  • Welcome to my craft room. Thank you for stopping by. Please consider subscribing if you are new here.
Today I made some faux rice paper and thought I’d turn on the camera while I was taking another napkin off of my plastic.
I also showed how to age a document and create faux aged tape.
I hope you enjoy this impromptu video
And hope to bring you another fun inspiring video tomorrow.
Be well be safe be blessed

I have seen a few videos on how to age paper, but none like this!! I love the process and I could actually see the difference in the paper, which was exciting. I have seen faux tape done, but the color used was dark...I love this color!!!! I have never seen anyone make faux rice paper....this was exciting to watch! I learn so much from you in every video!! I love your soft, soothing voice...so does my little Morkie (Nikki), she curls up beside me and listens and watches until she falls asleep. Thank you, my friend, for sharing these. Take care, and God bless you. xoxox Allie

I take my napkins outside and blast them with clear spray paint. No peeling whatsoever. Perfectly transparent. I'm going to try this your way because sometimes it's inconvenient to go outside. TFS.

Hello yes me too !! I spray my glassine bags after I print as I have an injet . One spray light coat and poof beautiful printed glassine bags . Love love how the napkins come out as well. But, yes winters ( not here, but many can be harsh & can’t spray it in side ) thanks so much I must hop over to see if you have a UA-cam channel. 💜

Neat idea!! For releasing, maybe try loosening a bit of a corner then take the plastic and try pullimg that instead of the napkin. I do that when I use my Cricut mats. I roll them to release the paper. Thanks for sharing.

Hi! I made this the other day. It’s fun isn’t it? I’m still making them with the whites of the napkin adding coffee to the glue. If you rough up the edges of the glued napkin then it’ll lift right up with your fingers. I love those tins. I collect them as well. Oh and I have such an easier way of removing the back of the napkins so that it doesn’t tear. You want to use those backs and making the faux rice paper as well.

Cereal bags and garbage bags work too! Also, if you will sort of lift up on the edges after you glue (just sort of gently push it with the brush a slight amount), while still wet, it peels off without having to use the craft knife. (Try the cereal bag liner if you can. It peels off a lot easier than with what you used. I first tried wax paper, too. Disaster!!!!)

I did this probably 4 years ago but I used the inner lining of a cereal box. I just brushed some mod podge doen, put the napkin on, another coat of mod podge over the top, let it dry outside and peeled it off very easily. It reminds me of pieces of see through vinyl.

If you use your brush and just smoosh the edges very slightly with your brush it comes off very very easily you just have to lift one edge and pull and it is less likely to tear.

Wow so many cool ideas, I'm getting squirrel brain. 😂 Love your tins, I have been collecting tins because my craft room used to be a sun room and I have windows everywhere. Well the sun damages paper so I keep things in tins. Thanks for all the projects shares, have a beautiful day. Take care! 💜

Forgot to ask- is the backside sticky like the front sounded? If so msybe put the napkin face down so the sticky side is on the back.

I’m so happy I found you & your channel recently!! I love your ideas and your voice is very peaceful and nice to listen to! I would love to try this with some napkins but I wonder if you could give me an idea of what the ratio is of glue to water? Would you think 8 oz glue to 1 oz water, or maybe closer to 4 oz glue and 1 oz water? I would love to find some butterfly🦋 napkins to make plastic wings like you mentioned! That would be so great!

Another question-how do you keep the faux rice papers from sticking together or sticking to an opposite page in a journal? It appears that it’s a little bit tacky as you handle the one that’s been dried. How have you used these for your projects? I would love to see an idea.😊 Thank you so much for sharing with us!

Hi Priscilla, I’ve found since publishing this video a couple of things
      1. Yes it was a bit tacky so in the end I just took some baby powder/ or you could use corn starch - rub a tiny bit in your hands then just rub over napkin & voila !!
I also just recently did a video on waxing napkins and paper to create faux vellum I love this technique!! Just look in the videos for waxing - also have a new video on aging tape !! Hope this helps any questions always always ask !! I love to help 🌸🍃

I also wondered about spraying the stamped napkin backing- how do you keep it from sticking to the box when you spray it? I was spraying pressed flowers last fall and had trouble with them sticking to parchment baking paper even, so that they sometimes broke when I tried to pick them up afterwards.

    • @cheryltallafuss1886
      @cheryltallafuss1886  Рік тому

Awe no - well , as for dried flowers I’ve not tried that - I’ve been pressing them in my very old xyron laminator , also I have placed them on a piece of acetate placed another on top and glued the edges with art glitter glue - I have an upcoming video on how to use pressed flowers 🌸 in your journals and explain all of my different ideas I’ve had over the years. I hope you will join me. I’m an avid collector of flowers and dry and press so many varieties of flowers , weeds 😉, leaves & even herbs !!
      Hugs Priscilla 🌸💕
