  • Conversations about death and dying happen too infrequently in our death-phobic culture, and so do conversations about addiction. These are truly among some of the most important and needed conversations for us to have, however. When we talk about death and the uncomfortable, often emotional, accompanying aspects of death, this promotes resilience, helps us process our grief, and strengthens our mental health. When we talk openly about addiction, this helps us understand and learn what we can and cannot do to support our loved ones who struggle with addiction. Jarlene shares her experience of suddenly losing a sibling who had a history of addiction, and then witnessing his organ donor journey after death. #death #organdonation #addiction

My condolences for all your family, & friends who knew your brother. My 6 brothers all recovered alcoholics. I know about the pain of addiction. My dad & his dad were alcoholics. My dad & grandpa are long-time gone to heaven, I hope. My 2 older bros, gone. They did have sobriety, & lived to 74 & 78, so, that part was great for them, & their families. Yes, addiction effects the entire family. Thank goodness my 6 bros got help via 12 Step program. May God bless & comfort you all during this difficult time. ❤️🙏🙏🙏❤️
