light. They all use the same bezel, same dual buttons at the back etc.* *No having the USB port on the light is a good thing, keeps it more waterproof.*
Im 100% sure Fenix doesnt share parts with other brands...Fenix switches have a Fenix logo in them...theres not too many ways to make a Tactical light so different desings end up looking similar, at least till you have both in hand and can really compare them up close.
Great Review man. Jjust bought this light, its really good. I think have the battery charged directly is one of the biggest benefits over having an external USB C port, because it makes the body of the torch more waterproof
waterproof: good point. I know of a whole raft of lights being swapped out in an industrial setting because the lights have - leaky! - usb ports in the lights' bodies
I have the PD32 v2.0, TK16 v2.0 and Nitecore P20i here and have to say, I really like the TK16 and find it almost the best of the 3. However, there are some points I dislike: - Colour of the light. It's rather greenish. (The Nitecore as well. Both have a Luminus LED) The PD32 v2.0 has by far the better, more neutral colour. - The tailswitches are great, but I get the feeling Fenix and Nitecore could have done better, but probably never will on purpose. For example, if you need the strobe to stay on really fast, both the TK16 v2 and P20i are laborious in how they allow you to do it. (Press strobe/mode butten, then press the power button to lock the strobe mode) This works somewhat with the Fenix light, but in an emergency, it gets tricky since you may not find both buttons instantly and may have to reposition your hand. It's even worse for the Nitecore. Pressing both buttons at the same time, with just your thumb? Good luck. Alternatively, you can also activate both lights normaly and then press the strobe/mode butten for 0.8 sec to lock in strobe. But why so difficult? I would take the button design of the Nitecore and do it as follows: + Tab big button for momentary turbo. Press big button for flashlight on, with turbo being the old mode here. Holding the big button gives you strobe, no matter if the light is already on or still off. + The small embedded button would be used for daily use light modes and can also activate the flashlight. This way, you have a big button for emergencys that you can basically never miss or do anything wrong and you have the small, more hidden one for daily use, when time is no issue anyway. (Please no sidebuttons, I hate to have to rotate the light) Switch wise, the PD32 v2.0 takes the crown. So easy to access everything you need. No mistakes can be made. - Rather low runtime at 30lumen (43h compared to the PD32 v2 with 89h) Besides that, it's an awesome light. Especially doing 3100 lumens is just fun and lights up so much space with just that tiny device. I'm not sure if I keep it though. PD32 v2s colour is just way better. Btw. the Nitecore is going back for sure. Great light no doubt, but too spcialized for a normal joe like me.
I lost mine a couple weeks ago..I guess I dropped it and didn't notice. Was the best flashlight hands down. It's easy to carry, memory mode, instant strobe, all weather proof, tough quality, brighter than a car headlight. Whoever found it by now on the street has one pretty good flashlight to say the very least. 100 bucks down the drain. Probably won't get another 100 bucks especially to even just buy this till idk when. Got it in the first week of july and was working like new still. Usually expensive flashlights end up breaking after a month. 3 1/2 months was working like new. Had a couple of scratches on it already cause I took it everywhere, but was working just like when I first got it.
"Usually expensive flashlights break within 1 month" what brands suck that bad ? I have 5year old Fenix lights that work just like new, exept i have changed the batteries.
About to purchase the tk16 v2 once again...haha. or else I would purchase different Fenix flashlights if I didn't lose it. I'm gonna get the ht32 flashlights they have too .
I just got mine today. I love it. I went for a short drive on a dark logging road. It was brighter than the high beams on my truck. Maybe I have crappy head lights. I like the idea of not having a charge port on the body of the flashlight, it makes it less vulnerable for moisture. Also, I an extra battery.
Great video! Regarding the 'dislikes'- I'm not sure why anyone would ever need to 'tail stand' a flashlight, so that's irrelevant. As far as charging cable attached to the battery itself- it offers the advantage of being able to continue to USE the flashlight (with 2nd battery) while charging. It's a compromise, it can also be put into a charger.
Its not hard to Macguyver a solution to the tail standing issue if it's THAT important, anyway. A piece of cut rubber hose with internal diameter that fits the widest part of the tail cap snugly, pop it on any surface and voila! A tail standing torch.
Nice flashlight, but like others have said, they should have made "Instant Strobe" built into the Large tail switch, not the small one, its too difficult to find the small one in a "panic" situation when every second counts. I also prefer to have an additional side function switch, as sometimes someone may want to carry the light in a daily use position when walking, but still be able to hit strobe or turbo from that position if needed. Only other complaint would be the color temp of the light, its just too warm compared to Olight brand and some others which use a cooler temp. output.
So, first off, I love your reviews. The seem down to earth, and point out all the important features of ANYTHING you review (wallets). And shortcomings. So, here’s an input from a flashlight user, every day. Not tactical, I’m not LEO. But I walk at night in the country, no lights or houses, and I like to see what is walking around me. I also use flashlights a lot when camping. Car, and trailer. Most of the time I’m using a flashlight it is cold and I’m wearing not just gloves, but mittens. All that being said, first, I’ve never needed a light to tail stand. Yeah, sure, it’s neat. But it usually doesn’t work anyway unless your surface is pristine. I HAVE used the magnetic tail on Olights to stick them to either a car hood or a metal horse gate. Magnets are useful. Tailstanding… less so. Second: side switches that only adjust the brightness, but can’t turn on or off are BS. They can be designed right, but it seems that 95% of the time they aren’t. It’s like the designers have never tried to actually use their product. You turn the light on, and then fumble finding the side switch until the need has passed. They need to be huge, or they need to be gone. Olight seems to be, so far, the only company that has a clue on side switches (they’re also power on/off) but even they can’t get the switch designed to use in the dark with gloves. If you are going to have a level adjustment switch separate from power, it needs to at least be co-located. Like the TK16. Third: I wish whatever jackwagon came up with the rave setting for flashlights (strobe) had it shoved up his a%%. Flicker vertigo is a real thing. But you’re not going to get it from a flashlight except in the rare instance a subject is either particularly susceptible due to an uncommon predilection to flicker vertigo, or they are abusing substances that predispose them to it. Which, now that I think about it more…. May call for it in a light LEOs might use. But overall, strobe functions should die. As should an SOS function. If you don’t know enough to trigger your own SOS Morse code, you probably don’t know that you should. I mean, really? If there is any automated function that should be on a flow light, it should be simple beacon. And it should be at a setting that should last for hours. So, now that I’ve ranted for a while, I bought this flashlight after seeing your review. It seems to come close to being well thought out. No side switch. The smaller button would work better as a momentary max output, or not an independent switch at all. Just get rid of strobe. It is a waste of good switch space.
Thanks for your input. I’ll agree on most of your rant except for the strobe function. Maybe I’m susceptible to it but strobe absolutely kills me when I see it. It actually makes me nauseous. It can be very effective when it’s dark and you trigger it, the same as a quick turbo flash. Temporary blindness.
Yeah, I guess I was a little harsh and judgemental regarding the strobe and its effects. I just see it as a wasted function, probably because it has no effect on me (beyond the blinding lumens), and I’ve never used it, at all, except as a curiosity. So, my bad on dissing the strobe.
Excellent review, thank you. Just ordered from myfenix site in the UK. Very useful beam display pointing at the trees as that’s exactly what i’ll be doing with mine, inspecting trees on the rail network prior to felling. Will be interesting to compare against my Warrior 3s during a night shift!
Have you compared yet? What do you think? I have the PD36R, and do not by any means need anything else, but still have the TK16V2 coming in tomorrow. I've been thinking of the Warrior 3s also.
@@mv223 I haven’t yet bud unfortunately. I’m in the same position as you in no way needing the TK16 as I had the W3S first but the TK has defaulted to my night carry. It’s a mighty thing however and without going into huge detail the Olight is the easier carry as it has a recessed tail switch. the TKs tail switch is proud and therefore I need to twist the tail cap every time i use it so i don’t accidentally activate it whilst holstered. A small thing but slightly frustrating nonetheless. It is however a beast of a torch, nice in hand and built like a tank. I’m not using my W3S on rail predominantly because it’s too pretty in case i drop it! ha
Excellent and informative review. My original TK16’s mode switch button lasted about a year. It is the only button that broke out of about twenty Fenix lights that I own. Hopefully that won’t be the case this time as I love the mode switch being at the tail cap.
You're very good giving videos I love this light specially that bezel anybody tries to attack you you put the strobe on and hit him in the face or head with it you'll stop them real quick 👍
An excellent tactical flashlight. I have been using it since 02/24/2022 in the war against the Russian occupiers. This flashlight helps me fight low-flying drones, and once I blinded a tanker with it and our operator Javelina managed to knock out a T-72 tank. And there was also a case when, with its help, we identified and destroyed an enemy sniper. Really unique and versatile flashlight.
Im a huge fan of the control scheme as well. I can't stand all these lights with a million modes and only one button to cycle through them. Every time you use the light, it takes you thirty seconds to get to the mode you want, which is ridiculous. This is a far superior setup, and amazingly efficient. Great review.
The TK16 V2 is one of the nearly perfect tactical flashlights beside the TK25 Red in my eyes. You can tab the mode button as quick as you can the choose the brightness step without having some unwanted mode. It´s idiot save. I don´t wanted an other tactical light with turbo start on the power button, nearly all other lights have this. The TK16 V2 runs with the HT18 battery adapter and 18650 too, like the Nitecore 8A low temperate battery. I´ve got the Warrior, Warrior Pro, Warrior X, M20SX, M3XS-UT, Javelot Pro, PT18 Oatkeeper, EC35II, L16, L17, L18, L19, L30II, L35 Lattice, X10, T28, TM03, P16, P25, P36, MH27UV, XT11GT HD, XT12GT, XT21X, XT32, FX10, 360X3, TN35, BSS V4, SP70, Predator V2.5 Pro, UT90, FD41, TK15UE, TK35UE2018, TK25 Red and TK25 IR at tactical lights, but the Fenix UI on the TK16 and TK25 is really great without starting in turbo against all these ohter lights with different UI´s. Only if you have all you can really decide what´s better. Because of this the TK16 V2 and the TK25 Red are my most picked tactical flashlights in use....and this makes them to my best tactical flashlights ever, I feel so.
How can you not like the fact that you have to take out the battery to charge it ? This makes it more reliable if you have to submerge the flashlight under water. Think tactically 👍
This light is awesome because of the power combined with the beam pattern. You get decent throw and a nice even, wide flood that lights up a huge area. But no battery indicator?
The only real flashlight I ever owned and still own is the Fenix pd36r and man do I love that flashlight . It has all the functionality I need but my next light is going to be pure fun so I think I might go with an imalent because they offer some ridiculously bright lights around the same price as this guy here and because I already own my pd36r which does everything I need it to do so next one is all about fun and bright , 25,000 lumans here I come lol.
Some comments; no charging port, no tail stand. Then I thought about it this is a tactical light, charge port is one more place for dirt to get in, tail stand is when the rifle butt is sitting on the floor and light is pointed up at tent roof. It may get mounted on a pistol or rifle. Cons need another level between turbo and high. As an EDC it needs an eco eco mode 1-5 lumen's.
NO! USB C port with a rubber flap is a terrible design!!!! I'm glad Fenix made one torch without it. Once your rubber flap breaks your torch is exposed, and they don't seal the port with an internal gasket either.
Notice your cameras working better the pictures are a lot clearer now I think you were having problems before cuz your pictures look blurry but now they look really really clear and that's got some distance I'm surprised the bean profiles real nice on it
What is the best light with high lumens with replaceable batteries you can buy and might need ( in a pinch and not fully depend on the OEM battery ) with the ability to charge the OEM battery and have all the features like these? thanks
Tail standing isn’t a big deal to me, but some protection against accidental discharge would be nice. I really like the output and candela numbers of the tk22ue. If they would build it with the dual rear buttons and a magnetic charge port imo it would be the ultimate tac light.
I completely agree with you about instant access to strobe from the tail cap, but just how useful is it really if it does not default to turbo when turned on? I still think Klarus owns the ideal tactical UI. I just wish they made slightly nicer lights. In spite of that wish, I still own 17 klarus lights, and if the light works properly, the UI is perfect.(My opinion)
@@ChrispyThings You are correct. Unlike many other lights, it does include Turbo in its mode memory. I was kind of forgetting that because it is unusual. A little risky but doable if you pay attention to what you are doing and set it to come on Turbo next time.
@@ChrispyThings But only if you deliberately set it to Turbo every time before you turn it off. I would much prefer a a button that guarantees Turbo every time no matter what. If there isn't a button that I can push without knowing what condition the flashlight was left in, it doesn't qualify as a true Tactical but rather a quasi tactical. I have several. A Sunwayman from years ago. Acebeam L16, Olight M2R Warrior and Warrior mini.
Such a great video such a great platform you have and I love the music so cool with the light flashing you did a great job I need one of these flashlights Phoenix such a great company really high and technology 🇺🇸😎🖐️🖐️👌💖
02:38 How are the dual switches new? As shown, they function exactly as with the old Tk16. They are also its achilles' heel: one of my 2 tks is in repairs for the 2nd time due to, you guessed it, tail switch problems. Had the same happen to Surefires and other fenix torches, but any dual tail switch seems more vulnerable: more components to break. That's why I chose the new fenix pd32 V2 that offers instastrobe through the tailcap but with just one button. For their prices, you get a lot but the tk16 is the only one I regret buying. My second tk16 is weapon mounted with a remote switch. That switch seems less prone to malfunctions. That being said, I like your no-nonsense review style
I'm saving my money there's a bunch of great throwers out there but I particularly like this Phoenix light you're just a little bit too high if they came down a little bit on price maybe $20 less I like it the fact that has that glass breaker I like how they designed that anyway great video thank you for sharing 😎🖐️👍
I pre-ordered this light from the Fenix website by the time I reached 7:47 in your review. I purchased the Olight Warrior X Pro and do not like the limitation of the LO 300 to HI 2300 lumens with nothing in between. Plus I think Fenix stands alone with the feel and sturdiness of their tail switches. I appreciate your "straight to the point" review of this light without all of the unboxing mumbo-jumbo.
I'm hesitant to try out fenix as I don't appreciate there lack of transparency. They advertise 3100 lumens but they don't state how long it stays on turbo before it steps down. I love how olight clearly says turbo for 2 min @3200 lumens, then steps to 800. I have a perun 2, seeker 2 pro, warrior mini, and a i1r 2. I've been very happy
@@raffighookassian1724 - Expecting any single battery flashlight to run at 3100 lumens for any significant amount of time is an unreasonable expectation. 5 years ago 1000 lumens running a single 18650 was the standard. Today, a single cell flashlight running a 21700 can run 1600 to 1800 lumens for similar amounts of time. My Olight Warrior X Pro was a huge disappointment. At 2300 lumens you can see the step down after less than 30 seconds. Having only 2 settings of LO 300 and HI 2300 with nothing in between makes it very impractical. It spend more time on the charger than on my belt. I have purchase Olight, Nitecore, Lumentop, Acebeam, RovyVon, Fenix, Klarus, Thrunite and a few others. I have never been disappointed with Fenix or RovyVon.
What disposable batteries replaced this battery? I have the original TK16 and the 18650 has disposable batteries you can use (2 cr123a). Without the ability to use disposables as a back up I'm not interested. What's new about the tail switch? My original TK16 functions exactly the same as that.
Love your videos you're a man well versed in the flashlights yes thank you I think that flashlight is awesome I'm not going to gripe about it not table standing cuz I got so many other flashlights I can make them table stand but that is a very nice design flashlight I think this company is excellent I think the engineers that develop the flashlights are excellent thank you for sharing this video you're awesome I shared I subscribed so you should have a lot of followers thank you again your best friend from Carrollton Georgia 👍
Sorry, but the "tactical" part on this light is direct access to the strobe and the tungsten in the bezel? No direct access/shortcut to Turbo nor the lowest mode? I must have a different notion of tactical... Thanks for the review 👍🏻🔦
@@ChrispyThings Thanks for the reply ;) I am not a "tactical" guy but I'd expect some different features in a light like this! The 2 switches are nice, the shape of the flashlight is too an eventually other specs/features, but I would not consider it a tactical flashlight per se if instant access to turbo (and eventually to lowest setting) are not available without having it memorized. But it is just an opinion ;) Thanks again for this and other reviews!!!
This is what I always said to Fenix on their facebook page. Dump the dual switch and ad shorcut to low/turbo and strobe to all flashlight. They listened just to a part of my request.
@@ChrispyThings I wonder if there is any chance that the second button could be reprogrammed from direct Strobe to direct Turbo. Some other Fenix flashlight have two modes like Daily and Tactical.
I'm curious if you'll ever post a review of fenix's newer LEP lights... I've been searching but the other guys don't get as thorough as you do, and I'm really considering getting one
Great video. Yeah I like to sit my torches on their tail and use it as a candle too. One question, how do I know when the battery is charged? Thank you, Regards Pat
If I need to tail stand mine, I just fit a piece of cut rubber hose to the back of the torch and pop that on any surface. The internal diameter of the cut hose piece needs to snugly fit the widest part of the tailcap and extend a little past the buttons. USB charging ports are good for convenience, but could be a huge pain in the A if they fail. The USB charge port on the battery is a better idea I think. I carry a spare battery in its case, so I always have a fully charged battery on standby if I need it. If the USB charge port fails on the battery, then I'll just charge it with a regular 21700 battery charger, or just spend 20 bucks on a new battery. No big deal, really.
So I'm stuck between this, the nitecore p20ix or the olight warrior X Pro. If you had to chose 1 purely based on light, no glass breaking or any of that jazz. Which would you buy?
I apologize if this question has already been answered, but is there a way I can click the main button one time and activate strobe. I don’t want to have to keep holding the small button down, so that’s why I’m asking, thanks!
how long before it won't hit turbo? my pdv40 v2 could only hit turbo if the battery was 85% or over. Anything under 85% it wouldn't hit turbo so I sold it.
@@ChrispyThings yeah if you could. I loved my pd40 v2 but I had to sell it due to that limiting feature. I messaged fenix and they said they needed maximum battery levels to hit 3k. Shame
@@Studat Most high lumen (2000+) flashlights I've seen can't reach full turbo with single cell that is not fully charged. Some people are fooled by turbo still working but not realizing that the lumens are much less with a half full battery.
Just bought this flashlight and it's not bad for a tactical entry level light. The specs are very misleading when it comes to throw distance. You will be lucky to get more than 100m and nowhere near the 380m advertised on the box. I'm honestly on the fence on if I will return it for something higher quality.
Nah, an exterior charging port is just a way for water to get in. You could use a regular rechargeable battery, but that would require a separate charger..that's the route I chose for my PD36R.
@@M_E_T_R_O__9 the torch is more durable without a flippy floppy flappy flap that could render the torch unusable near water if it falls off. Think tactically man.
Far better beam shots. I would suggest saying how far things are from you. Overall I like that light. Love the tailswitch setup. Good question previously asked. How strong a battery do you need to hit the turbo levels? I'm not really into the lights that put out huge lumen numbers that step down to normal in short periods of time.

The only "good" external ports are ones protected with a "ring with threads", also every external port should be IP68 protected even without a cover.

I love this light! I have both v1 and v2. V1 stays next to my bed for that unexpected bump in the night. V2 I carry in my vehicle.
Fenix is a beast brand! I have had the pd35 for years and I love it!
PD35tac is my pocket edc since 2017
Yes they are. I have been using the LD 22 for what seems like forever. I just bought this light the tk16 v2 and can’t wait to get it in the mail.
I have almost 25+ flashlights by fenix Nitecore Jetbeam Olight Mecarmy Maglite.

Great review. I have three Fenix torches. In my EDC rotation is their E35 V3. Impressed how compact they made it being a 21700 flashlight. Wish the TK16 V2 could tail stand.
Same here, if it could tail stand it would be great. Having also focus capability, but rather wanted to tail stand.
Awesome review, thanks for making the video. I love that you go outside and test it as many reviewers don't seem to get this and just use the light against a wall.
I go outside for every beam demonstration. Thanks for watching!
I agree with other comments he gets straight to the point, straight into the light, got my interest well done
Strobe is usless for tactical !
Thanks for review !
*Looks a lot like a Klarus, or Nitecore light. They all use the same bezel, same dual buttons at the back etc.*
*No having the USB port on the light is a good thing, keeps it more waterproof.*
I’ve never, ever had a waterproof port on the outside become a problem.
I want a port on the outside, it’s perfectly fine.
Now that’s a good review makes me consider buying one especially cause of the tail switches
I have the PD32 v2.0, TK16 v2.0 and Nitecore P20i here and have to say, I really like the TK16 and find it almost the best of the 3.
However, there are some points I dislike:
- Colour of the light.
(Press strobe/mode butten, then press the power button to lock the strobe mode)
This works somewhat with the Fenix light, but in an emergency, it gets tricky since you may not find both buttons instantly and may have to reposition your hand. It's even worse for the Nitecore. Pressing both buttons at the same time, with just your thumb? Good luck. Alternatively, you can also activate both lights normaly and then press the strobe/mode butten for 0.8 sec to lock in strobe. But why so difficult? I would take the button design of the Nitecore and do it as follows:
+ Tab big button for momentary turbo.
(Please no sidebuttons, I hate to have to rotate the light)
Switch wise, the PD32 v2.0 takes the crown. So easy to access everything you need. No mistakes can be made.
- Rather low runtime at 30lumen (43h compared to the PD32 v2 with 89h)
Besides that, it's an awesome light.
Excellent information ... thanks
Happened to me multiple times.. unfortunately
About to purchase the tk16 v2 once again...haha. or else I would purchase different Fenix flashlights if I didn't lose it. I'm gonna get the ht32 flashlights they have too .
Instant strobe is the winner for me. I will be buying this for self-defense while walking home in the city at night.
Excellent review. No BS and feature-rich display. Love it. I even love the music!
Thank you so much for this amazing and exceptionally useful review!
You just made me order this flashlight.
Best wishes to you from Germany!
It’s brighter than the brights on my suv too.
Very good runtimes, pretty impressed!!Would love to also see a review of the new Fenix PD-32 V2!!
Great point.
Its not hard to Macguyver a solution to the tail standing issue if it's THAT important, anyway. A piece of cut rubber hose with internal diameter that fits the widest part of the tail cap snugly, pop it on any surface and voila! A tail standing torch.
I’ve been using the original tk16k at work for years. It’s been beaten to shit and still works like a champ. Law enforcement approved all day.
Great info. Thanks!
Thanks for the review. Just one correction - dual tactical switches are nothing new or upgraded, old TK16 had it two and I loved it.
Only other complaint would be the color temp of the light, its just too warm compared to Olight brand and some others which use a cooler temp. output.
Just bought this hopefully I like it
So, first off, I love your reviews.
The perfect review I need ..Thanks a lot
Thanks for watching!
A good reason for the usb port for battery is inside , because of no water, dust dirt to enter the battery charging port.
Great review thank you.was looking at the TK11 but the TK16 might take that spot.
I’m not using my W3S on rail predominantly because it’s too pretty in case i drop it! ha
@@squarepantsist Thanks for the reply brotha.
What do I think of it? I love it. That instant strobe from off feature makes it a buy for me.
Excellent and informative review. My original TK16’s mode switch button lasted about a year. It is the only button that broke out of about twenty Fenix lights that I own. Hopefully that won’t be the case this time as I love the mode switch being at the tail cap.
Well know in a year. So far so good though!
Sooo?
Mine broke too on my TK16.. is that still an issue with the V2.0?
You're very good giving videos I love this light specially that bezel anybody tries to attack you you put the strobe on and hit him in the face or head with it you'll stop them real quick 👍
An excellent tactical flashlight. I have been using it since 02/24/2022 in the war against the Russian occupiers. This flashlight helps me fight low-flying drones, and once I blinded a tanker with it and our operator Javelina managed to knock out a T-72 tank. And there was also a case when, with its help, we identified and destroyed an enemy sniper. Really unique and versatile flashlight.
Has it been relatable they have it for sale on the website for $99 I’m going to buy it.
AND THEN I ..............WOKE UP ! Or turned the page ! LOL
Ordered one that will be here on Wednesday night! And it will be tested Wednesday night!
Lol
I’m debating on this light or a Olight warrior I can’t make my mind up what you think or your opinion by chance how does Fenix compare to Olight?
Bro that was an extraordinary review 💪
Thanks!
Very good broadcast thank you for sharing awesome light got to have it now 👍🖐️😎💲😍
How can you not like the fact that you have to take out the battery to charge it ?
This makes it more reliable if you have to submerge the flashlight under water. Think tactically 👍
I just don’t.
It’s not that I hate it, it’s simply more convenient to charge from a USB port on the outside.
Only good external charging ports are ones that are USB C IP68 protected without a cover and also covered by a "ring with threads"
Just picked one up for 80 bucks shipped of their site with a discount code. Replacing my PD35 V2.0 from 2018.
Awesome flashlight good review 👍
This light is awesome because of the power combined with the beam pattern. You get decent throw and a nice even, wide flood that lights up a huge area. But no battery indicator?
The only real flashlight I ever owned and still own is the Fenix pd36r and man do I love that flashlight . It has all the functionality I need but my next light is going to be pure fun so I think I might go with an imalent because they offer some ridiculously bright lights around the same price as this guy here and because I already own my pd36r which does everything I need it to do so next one is all about fun and bright , 25,000 lumans here I come lol.
I just picked up the Sofrin SP70 for fun and it is Stupid Bright 🌞 5500 Lumens and it throws forever .
At least some Fenix USB C ports are waterproof even without the Rubber flap...
I agree with everything you said. I too can’t decide between this and the Tk22Ue :(
Accidental discharge Protection? It has coated threads so Unscrew the tail cap a tiny bit and it cant be turned on.
True. But it does have a memory. So technically that is direct to turbo if needed.
20 years if humans are still here hey guys i got this 1 billion lumen light as you can see we can light up the surface of the moon pretty nicely 😟
Can we use tactical flashlights for general purpose? So if I buy this flashlight, would it be an ideal option for night walks and nature walks?
Great video! I’ve just bought one and it only lasts around 1h 30 mins in high mode, is this normal?
The best video for this flashlight. Can you please tell me if this will fit Thyrm Switchback Large?
Love your videos you're a man well versed in the flashlights yes thank you I think that flashlight is awesome I'm not going to gripe about it not table standing cuz I got so many other flashlights I can make them table stand but that is a very nice design flashlight I think this company is excellent I think the engineers that develop the flashlights are excellent thank you for sharing this video you're awesome I shared I subscribed so you should have a lot of followers thank you again your best friend from Carrollton Georgia 👍
Thanks bud!
Olight have really nailed that magnetic charger on the Seeker 2 Pro, wish this had that somehow...
Sorry, but the "tactical" part on this light is direct access to the strobe and the tungsten in the bezel?
No direct access/shortcut to Turbo nor the lowest mode?
I must have a different notion of tactical...
Thanks for the review 👍🏻🔦
The direct access to turbo is the memory, other than that there’s no dedicated button to turbo like strobe has.
@@ChrispyThings Thanks for the reply ;)
I am not a "tactical" guy but I'd expect some different features in a light like this!
The 2 switches are nice, the shape of the flashlight is too an eventually other specs/features, but I would not consider it a tactical flashlight per se if instant access to turbo (and eventually to lowest setting) are not available without having it memorized.
But it is just an opinion ;)
Thanks again for this and other reviews!!!
I just did this one!

Definitely nice that you don't have to buy a brand new charger if you want that light.
Great video. Yeah I like to sit my torches on their tail and use it as a candle too.
One question, how do I know when the battery is charged?
Thank you,
Regards
Pat
The battery led on the positive end glows red even charging. If I remember right it just stops glowing red when fully charged.
@@ChrispyThings Thanks mate.
Got any bright ideas how I can get it to stand up on it's tail? My little romantic light for me and my girlfriend. Lol.
I have this light and yes it's very bright I just wish it could tail stand. And maybe have built-in USB charging .
Not having a charging port is one less opportunity that moisture or dirt can infiltrate the body. Thats one way to look at it I guess.
I was curious whether or not you could charge those batteries with regular chargers! Good to know!
@@emmettpetry5339 not sure..... But it's still very easy my cell phone uses the same cable
Cool Review 👍🏼😎
Thanks!
Is this still good today? Or is there something better? I'm looking for an over 3000 Lumen flashlight that's pocketable.
So I'm stuck between this, the nitecore p20ix or the olight warrior X Pro. If you had to chose 1 purely based on light, no glass breaking or any of that jazz. Which would you buy?
Warrior x pro
I apologize if this question has already been answered, but is there a way I can click the main button one time and activate strobe. I don’t want to have to keep holding the small button down, so that’s why I’m asking, thanks!

It actually has a spring at the head and tail. Both ends.

No plans on reviewing that one unfortunately
@@ChrispyThings It´s so sad..
Battery out charging is nicer isn’t it? If you break the port on a battery it’d be a lot less bad than on the light.
how long before it won't hit turbo? my pdv40 v2 could only hit turbo if the battery was 85% or over. Anything under 85% it wouldn't hit turbo so I sold it.
I would have to test that. I’ll try and run it down and see if it still hits turbo
@@practicalguy973 I hear what you are saying but on the pd40r v2 is was ridiculous
Which light do you prefer between the TK16 V2 and the PD36R Pro?
Just bought this flashlight and it's not bad for a tactical entry level light. The specs are very misleading when it comes to throw distance. You will be lucky to get more than 100m and nowhere near the 380m advertised on the box. I'm honestly on the fence on if I will return it for something higher quality.
For $100 it’s prob the best flashlight you can get considering the lumens alone.
I call bs..my fenix pd35r throws further than that and the tk16 with its larger bezel throws farther than mine.
See now with less Lumens this light the beam seem brighter more focused than the E7 in your demo could it have been the conditions that night?
Quite possible.
Man I’m digging everything except the rechargeable battery. I agree there should have been a direct plug
Agree. That’s the main thing that puts me off this.
Nah, an exterior charging port is just a way for water to get in. You could use a regular rechargeable battery, but that would require a separate charger..that's the route I chose for my PD36R.
Same, charging seems a complete afterthought... what a let down from their design team.
I’ll need to test more

Hopefully I'm about done, TK16 V-2, olight marauder Mini, sofirn sc31 pro, thrunite t3. But the new nitecore P23I is looking at me funny.
Sure, guys might like to stand the flashlight up..but with that bezel and the beating it can take it stands up just fine
I’m a diehard Olight user but their changes to the power switch have me shopping for a new alternative. The Fenix has been on my radar but these raised tail switches seem extreme. Seems like they will be a sure fail point. Getting torn off or broken if the light is dropped.
What don’t you like about the new Olight power switches?
You have to hold the power button or spin the dimmer to power on the light.@@ChrispyThings
Hi, great review! Have subbed.
What would you choose out of the following.
Fenix Pd40r
Fenix Tk16v2
Olight m2rpro
Thanks!
Tough choice. But it’s a toss up between the TK16 and the m2r
@@ChrispyThings thanks for the reply!
Tk16 it is. I have a few 21700 batteries, so it'll be good to be able to use them.
Thanks.
nitecore the first who introduce dual tail switch with strobe ready, and its start since its P10 first generation about many years ago.
👍🏻
Its biggest drawback is high and turbo mode run time is almost equal...
3:44 - klarus has had dual tail switches for instant strobe and instant turbo , even instant low and instant turbo, since 2015.
does the thyrm switchback 2.0 fit this flashlight?
