- Here is my AEW Dynamite 4/3/24 review.
This week’s episode comes our way from Worcester, Massachusetts’ DCU Center.
The show opens with Adam Copeland responding to the CM Punk interview with Ariel Helwani, which did not make AEW look good to the public. Will Ospreay continues to get ready for his PPV showdown with Bryan Danielson by facing another Callis Family member in Powerhouse Hobbs, as Samoa Joe & Swerve Strickland sign the contract for their match at Dynasty for Joe’s AEW World championship.
Plus, The Young Bucks and Best Friends battle for a spot in April 21’s AEW World Tag Title match, the Bang Bang Scissor Gang explosion brings us Daddy Ass vs. Jay White, Thunder Rosa tries to claim a shot at the AEW Women’s belt when she takes on Timeless Toni Storm’s protege/doppleganger Mariah May, Chris Jericho calls out HOOK one week after offering to mentor him... and more!

Adam Copeland is a company guy, just like Cody and CM Punk are; he's putting over his company...to be expected. I don't agree with how he did it because it comes off like a retaliation piece (which it is) and makes them look like desperate underdogs.
I don't see anything wrong with his promo, I just felt that he was trying to end tribalism. He didn't say anything controversial like other wrestlers on that roster.
I mean...AEW HAS BEEN the Underdogs since Day 1. It's why they have such a dedicated fanbase.

Yeah, AEW is in a slump period right now and there's several factors that can be attributed to that. Everyone is shitting on them right now because WWE is doing so well. Wrestling has always been a roller-coaster folks; ups and downs on both sides.
i think the difference is aew fans emulate the product and make things a contest and toxic. its real easy to go out there and shit on aew when accounts like ibou, wwerealone, etc. are all doing wednesdays edge promo every day on twitter. wwe let jericho on steve austins podcast to promote aew and this is what they do in return.
AEW is doing what I expected them to do by now. They are an indie fed on high budget.
Aew really needs a change just like WWE needed a change when Vince was in charge and feels like a whole different company under Triple H. Right now it feels like they need a change from Tony Khan honestly he needs to hire someone else to do the booking for him and he should just be the money kinda like Eric Bischoff and Ted Turner back in the day. Tony is just really hurting his own company with his twitter meltdowns and horrible booking and the ratings keep getting worse and all he's doing is proving CM Punk right about him not being a boss and great businessman.

I don’t want aew to compete with wwe it will never pass wwe no matter how good it is …I’d rather aew be the alternative and it doesn’t need to have better numbers it just needs to make tnt happy
AEW biggest fall was them trying to be WWE and the actual fan base changed with it and they are trying to rebuild the company into what it was originally pre BoGoMax

People aren't gonna believe me but at a point you had AEW fans who would choose AEW. We know this because stuff like presidential debates and big sporting events more than WWE. WWE fans trend to focus exclusively on WWE(a good example is Punk's return promo he reffenced hockey and it was slient) those AEW fans would put stuff before AEW like coverage of Jan 6 which from my memory destroyed AEW that night but they didn't put WWE ahead of AEW.

The problem is WWE doesnt have a wrestler go out on live tv to ask their viewers for sympathy and defending themselves from criticism and saying they have the best wrestling in the world. They let their product do the talking.

Can someone explain the "lack of story criticism" cause this episode had a lot of progression. Everyone of the matches and the segments built something. The least important segment was Shane Taylor Productions cutting a promo on Lion-Hook to build up Collision.
If you say there is no story then we at this point are debating what is and isnt a story.

@keni95851 That was the weakest segment but it still built to a match where Jericho will team with Hook.
The rest of the show is full with story I picked the weakest segment to be charitable. Also, what is a story to you? If a story is conflict and our protagonist either fails or is successful and that successful or failure changes the protagonist at the end. To say the match isn't part of the story is like saying a chapter isn't a book.

Those are the tribalists! I am an AEW and WWE fan and negativity is good for both companies bc it will push them beyond their limits.
I mean why do WWE fans online even pay attention to AEW anyway? AEW it's for a niche audience, AEW is catering to the hardcore fans according to them. AEW isn't for them. So why do they continue to pay attention to it for 5 years just to excessively criticize it? If they don't like AEW, they can just stop giving it attention and watch the WWE.
The WWE fans can criticize TK or an AEW wrestler if they takes shots at WWE online or whatever but other than that why do they pay attention to AEW if it's not their cup of tea sort of speak?
I'm an AEW fan, but I watch the WWE as well. But when I see segments I don't like I'm not on the WWE UA-cam page typing negative comments about every segment I hate. I just don't post anything negative about it and move on. On AEW page it's constant bashing from WWE fans on any AEW related video just as much as positive comments there. Towards a company they say is for a niche audience, for a hardcore audience, I don't get it..

This statement is not 100% true bc Swerve is way over in AEW than what he was in WWE. However, I do feel like some people such as Miro should've just gone elsewhere to reinvent themselves.
Tony Khan needs to just move on from Punk and stop referencing/responding to him. This promo was needless.
According to Copeland everything is awesome and we should all just get along...Well that promo would have more impact if the hardcam side wasn't empty, if ratings weren't trending down, if there was better long term booking, ect. Etc. Also pretty rich to call out toxicity and tribalism considering your boss is as tribalistic as it gets, and also coming from the same company that constantly badmouths their competition (WWE). AEW please look in a mirror first.

Imagine if AEW took that energy and put it into competing with WWE who has been selling out shows and topping their own numbers 13 times over. Instead of competing with CM Punk who is just a single guy on the show.
Seriously AEW is dead, they can't beat CM Punk solo let alone WWE. They aren't competition, it's over. We wanted a company to compete with WWE to keep it fresh. That company was WWE, just without Vince. AEW is competing with CM Punk doing a 2 hour interview smh.

10:10 Tony khan is a patriot child. He was around the same age.Vince was when they started their respective companies. The major difference is that vince did everything he could to make his product big and captivating millions. Tony conn cares too much about what the internet thinks instead of trying to run a good restaurant plot with stories and attractive audiences.
One more thing aew and WWE im going say this nobody can down on either show only reason why WWE good cause of the rock he only one reason people watching WrestleMania that it and mjf is only reason people watch aew so this tell. Me both company need build on star so people can invest cause part timers can still draw
MJF regin is what drove AEW fans from the company. The lower attendance is tied to his regin and the spicy food fake alligator segments him and Cole did. From a numbers point MJF is AEW's Diesel.
