    I expected nothing less from Subaru, after seeing how she was able to hold her own conversation with EN and ID when she solo collab'd with them.
    She studied hard.
    Similar vibe to how Calli studied super hard in Japanese.

      I've noticed a lot of Japanese people (well, internet streamers at least) sound like their tongue grew three sizes when they try to speak english. They think over emphasising the R sound makes them sound native, and not like they got a bad case of food allergy lol

    • @NomDatBass
      @NomDatBass 5 місяців тому +32

      The thing is, that's really just how Miko always sounds, and is why her Japanese is also infamously hard to understand. Iirc, she apparently has an unusually short tongue that causes her speaking issues.

Technically, under the right context, all options can be used to ask someone if they are ok, but also, like Miko mentioned, "What's the matter?" can be asked aggressively which would make it the most inappropriate. Good job, Shuba and Azki. And that "30" was kinda good answer too.
    At the end of the clip, something very important was said. I've always been of the opinion that subtitles in children's programs combined with a good library network and skilled children's authors were important factors when practically 100% of the population was literate (excluding small children, of course). Unfortunately, we fall further and further away from that 100% every year. One reason is the increase in dubbing. Of course there are others, but maybe this is not the right place to discuss it...

      i think japan is one of the few countries who’s entertainment/internet is very local
      and what i mean by that, is that japan has a an entertainment industry that isn’t reliant on global entertainment like many european countries where english is pretty much a necessity to browse the internet or play games
      In japan they have their own internet culture, shows, UA-camrs all in japanese, and any movie or show comes dubbed in japan, which is why they never really take english seriously since everything they need comes in japanese unless they’re really passionate for the original experience

    Sometimes I watch the Japanese dub of American shows even though I don't understand Japanese. There's just a different mood to it, especially when the actors use bombastic enunciation on things that the Americans didn't, and vice versa. Then there's things like the Scott Pilgrim movie where it almost feels natural.

      The Japanese voice acting culture developed from dubbing.
      Exaggerated acting was required to bridge cultural differences.
      This style has also been carried over into anime.

    I need to practise Japanese more, I seriously didn't know how to translate "thirsty". Also I failed miserably at the "taking care of animals" sentence. I want my Japanese to be on par with Subaru's English someday.

    • @jaycee330
      @jaycee330 2 місяці тому +1

      There is no one word for it, the usual is "nodo ga kawatta" (throat got dry). Much like hungry is "onaka ga suita" (stomach got empty).
      The trick to that sentence is that "sewa" is a noun meaning "care/attend" so it has to be converted to a suru verb (sewa o suru). Thus the sentence becomes:
      Kanojo (she) wa (topic marker) doubutsu (animals) no (replacing "ga" in the subordinate clause) sewa o suru (take care) no ga (turns the previous into a subordinate clause and makes it the subject of:) suki desu (like),
      More literally" As for her, the concept of taking care of animals, is liked."

    • @赤ゲキ
      @赤ゲキ 5 місяців тому

      No differences. The differences are the person themselves. The way they speak and pronounce are different levels of pronunciation.

    Tbf, given what we've seen from Holo JP, you'd expect Shuba to come 1st. She's really put immense effort in. Miko actually seems to be putting some work in behind the scenes as well.
    I expected them to do better on the last question tbh, though honestly 1 & 3 could be ways to check if someone's OK. 3 is definitely better, but 1 wasn't really wrong.
