These 5th Generation fighters… Are these the same type Tom Cruise mentioned in the Top Gun sequel or are they a completely different type of aircraft??? I’m just curious 🤔🤚
The "villian" aircraft in Top Gun Maverick is the Sukhoi Su-57. Physically, quite a bit larger than the F-35 but have greater kinetic performance and range but less stealth. The ethos behind the design of both craft are a bit different.
But the F-35 is not meant to be an intercept aircraft! The F-35 would be chicken-feed for any 4th generation fighter it was intercepting inside visual range. A much better choice to respond to enemy plane intercepts would be the F-35 Ii a very fast, Bible and cost effect intercepted.
