I just heard this for the first time. I think it's one of my all-time favorites and I plan on sharing it with my family. Elder Holland, thank you. I needed to hear this!
The parable about the workers in the vineyard is actually about how the Jews were there first. The Gentiles came later, but God is going to give the Gentiles the same benefits as the Jews. Some of the Jews were jealous because they thought they deserved more because they were there first. It is not about sinners showing up at the last minute for Salvation and receiving favoritism from God. God made the Gentiles equal with the Jews: Romans 10:12 "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on him." The Jews would be Jealous: Romans 11:11 "I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous."
"Don't delay. It's getting late." What an AWESOME last line for this talk, it gave me chills. Absolutely beautiful work. I love Elder Holland.
Amen!❤
