I'm a newly converted SUPER FAN!! GHOST is just..... MARVELOUS!! Why have I never gheard of them!?! I'm 42!! Anyway, I am in love with Papa, and enamored by this album, and older songs too! Just AMAZING!!
OK, I admit at first I didn’t like the song but after realising what the lyrics are about and the fact that the melody grew up on me I can say that now I’m obsessed by it. Hypatiaaaa…
If you ask me, changing genre is what Ghost does. Opus Eponymous was black metal, infesstissumam was more rock, Meliora was metal sometimes and rock sometimes, Prequelle was techno, and Impera is sort of 80's rock.
I know “Handmaid’s Tail” is the actual lyrics, but if you don’t think that it’s a double entendre for “A Handmaid’s Tale”, then you probably haven’t watched the series or read the book. The whole song is about how evil this “holy” religion can be, and in the book/show, the reasoning for the dystopia is Christianity. The stripping away of rights and viewing people as nothing more than tools to be used in the name of God.
I've been a Ghost fan since 2018 ... I think Tobias is super talented but, he's un/mis-informed about American politics and it shows... The fact that he's obviously watched Handmaids Tale makes me think less of him. It's Hollywood non-sense aimed at the low IQ crowd.
@@orion7873You don't have to have watched the show to know what it's about. It's about bad things being done in the name of religion. That's the take away.
@@orion7873 Ever read the book? It's one of the most impressive and disturbing dystopian novels I've ever read. For me it plays in the same league as 1984. By the way, the song gives a new interpretation to the book title since the Christian church refers to herself as the "handmaid of Christ". In the Song the justification with a righteous dogma hides the satanic tail, the inner beast of the church, fanatical zeal it is.
Also, agree. Alot like Rush. The bass, the guitar slides, the lyrics remind me of something early Rush 2112 era. Ghost is a hot band! To me getting better every album!
@@mlerskine9317that’s one thing that infuriates me about Christianity. They’re so “holy” when they’ve committed so many atrocities in the name of their God. And god himself committed countless atrocities as well. I believe that a jealous, murderous God isn’t worthy of worship
The fact that "Choir boys en suite" sounds like "choir boys are sweet" makes that line extra skin crawling. Also, don't this sound like some 2000's anime opening credits music
dude i freaking love this song.
Ghost never fails to entertain me. I'm addicted to their new album!

I also just discovered them about 3 months ago. Great addition to rock music!
Only heard of them a couple of years ago, but absolutely love Papa and all the gorgeous music he brings us

No shame in that! One of my favorite bands is Slipknot, but I never really liked their stuff, just a couple of songs, but they really grew on me
Their songs always makes me cry they touch so much. No other band makes me feel that way
Been a fan since the beginning... seen them live several time, and this... is amazing!
It's shocking to see such an extreme style change but I personally like it
yeah, it's weird to call them a "swedish heavy metal band" and then people are like "heavy metal?"

prequelle was techno, like wtf?

Fits in well with the story of Hypatia and her murder by Christian zealots in the Caesareum (Kaisarion in Greek) of Alexandria.
@@Oppetsismiimsitsitc exactly, that’s why, at least to me, it’s obvious it’s a double entendre. Fits more than “handmaid’s tail” imo.

Song reminds me so much of Rush. Love it.
I thought so too when I heard the solo. The bass was almost perfect Geddy.
Huge Rush fan!! Just discovered this band about a week ago and CRAZY HOOKED!!!! Working on getting tix to Aug 12th Milwaukee 👍

i encourage you all to go search up what this song is representing :))
Yes, please

Knowing ghost, that’s probably what’s the meaning is
@Onyxthefem given Papas sense of humor and the subject matter of this album, I have no doubt that it was indeed done deliberately
What a song. Love the lyrics. Also, pretty much the other decent song on NHL 23 soundtrack
This is amazing !
Я безумно жду футажи по этой песне. Она потрясающая
на Ютубе есть пара видосов с лайвами на эту песню) но насколько я понял, они её редко исполняют из-за сложности текста
