If you watching that game its clear pep decission are correct .. On the early 2nd half city midfield are clearly lost, can't complete so many pass because getting pressured basically they getting owned thats why Liverpool are so dominant in the 2nd half. So pep need to think fast to prevent anything bad happen and after they subbed in kovacic and doku city kinda back in the game and can hold the ball more.

KDB thinking he knows better than Pep because he is the star of the team. No other player was deserving to be subbed off like him on the day. City's midfield was being torn apart and he is the played that doesn't really have those legs compared to Phil and Silva. At that point Pep was more worried about them conceding another goal and that was his best option. You just have to do better as a Star player in games like these and then throw tantrums. Well deserved to be benched for the next two games

Subbing off the best player itw in the biggest game of the season was always gonna be controversial, ultimately KDB couldve been a difference maker even if he wasn’t connecting like usually in the final third. Mateo did bring a calmness to the game but that could’ve lowered their chances at getting a 2nd goal.
