Thank you so much for this video! I am an American citizen living in America. I traveled to India on December 28th, 2019 and spent 5 1/2 weeks there. I married my sweet husband and then returned to America just as Covid was really starting and started the process to get a spousal visa for my husband to come to America. In September 2020, the US National Visa center informed us that we were missing on crucial marriage document. To get this document I need to go back to India for at least 30 days. I have been trying to get information about what I need to do to be allowed to enter the country again and have been getting absolutely nowhere. It is so frustrating! I am so happy for you that you got your "spousal" visa and that you are able to be with your husband in India! That is wonderful!
These rules were made to protect against drug trafficker and it can't be limited to certain nationalities like Pakistan, Afganistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, etc. owing to biasing and were implemented for visitors of all foreign passport holders. I'm glad you made it, God Bless!!

I enjoy your videos. I’m a US citizen son of Indian immigrants. My parents have been in the US for over 50 years, and they visit India often. They eventually became US citizens and got OCI cards. I got one too. I’m not interested in living in India, but it’s great that I don’t have the hassle of dealing with the Indian embassy every time I go to India.

I am from India who got married to a Russian lady in her country and it's been more than 2 years of our marriage. All our marriage documents are in the regional language of her country (russian of course) but they have been translated, apostilled and notarized. I've recently applied for an Entry X visa for her and plan to travel to India soon. Can my wife apply for the OCi card in India based on these available documents? You are a proud Indian citizen and we are proud to have you here . There is only one thing i would suggest you is to understand Indians one needs to have very fine senses western people have to many wrong perceptions about Indians all those are not true . Just go a bit deep and you will realise that we are a very sensitive and raw society.
Govt should make a bit liberal less cumbersome system in granting VISA to nationals from friendly and peaceful countries specially, from those countries who have very high passport rating , but without compromising national security and international laws. Of course VISA system for non friendly countries and having poor records in combating terrorism, must be made so difficult so that getting VISA is almost impossible for nationals from these countries. People like Johanna must always be welcomed in India with global outlook.

Excellent video. I’ve been through the crazy visa process too. Have had two eVisas. My partner of three years and I are not married (for many reasons you mentioned). Now, I am on a 10-year tourist visa and have to leave the country every 6 mo. If I return to USA, I have to stay two months then I can return. If I leave to Nepal just for 24 hrs, I can reenter into India-this is a common practice. We got this advice from an FRRO officer we met in-person to discuss our case at our state capital. That was his suggestion-go to Nepal. Because of other plans I came to the USA this time in 2020 and guess what? Got stuck here because of covid. It’s been really tough. Just in waiting mode for now. Your story is inspirational and I appreciate all the clear and accurate information you’ve shared. Congratulations on the baby!

I only got back to India from my native country just 3 weeks before the lockdown! 😳 You're lucky to have been able to get a 10-year tourist visa! I only was ever able to get the 12-month ones. And to get such good advice from the FRRO!! What is the port of exit to Nepal . Can a foreigner who has to leave India before 6 month completion travel to Nepal via road through Darjeeling and then come back to India via road...... or should it be through airport only?
@@jishnudas9247 I just returned from Nepal for my visa run (I have a 10 yr multi entry tourist visa). Rules have changed since the pandemic for all foreigners with visas. From my research and understanding, ANY foreigner with a visa must enter through air or waterway. No ground entry into India. I’m mot saying it doesn’t happen-it’s INDIA afterall. BUT why waste time and money going by ground and learning the hard way? Any international airport or waterway is allowed that has an immigration unit.

You can apply for an OCI card, you are almost like an Indian citizen, u can work and live for ever in India.
No need to give up your Finnish passport.

There is only one thing i would suggest you is to understand Indians one needs to have very fine senses western people have to many wrong perceptions about Indians all those are not true . Just go a bit deep and you will realise that we are a very sensitive and raw society.

Govt should make a bit liberal less cumbersome system in granting VISA to nationals from friendly and peaceful countries specially, from those countries who have very high passport rating , but without compromising national security and international laws. Of course VISA system for non friendly countries and having poor records in combating terrorism, must be made so difficult so that getting VISA is almost impossible for nationals from these countries. People like Johanna must always be welcomed in India with global outlook.

Excellent video. I’ve been through the crazy visa process too. Have had two eVisas. My partner of three years and I are not married (for many reasons you mentioned). Now, I am on a 10-year tourist visa and have to leave the country every 6 mo. If I return to USA, I have to stay two months then I can return. If I leave to Nepal just for 24 hrs, I can reenter into India-this is a common practice. We got this advice from an FRRO officer we met in-person to discuss our case at our state capital. That was his suggestion-go to Nepal. Because of other plans I came to the USA this time in 2020 and guess what? Got stuck here because of covid. It’s been really tough. Just in waiting mode for now. Your story is inspirational and I appreciate all the clear and accurate information you’ve shared. Congratulations on the baby!
Oh I'm so sorry to hear that! It was a close call for me too. I only got back to India from my native country just 3 weeks before the lockdown! 😳 You're lucky to have been able to get a 10-year tourist visa! I only was ever able to get the 12-month ones. And to get such good advice from the FRRO!! I always just felt the immigration officers were eager to get me out of the country 😂

What is the port of exit to Nepal . Can a foreigner who has to leave India before 6 month completion travel to Nepal via road through Darjeeling and then come back to India via road......

@@jishnudas9247 I just returned from Nepal for my visa run (I have a 10 yr multi entry tourist visa). Rules have changed since the pandemic for all foreigners with visas. From my research and understanding, ANY foreigner with a visa must enter through air or waterway. No ground entry into India. I’m mot saying it doesn’t happen-it’s INDIA afterall. BUT why waste time and money going by ground and learning the hard way? Any international airport or waterway is allowed that has an immigration unit.
