One of the Best Amps in the Helix - Gibson EH185

For my Presets visit: johnnathancord... I always skipped over the Stone Age 185 model in the Helix. It's actually the oldest amp modelled in the Helix - Gibson introduced the EH185 in 1939, and it was used by players like Charlie Christian back then, and supposedly Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age still uses one in the studio. Anyway, I'd say it's one of the more unique sounding models in the Helix, and has this raw, vintage and fuzzy, somewhat hairy gain quality to it. So it's worth a look!

Wow love the sounds at 5:50-6:30, really Nice sounding. Kinda liked that Field Coil speaker, maybe take some of the Bass out before the drive. It has a Golden Tone to it. Rich sounding.

Enjoyed both the clean and dirty tones on this Amp. It's impressive how much difference the speakers can make. I find a lot of inspiration in using Amps that sound vastly different. They get me to play differently as well. Thanks

I love my helix for the 2 paths and I hook my mic up to it and use it my USB-DAW interface but sometimes I wish I had the stomp for its portability and when I look at my presets realistically I think I could get 85% of them onto the one path the stomp has. I don't know if this helps or not.

I love the EH-185. I'm glad I never used the stock cab, I might have been soured on it. I've always had a balanced celestion IR and I love this amp.

Which Celestion IR do you use?

@@KeithShelley1 It's the Vintage 30 212 O R-121 Balanced but I sometimes change it to the 121+57 or 421+57 as I find they all sound good.
