I'd like to see you react to the longer Drumeo video but I'd say react to/listen to the original songs first, as some of the songs in the Drumeo video are significantly abridged/shortened to show off the drum parts.

He is 100% a gospel drummer with an absolute shitload of shed sessions under his belt or... mask I guess. But if you've watched a lot of shed sessions, you'll start to notice there's a thing all those guys do with quick timing switches and accents that no other drummers do (mostly because nothing they are playing needs something like that, outside of gospel drummers anyways). But it works here because Token's "genre-less" songwriting kinda leans in to create opportunities for II to use that stuff to setup song composition transitions, timing transitions, and vocal accents. It's a really innovative approach to adapting a very clear style that has pretty limited use cases to give the illusion that it was made for it this whole time. But make no mistake, pretty much everything he does is just like he said. 1 part pridgen, 1 part royster jr., 1 part eric moore, and 1 part Abe Cunningham from deftones.
The hour long interview gets you a pretty wide variety of their "styles" and you get to see him use the pad/triggers on some songs which is fun to see as well. I would totally watch you covering that whole thing. Only bad part of that video is the random shots of the drumeo guy just fan boy stalking II in the background but it's an easy enough to get past that.
One of the best reactions to this IMHO. Nicely done. Your insights from a sound engineer/technical drum point of view were really well stated and I'm here for it. Cheers.
Hey I appreciate this so much 🙏🙏 yes I was a FOH tech for a long time as well as a stage manager, monitor tech all the shit lol but I always thought drums brought the energy to the party - they are such a cool art and get missed or left behind so much. Very excited for this journey together 🙏
I’m also very drawn to ii for those reasons you said. His drum parts are intricate yet he’s not flashy. He doesn’t over use the double bass, but only to accent certain parts of the song. Amazing musicianship all around. I can’t wait for you to watch the hour long Drumeo one! You’re spot on about the gospel fill, lol
What's hilarious to me is ii started out a death metal drummer in bands that never took off but he was also session drummer and drum teacher and that's what you see when he drums in sleep token.
The groove is just amazing...the more you dig you will see. They sont want to be flashy...vessel literally cries live on some songs ..there hard to put in words ita just the feels
That snare is a 6x13 super solid. All DW wood and all istanbuls. That triplet linear fill he explained and mid phrase fill stuff is textbook gospel, although played like a metal masterpiece. Good video man 🤙🏼
PLEASEEEE listen to the hour long drumeo video with ii showcasing his extreme skill. He uses the entire kit, mixes in the electronic pad, and writes the grooviest beats to all of sleep token's songs!!!! His cymbal use is INSANE. Other great songs that showcase his drumming that are not in the drumeo video are "Hypnosis" "Jaws" "The Offering" and "Telomeres." The way his drumming is so busy yet not TOO much to overpower a song is such talent. Ahhh I could go on about him forever. Please check out more of his stuff. He also has drum play throughs on the sleep token youtube channel for "Hypnosis" "Like That" and "Alkaline." The hour long drumeo video is great but it does cut out a lot of the songs.
Love your reactions. Sleep token is an adventure. So many great songs I'm excited to see you check out. I'd be down for the full length drumeo session, but maybe get that track list and react to the originals first. The drumeo session is great, but I'd say you'd probably appreciate hearing a lot of those songs from the albums first and probably appreciate II's commentary on them more as well.
Hahahaha oh man I’m so happy about that - I don’t know if you notice me immediately let off the gas with the gospel stuff cause I didn’t wanna speak out of turn 😂 it really is in the fill style - it’s got like a late pocket feel almost!
So I'm a new subscriber. Excellent reaction, he’s mesmerizing to watch drum. You'll like the other Drumeo, I learned quite a bit about his style and im not a drummer. As far as what fans are called, I prefer worshippers. There's new lingo with ST. Concerts are rituals where everyone worships the offering, music. I've been hooked since June when Will Ramos was on The Charismatic Voice showing her The Summoning. The only thing you ruined by watching this before the studio version is there's no drum solo in it. Have fun. I've never done a live reaction, but one with the first Drumeo offering would be good.
Great video. Loved your comments and insights. I just found Sleep Token 3 weeks ago and being a Rush fan the musical talent coming from them is so wonderful and fresh. Would love to do a live reaction of the full drumeo video or a complete album one. II’s vibe and style behind the kit is so relaxed yet so calculated. Just a Joy to watch and listen to.
I would love for you to do the 54-minute interview with song playthroughs. He is an awesome drummer and unique with his creativity. I enjoy your insights and I think you'll have a lot of fun with it. Only a handful of people have actually reacted to the whole thing, so please record the livestream and post it on your channel. It's an awesome opportunity to rank for it with all the Sleep Token fans out there.

Oooooh good call! Pinning for more feedback 💪💪

The hour long Drumeo video should be next. A TON of insight into his influences etc.
Thanks for this I’m taking tabs lol
100% agree, I've watched both Drumeo's offerings several times.
II is never an overly flashy drummer. He looks like he’s going for a stroll in the park when he plays

Hhha take a drink every time…. Thanks for the heads up
You can really tell how good a drummer is by what makes them go "mmmm". ii doesnt play for the fans, he plays for other drummers lmao

I just found ST a few weeks ago. I haven’t been able to stop listening to them. Pretty epic huh, they’re just so bloody good.

Bro, you are legit! ii mentions in his 1 hour drumio video that part of his inspiration is from gospel music. You are right on! Worship!!!!
This young man is not just a phenomenal drummer, he is intelligent& well spoken WORSHIP❤

He's such a tasteful drummer
I'd hang out live! That was a fun reaction!
The drummer was a gospel drummer. That's pretty cool that you would notice that.

It's a gospel album...LOTS of gospel elements within a heavier context.

Live reaction would be cool. Sleep Token are unique and amazing. My favorite band!
3:18 lol Turns out II is a big Eric Moore fan. I've always liked the knowledge and energy you bring to reactions. Can't wait for more sleep token.
Ahaha unreal - I mean it shows!!! Also pumped for this journey
Would absolutely love seeing you react to the hour long one ❤
great reaction, please do "higher"! Also, the name of the fanbase - Worshipers 😉
You should react to Ashton Irwin"s(5SOS drummer) drumeo it where he breaks down 4 5SOS songs. And tells where he learned drums.
The fanbase are “followers” or “worshippers”
