  • Today, October 1st, 2021, marks four years since I bought my Bullet Strat. It was my first electric guitar, and so far my only one (the red one from my Uptown Girl cover doesn't count cuz it's my brother's). This guitar, which I got as an early 15th birthday gift, has become one of my most cherished possessions not only since it's my first proper guitar, but also because it is the instrument on which I learned a lot of my favorite songs, my first solos, noodled around to attempt to make my own riffs, and most importantly, began to really make tons of progress on. So, I figured what better way to celebrate this than to do a cover of the very first song that I ever learned to properly play from start to finish. And that song was Closure. Being a high school sophomore at the time, I had just gotten into bands like Slipknot and A Day To Remember a year prior, and looking for more bands to listen to. Asking Alexandria was one of the bands whose riffs I started to learn as I began to challenge myself with slightly more technical material. Prior to this, I just learned the main riff of a song or I played random open chords with a capo on a random fret in hopes that it sounded alright (they probably sounded like crap). Closure was the first full song I learned to play with actual riffs. That said, it's been four years since then, and needless to say, I had become much more proficient in recent years, so as I relearned the song, I also decided to learn parts that I have avoided due to how intimidating they initially were for 15 year old me. Anyways, enough of my rambling. As usual, the backing track was edited using Audacity. Enjoy! Take care!
P.S. The fact that this cover was released on the same day as AA's new album is a coincidence. I love the new songs just as much as the old ones.
