This has given me a great idea for a community event. Have a lot of "houses" with different colour bins outside, all with different blocks in, or in some bins have cargo containers in with components. People have 5 minutes to collect what they can then have to build a rover or ship that can do a set task
This sort of thing could be turned into something like a FIRST robotics thing, where students try to collect as much valuable stuff as possible within the time limit, but their robots have to recognize which bins contain Nibbler poo, I mean Organics...
2:03:00 VRage 3 reflections in glass could still use some work in my opinion. Check out the roof of the building under and to the left of the damaged Solar panel, reflection seems unnecessarily mirrored for the angle of viewing.
If you look Very carefully at the solar panel when it has been cut in half you can see that it says Green while the broken part becomes Red like it's depowered. So maybe a welding thing is in place?
I was going to say that the style of rubbish truck you're building doesn't tip the rear section, but I too watch some rubbish truck videos to confirm. Short end, sometimes they don't, sometimes they do 🤯
I was going to mention using a sensor to stop the pistons once a bin is inside the grabbing range, but then you mentioned it yourself just as I was about to start writing the comment. Next I was going to comment about the Bin Return process to reduce tipping bins over when returning to the "curb", but then you recognized the need for, and configured the method to solve that too. (the large hinge not fully down so the bins don't drag along) Instead of always returning the bins out to maximum piston extension, maybe extend out to only 1/2 or 2/3 to place the bin back down. Possibly have a button to manually stop the pistons extending once the bin is pushed out to the curb rather than beyond it. You'd only need the full extension to grab bins that were placed a little further away from the curb, but returning them doesn't have to be that far away. This would also prevent you from placing the bin back down beyond the grabber's reach if you wanted to grab it again. Will plushies be the only items you'll fill the bins with, or will you come up with misc. things like wheels, hinges, rotors, blocks, plates, etc. to simulate assorted rubbish found in bins? So far, the garbage truck is working quite well. The tipping of the onboard bin should be interesting to set up.
44:56 I’m assuming that might be its proper orientation because a lot of blocks (button panels) have the panel on the left side, I do belive there are quite a few other blocks where it’s on the ride side of an inventory port tho so I’m not sure just something small to note :)
Could the sensor read/define the piston limits, so when the return bin action triggers it places the bin at the place the truck picked it from? End of return bin action would need to be resetting those limits. Another thing that could help with the timings (if possible) is adding a 'yield' timer/programable block whose only function is to add a second or two of delay for example between the piston extension, and release of the bin, a yield could kill the bins inertia helping it not tip over.
Waiting for the unofficial Medieval Engineers total conversion mod for Space Engineers, i guess no one is working on such a thing even though Space Engineers is most fun on planets
lol I'd personally be very happy for it to be 6 months or so from now with what they've shown - I worry how a launch may go if we only get creative mode from the outset

Unless there's more panels behind, obscured by the structure.
Yeah on the stream today they look very similar to current SE 1 reflections

I hope they're planning something fun with it even if it's not ready yet :)
That could be something that’s just graphical too for better or worse

Yeah I had a feeling they did both, but decided the tipping was the cooler of the available options so it's the one to go for :)
I like the idea of a build state, maybe even have weld marks, or like repair lines.
Can't tell if you're cleaning up a mess or making a new one. You'll have fun deleting all those plushies. :P

SOMETHING WE NEED IN SE 2! Merge blocks un-merging resort back to original control panel stuff

The real grabber has a(n almost) parallel mechanical linkage that does the rotations at both ends of the rotation.
Yeah, looking at it I decided to simplify the mechanism a bit because getting those lengths right seemed like a lot of hard work :D

This would have been great in scrapyard
lol The scales a bit off, but I'm sure a tiny non-functional version could be made :D
We'll get Space Engineers 2 before GTA VI, probably
My prediction is se 2 will remain in EA for a good bit while SE 1 will be supported in the mean time.
I think all of the above statements are likely to be true :D

How did you make the trash cans?
They're just small grid blocks with a pair of rotors that the wheel blocks attach onto. Then for the lid I used a pair of rotors for it too :)
@@Flipsie Alr thanks
If I guess Spring of next year for early access will i get lynched?

One complaint it is now TOO REALISTIC, to many closed lids, to many upright bins!!!!
lol :P
