Today's games are just meh. Maybe I'm getting older, but they're not the same. As part of the generation that helped contribute by buying those PS1 and PS2 games, I would expect more. I think some of those old IP's need to come back. I know there's a Gex Collection on the horizon, which is welcomed, but what about some of the others. Like Legacy Of Kain, Timesplitters, Maximo, Vigilante 8, Rogue Trip, Twisted Metal, SSX, etc. I know that some of those companies might not be around, but some are.
I'm turning 40 soon: *NOTHING* is _"the same"._ 😥 You can't go back and you can't stop the hands of time. Even if gaming was frozen in place, YOU would change and it wouldn't feel the same. Best to adapt and learn to like new things - maybe get out of your comfort zone. But no amount of nostalgia, money or even having the same hardware/developers/companies/industry will make it 1993 again, 1998, 2003.... or even 2008. That period of the world existed in a brief moment of linear time, and though it sometimes feels like just yesterday - those days are *LONG* since passed us by. Be grateful that you still have fond memories of a great time, because this is the hardest part of aging... not just your mortality (and pain)... but seeing the world become unrecognizable, and less like the one you took for granted. 🤷♂

The only thing I cared about was this until dawn sequel/reboot whatever it was.
What’s interesting is the increase in graphical technology over the years has pretty much resulted in games that all look the same. I can honestly say I have zero interest in these games / generation and don’t regret not picking up a PS5 / XBO.
The 16 bit and 32-bit era had such a distinct charm to them that has never been matched.. the PS3 and Xbox 360 error delivered exactly what we were looking for and what we thought gaming would be terms of HD quality
@@MrCarpediem6 agree. The eras in gaming had such variety that was an unintended consequence of the hardware changing through the years. Things seem to feel pretty stagnant now and the term Triple A pretty much means to recoup the millions that have been spent to market the title, there is less risk taking involved.
Very grateful for back catalogues. I can fire up Capcom vs SNK 2 any time and enjoy the work that went into the 2D visuals. It sometimes feels like the golden era has washed past us which is a little sad.
Instead of buying the latest gen and subscribing to online and glorified rental service when these new systems came out I bought a tg16 and a bunch of games I used to and still enjoy. Also been rocking the ps3 playing games that are games.
A couple of them look like games I might rent from Blockbuster if that was still an option but none of them are anything that would make me upgrade from PS4.

The new Astro Bot game (a full game like Astro’s Playroom!) alone made the presentation worth it. Astro’s Playroom was 1000% better than it should have any right to be. That will be a day-one purchase for me.
When I think 💬🤔 PlayStation. I 💬🤔 think unusual titles like Katamari Damacai, D&D type Diablo games, The SOCOM Series, SackBoy, Grand Turismo Series, Shadow of the Colossus Series, Silent Hill Series, Rare Psygnoisis games: Blast Radius/Colony Wars/Shadow of the Beast, etc...
Tell me why, the only game that I would look forward to is the Astrobot game. They all though seem to be some clone of another. I understand why these companies don't take risks anymore, and just make games like others that sell. I have not touched my PS5 in months.

AstroBot looked amazing,loved the first two games.Behemoth and Aliens VR looked great.Where the Winds,Path of Exile 2,that other Souls style game looked good too.Majority of the games are coming this year too.This is a state of play not the big Showcase that comes in September,not sure why people get so overhyped for these smaller presentations.Solid B for me also.Don’t know who the hell asked for Until Dawn remaster,I loved the game when it came out but geez that was stupid

I have my Zelda, and I have my Mario. I'm a happy camper. MSFT and Sony don't really have any heavy hitters this generation, and that's sad. It is sad because both companies don't want to tell their audience, 'hey, guys. These are just funny looking PCs. Install SteamOS on them if you want; here are the tools to do so.'
Nintendo has a great identity with their brand. Sony and Microsoft are proverbially jacking the hell off, and they haven't had the gumption to make something compelling since 2010.
PC is fine. Sometimes I just want to lay in bed with a controller. Zero fuss, zero hassle, low cost of entry, consistent product offerings from the first party.

i'm surprised no mentioning that the breath of the wild game designer is behind infinity nikki.
Its because they see a girly dress up asian game and think its gross or not their type. But the game is absolutely gorgeous. The best graphics for the environment I've seen in awhile. Colorful and looks so good. But those points I mentioned are why everyone has ignored it or just made fun of it saying its at least a game teenage girls can play...But its way way more than what they all dismiss it to be if they actually watched the gameplay from the trailer and not ignore it...
More cool things coming from Indie type retro companies like Ambernic, etc....

AStro Bot Rescue Mission is the best 3D Platformer ever made, but sadly its hidden behind the VR Headset...
So to enjoy it you need:
PSVR1 (not 2!), a PS4 or a PS5 and the PS Camera Adaptor (was send out for free for a while).
And the Game. If you are able to try the Game, I highly recommend you try it. Its very fun.
ANd do NOT watch anything about it, go in blind, just play it.
Path of exile is an amazing ARPG. It's a lot more catered to hardcore number crunching players than diablo. But good for anyone.
