    Love how soft you keep all the values in the beginning avoiding a precise 'drawing' - very beautiful

      Thank you very much! I do love a precise drawing, but sometimes softness and generalities is a path to get there.

    This is probably a really silly question, but how do you make the paint be so wet? Is it some form of medium, like paint thinner? I'm a complete beginner :P

    • @oxygenpom1606
      @oxygenpom1606 3 роки тому +2

      Link Definitely a oil paint medium used to thin paint and apply glazes. There are many and each artist has their own preferences.

    Can these techniques be adapted to acrylic painting?

    • @SadieValeriAtelier
      @SadieValeriAtelier  4 роки тому

      My understanding is acrylic dries too fast. This painting had "open" (wet) working time for about 4-6 hours per session (3 sessions).

    • @gregkilby7043
      @gregkilby7043 3 роки тому

      @@SadieValeriAtelier You can get an acrylic retarder gel that slows down the very fast drying time. How that helps.

    is it possible for anyone to learn this or do you need a requisite amount of 'talent' ??

    • @SadieValeriAtelier
      @SadieValeriAtelier  4 роки тому +8

      Desire is more important than talent. Anyone can learn to play Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata if they put in enough time and effort to learn. It just depends on how bad you want it.

  • @ElmwoodParkHulk

    I do see quite a lot of differences but I like yours better it's more sultry

    • @SadieValeriAtelier
      @SadieValeriAtelier  3 роки тому +3

      The goal for a master copy of a sketch is to practice the sketching method, not to recreate a perfect facsimile of the final image. Subtle but important difference! If I spent weeks using tiny brushes I could create a pixel-perfect copy of course, but I would learn nothing about how to integrate and apply the methodology in my own work.

    • @SadieValeriAtelier
      @SadieValeriAtelier  2 роки тому

      I call it a sketch because likely for Bouguereau it was a sketch. For a more formal master copy I would do a careful drawing and transfer to get an exact copy. But I wanted to copy Bouguereau's process as best I could, not just make a copy of the final result.

      He's not entirely wrong, although it could have been worded better.
      Your values are a tad darker than the original and if my observation is on point, you seem to have used a slightly more orange-ish red tone instead of a orange-ish yellow? I could be wrong so you can correct me on that!
      Either way, your copy is still gorgeous nonetheless! I hope to reach that level someday!
