Brilliant video and a great help to me. Thank you for your time on making this video. 10/10.👍
Hi, thank you for watching and for your much appreciated feedback.
Great video, it's the same engine as the Freelander 2 so very helpful for anybody like me doing that. Of course its at the back so 40 minutes would be a dream.
Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback.
My EGR leaks coolant from the very front, where 4 bolts hold the plate , the lower inner bolt is inaccessible... and seal looks like a metal plate with lip sticking out... I am thinking K seal... do you think it is a good idea to try K seal first before taking EGR out , taking apart and use sealant liquid gasket? There is no replacement part for that gasket...
This is what I m fighting with right now. I m getting the egr off and using some gasket sealant. Hope it works. I don t recommend touching to put sealant on top of gasket with the egr still mounted.
@@Robcuisimplu I got entire egr from other jag, will swap it next week, and let you know where I stand (if I don't forget). I will also take apart the old one where it leaks, looks like it is a rubber membrane or something there. Let me know how you get on, take some pictures too, how it looks inside please:)
@@Robcuisimplu I took egr out today, 2.5 h, very bad placements of bolts... 1/8 of movement etc... anyways, installed new egr, car was fine then died, battery died and keys not recognized no more... anyways, took apart the leaking one, there is a mental gasket, WELDED to the body by temp, I wasn't able to take it off, just bend a bit to see what's behind it... and it is a rubber kinda oring seal, can't be replaced... how did u get on?
@@Robcuisimplu mate, how did u get on? after changing mine car died, idled for 10 min, drove it now died... cranks no start
Hello mate. What would you recommend checking if the spring is not broke and I still get the P245A error code on my 2.2D? Cleared the code and it comes back on a couple of days later and used EGR spray cleaner into the air intake. Thanks, Liam
Hi Liam, thank you for watching and for your feedback. The fault code is triggered by the vacuum valve that sits on top of the EGR coolant manifold, it sends signals to the computer. If that valve is not opening and closing correctly then it will register a fault code. The easy things to check for is a vacuum leak, the vacuum valve could be faulty, the electrical connection could be faulty, Have you removed the vacuum valve rod at the ball joint and checked the spring is operating the lever correctly as it is hard to see if the spring is broken.
Thank you! I will check that. Best, Liam
Hi mate, the spring looks all good and pressure seems good no hissing etc. What would you recommend next? Thanks and sorry for the questions! Best Liam
Hi Liam, next would be the electrics or vacuum unit.@@liamrogers6905
2:05 - the body to the right bolted with 4 I believe star alan keys to the main body, has a metal hasket or something I think, I get a leak from top of it where the little metal lip sticks out... have you ever experienced that?
I have black suit build up coming from mine. God knows where its coming from maybe a gasket but its also creating a smell of exhaust gas in the cabin
Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback. Not good to have exhaust gas in the cabin. Should get it fixed as soon as possible.
Would you know which port to blank on this EGR? Jag forums say exhaust feed, but I do not know which one it is? I think my car won't start because of "brand new second hand" egr, so only way to find out is to blank it and test then , but don't know which one to blank for tests... please help..
Good video. Unfortunately an expensive part if you need a new one. 😬
Hi Hugh, thank you for watching and for your feedback.
Changed EGR, error disappeared, worked for 10 mins idle, when driving car was pulling uneven and then died stopped, turns over but won't start... ffs
that looks real tight to work on.
I need this part badlyy trying hard to find out
Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback. What is the issue with yours?
After changing egr, did you have to reprogram anything or map it? I have changed mine, car drove for 2mins, died, won't start... Egr cooler lost some coolant, will this bleed itself automatically? Then batt died and doesn't recognize the key haha
Hi, did you have any fault lights on before replacing the EGR. If the engine ran for 2 mins and then died, it sounds like a fuel issue. I can't be sure as i'm not there. You just need to top the coolant up, no need to bleed.
@@crystalclearmechanics Hi, I had P245A, light on. Changed ERG, did OBDII scan, no faults, and I can see EGR working, however, now I read it has to be adapted with SDD Jag software, which is on the way ;) After disconnecting the battery I lost the key connectivity, but SDD should sort it as well :) gotta love jags :D Topped up coolant by about a glass, and it was ok. Maybe it is fuel issue, but the funny thing is, I started the car, idled for 15 mins, then when I drove it problem appeared. We will see when my SDD kit arrives and I fix keys frist :) I will let you know how I get on . Thank you for your reply!
@@UnknownUnrecognized Hi, yes it should be adapted if a new one is fitted. It's odd that it's not showing a fault code now that the engine cut and will not start. With some of those when the battery is disconnected they lose the central locking and have to be reprogrammed.
@@crystalclearmechanics Ok, thank you. Once software and obd kit arrives, first fix the keys , then adapt egr... :) gotta love modern cars, should have kept my 20 y old volvo with 500k km on it haha :)
@@crystalclearmechanics Btw, what menu in SDD did you chose to adapt new EGR?
That water pipe from the EGR can couse coolant leak?
Hi, thank you for your feedback. Yes as with any water pipe a leak can occur.
hi mate where you from england
Hi, thank you for watching. Yes I am.
@@crystalclearmechanics where from as mine jaguar xf got coolant leak aswell
@@Ethan_Nathan_ Hi, can you see the general location of the coolant leak. Where in the country are you?
i am from bedford it’s near egr valve
Fck me, took me 2h to get it oit5, despite I restore motorbikes etc bolts are hidden and are different, unbelievable, whoever invented egr or designed in this car should be thrown to a shark tank. Taking break before installing new one, mean brand new second hand one
