I agree with the new tech. involved in new rig. being frustrating. I do like newer powertrains in older rigs though, they do have advantages, but wanting power windows shouldn't mean I HAVE to get some electrical package with things I don't want and certainly don't need. You might look into an aftermarket fuel injection system and rear disk brakes... Good luck with the build...
Good points. The cold morning starts with this manual choke and gassy smell have me considering a fuel injection system already. I really want to see if this engine will be powerful enough to pull my trailer before I dump more money into it. If it’s too weak then I’ll be swapping it out for an entirely new engine anyway.
I sold my 2017 Ram 3500 and bought a 65 El Camino and drive it every day and have for almost 4 years. I want a 71-72 K20 Suburban or Pickup next. I have the same feelings about new cars and I have been a mechanic for 30 years
Just a tip for that steering wheel club. They were just cut the steering wheel and remove the club then drive your truck away😂 you’re better off putting a secret kill switch on the ignition someplace🤘🍻
Thanks Mike. Like every security device, if someone wants it bad enough they’ll get it. The idea is to make it difficult for the casual opportunistic thief. The club is a step in that direction. A kill switch is another step. But I’d rather them see a major hurdle like the club BEFORE they smash a window to get in only to discover it won’t start. I had a club actually prevent a theft before on a different vehicle. They broke in and tried to drill the club lock but couldn’t. Cost me about $100 to fix the break-in damage but that’s it. A smarter thief would’ve done what you suggested and cut the steering wheel. Thieves usually aren’t as smart as you or I.
A/C is a tough one because the systems I’ve seen take up a lot of space under the dash. But honestly this is the mod my wife wants the most since we’ll be using it primarily in the summer.
Can you provide the product info for the hood cable lock you installed, I have been looking for one for my F100 which has the same problem as the Suburban, built in a time of a larger percentage of people not being thieves
Very cool. Cant wait to see the progress
