  • January marks the beginning of Veganuary. We took on the challenge of sticking to a diet diet for a day to see what products were on offer for someone following a vegan diet.
During this challenge we found that a lot of 'vegan' products had may contain dairy and egg. To us, we did not deem these products vegan. A staggering 39% of vegan products have traces of dairy and egg, so we pose the question, are these products actually vegan?
May contains come from cross contamination of other products which are being produced on the same line as products that contain a certain allergen. This means in the case of vegan products that they may contain dairy and egg.
Vegan is regarded to be free of any animal based products, so for someone with a dairy or egg allergy they may believe that vegan products are safe for them to eat. However, this is certainly not the case. Vegan does not mean allergen safe. If you have an allergy to dairy or egg please be aware that vegan products may contain traces of dairy and egg.
We would like there more awareness on what vegan truly means. At Creative Nature we believe that a vegan product with may contain dairy or egg should not be allowed to brand themselves as vegan. We see this statement as being very misleading and false advertising to some extent.
A vegan would not like their food touching meat so why should it be in contact with dairy or egg?
We would love to hear your thoughts on this issue so please comment below and give us a thumbs up and of course a follow for more videos!
