@@fastmadcow A few things to consider: It is one of the main reasons to build a base at all. With a multi-functional backpack, there is not as much emphasis on the base. Like in No Mans sky. Yeah you can build u great base, but why whould you? The game gets pretty boring after a while. The game in general should have its difficulties to motivate players to overcome them. If everything is easy, it won't even be a challenge. If you want a faster start and you don't enjoy mining, you can start with an already built base or in some already built vehicle. You can also set the speed of welding, mining and the size of the inventory, which greatly helps in the beginning. And last but not least, it's a survival game. Not everyone wants to speed up the beginning. Someone can enjoy the beginning of the game. What is the point of rushing the game where there is no proper end game?
@@metalWarriorCZ you have a few mixed ideas, and some assumptions about how I'm playing that I'm not sure I resonate with. I don't think you are doing it on purpose. I will just say I disagree. I believe that adding this backpack will be huge for this game and does not make a base obsolete The comment section is not a place for debate, nor my many many thoughts on this. I have ALOT to say about this as my beliefs run deep on sandbox and survival games in general. Besides unless your a dev trying to change my mind, which I'm assuming your not. Then it's kind of a waste of my time to lay my thoughts out here. I already considered writing a very lengthy comment and decided it didn't make sense. Sooo this is my very very brief take on both your comment and my general game experience. -I have played SE for over 500 hours. I have played the game since alpha. Playing the game off and on over the years. -It seems like you're projecting your own feelings into a view of "everyone" and "someone". Taking your own view and replacing it with statements like "Not everyone wants to speed up the beginning". In general I feel like your comment is kind of a catch all, it feels like your trying to convey the will of the people. I understand that your original comment was not this way so I'm not sure why you decided to write this reply this way. -I've kept up to date on the game through several youtube channels. -I don't enjoy fast starts I think it's boring and there is no satisfaction in not being able to build a base my self. I hate being handed things in video games for free. But I hate when a game waste my time as well. -This is not a survival game... it's a sandbox game acting as physics simulator. I agree that there are survival aspects to the game, but it's not a survival game. -people who play on anything but 4x are wild, I refuse to do it. I believe these people are crazy and I will look at you funny if you do it unless it's for youtube content. -you're correct there is no "end game", the "end game" is what you decide. @@fastmadcow Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. But you made a lot of personal points that I would like to address. First of all, I don't push anyone into anything. I am discussing here and giving my personal opinion as a gamer and fan of this great game. That's it. I made several arguments as to why I PERSONALLY am disappointed with the backpack change. Can I have my opinion, or...? You wrote a lot about yourself and what you think about me, but no valid argument for what I wrote about the game mechanics. Sorry but I don't consider the argument that the game is too slow at the beginning to be very valid considering that it can be personalized a lot and you are just expressing your personal impression (funny thing is that you criticize me for the same thing). Anyway, I love this game. I have already spent over 1300 hours in the game and many more hours outside the game on the topic of setting up servers, mods, etc. I'm looking forward to SE2 but I just don't want it to be too easy. because then it will end up like NMS, where it gets boring after a certain time of gameplay. If you just want to build, use the creative mod. But if we want to play a game, then the game should contain some challenges. That could be the main point and you could possibly comment on that.

24:00 hey! Space Engineers works flawlessly on Linux using Proton (except the broken text copy and paste)! I play it mostly there actually and performance is great! I get 100+ fps with everything on low and 2k resolution on my old gtx 1060! (vanilla Debian 12 with Nvidia gpu) It’s just that you cannot use any mod or it crashes, but the vanilla experience is still really good with all the new content added recently! If they are using later tecnologies it’s very likely that they will have a relatively easy time supporting linux natively! I am pretty sure that they will especially because of the whole needin a windows server / vm to host a dedicated server makes it more costly and less efficent thing.

I bought SE1 when there was just the asteroid platform with the red ship and the speed limit was like 20 m/s. I didn't get disappointed in fact the game became much more than I imagined at the start. SE2 is already preordered.
I will likely be lost in a sea of SE veterans, but I must say the thing that stuck out to me in this video, is Zer0's optimism and clear full support of the Developer's handle on SE2. I've only recently gotten into SE, but I've quickly become a very overwhelmed fan. The research, attention, and faith that this Content Creator has put into this studio is fantastic and honestly should be adopted by more mainstream genres. Essentially what he says is: 1) Trust the development team. 2) Let the development team do things at their own pace. They have been working on the game longer than many of us have been playing. 3) DON'T BE IMPATIENT. 4) If there is something the community vocalizes for, odds are they will address it. (This is the main point that applies to passion projects exclusively) 5) MOST IMPORTANTLY: "Make the game good first before we start adding stuff like that." Hits the nail on the head of what should be at the forefront of video game developers these days. I'm sick and tired of these AAA (or ridiculous AAAA, whatever that means) studios putting out passionless projects that are nothing more than a money grabbing project. They're all situated to be this "pretty" looking game that pulls suckers in and promises this in-depth and rich game play that, when, actually scrutinized by anyone with half a brain cell, ends up being nothing more than a pathetic attempt at a cash-grab disguised as a form of entertainment. It needs to END. Developers like this, who clearly have a passion for the works of art that they are creating need to be brought to the spotlight. SUPPORT DEVELOPERS SUCH AS THIS AND STOP, PLEASE STOP, GIVING PRE-ORDER MONEY TO THESE OVER-HYPED AND UNDER-PERFORMING AAA STUDIOS. Thank you for coming to my TED talk, all three of you who read through this. Ad Astra.
00:07 not just you, we shall make a chanell on discord server just to let people press F to pay respects to unlimited potentiol cable would bring if it was functional
The interface here simply looks amazing! The 20 MS rule is great especially if they allow asymmetric thrust. I really hope they do. Then we can have true navigation thrusters. That would make flying so much more customizable!
I hope they do something with the cable like making act as a grappling hook so the player can have an alternative to using a jetpack, maybe the cable could also be used for dragging things.
Man, I am sorry to say that this feels just like a cashgrab. They have all information from players from SE1 on how SE2 should look like. Now they are just selling broken incomplete sandbox. :( I bough every DLC they made not because I want to play it, but I wanted to support them. Even though they are Czech studio and translation to Czech language had to be done by fans. Now I know how to feel about them. Game is just secondary priority for them.
did you even watch the video? what are you talking about lmao... Of course its incomplete, its the first publishable version of the game at its barebones, the video literally talks about the game's roadmap and their progress. The video also said 70 people are working on SE2, if you want a complete survival sandbox in a new engine, go speak to a triple A dev team of 1000.
It's early access, they want to show it to us and get our feedback on it. Every game they've worked on has been in early access for the same reason. And they're still updating SE1 if you want a finished experience, you're not losing anything.
how is this a cash grab? its just a EA game what are you on about. This was literally what EA is for and its like 30 bucks which is hardly expensive as far as this type of game goes. And you dont have to buy it until it has the features you want
guys, I get your point, you can buy early version if you want. But they made solid money in SE1 and they are not any newbie in business. I would expect respectable move to release a full game, and not dragging EA for years.
I recently started playing SE1 and the ONE thing that immediately started to annoy and disappoint me was the fact small grid and large grid are separated. I'm very excited for the new system.
This year I have to work on Christmas and am an call the entire night but I get a free day off next year as compensation. guess when I'll be taking that day!
The Alpha release an promise of "Vertical Slices" really reminds me of what happened to KSP2 - Hyped it up, released the Alpha in a trash state so only the highest of spec PCs could run it, promised that "core functionality" would be released in stages, (multtiplayer, colonies, etc), changed core things that worked well in the first game (more bendy rockets, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?), then ran out of money. I seriously hope SE2 works out well because it has so much potential, but KSP2 shattered my trust in early access promises from devs. Please, Please, get it right guys and gals
KSP2 was doomed from the start, it was bought by another company who immediately announced they were making a sequel with a different dev team and then it turned out the KSP2 devs weren't allowed to talk to the old dev team at all. Then they proceeded to not say anything to players for months and months and then the game go cancelled. Keen have done the opposite of that, they have been working on this game for almost 3 years, they are the same dev team as the first, they have told us exactly what they are doing for the next 3 years of early access and been more transparent than they ever had been on anything to do with the game.
As someone who has been with them from the earliest of the days, I am excited, I hope SE2 gets the decent speed SE deserved but we were so few to support the even lesser developers on the game. If anything they already have half the ideas set by the community in terms of what people want in survival by mods, they just need to expand it further and make it more functional, along with making it moddable in terms of changes and improvements, along with adding raw mechanics. While I dont expect a Star Citizen quality or time, I expect good things from them and us the community. Keen deserves all the support.
If they don't make the cable do anything, I bet you someone's gonna mod it into a functional thing. Probably a wire to help tether players to ships and blocks in space to either save up on Jetpack Fuel, or maybe it can be used as a tether for other players, allowing you to sacrifice some of YOUR power onto another player so they don't die, and/or drag them back to HQ. 😅
no clang and being able to build better in survival is my dream to go. I hope they add most of DLC blocks in the game too they added so much flavour and diversity. Overall I cant wait this sounds like it will be a fun game.
I missed 1st one, didn't had pc could play it and money to buy it even on sale alstho my passion to space games. Now I'm on steam sale rampage and definitely gonna get this one.

If any of KSH checks your comments, they should know that your reviews of SE2 have convinced me to go all in and buy the game before release. I've been playing SE for years, but recent MH issues have led to a loss of interest in any gaming. But, as I improve overall, your regular and fantastic teaser info has hopefully sparked a 'why' for me to get back to my games.
As somebody who's dabbled a very slight amount in making multiplayer games, I honestly agree. It's much much harder to add multiplayer to a game that's already had significant dev time
@@Zer0sLegionLet me start by saying I'm not denying that this is the case, but I haven't been able to find anything confirming that it's true and not speculation.
My biggest wish for SE2 (and SE1) is VR support. I guess it better be in plans from the beginning and everything added after gets accounted to be supported in VR. Also they showed us a bit about water physics but i haven't heared anything about water in 0 gravity yet. That would be interesting to see.

I've always slightly disliked that about SE, but it has gotten better over the years.
That could be the main point and you could possibly comment on that.
what i like the most is that the paint gun shows what colors is in use
So, all those times Xocliw had to stop himself from saying something about what was in the pipeline, he really meant it! Regardless, I'm stoked to see things next month!
Fantastic job covering everything! I have already got the pre-release pioneer edition.
The last time I was this early we thought the cable might be for something.
You know I always wait for your summary videos. There's no way I waste hours of my life watching Keen's livestreams. So thank you for your work.

Klang will find a way, just the slightest opening, a mod maybe, and Klang will return.
I'm on linux too and I can use any mod without problems
They were discussing native support for the game and servers
Linux modding has worked fine for me as well, so far
@@Zer0sLegion That would be so fricking good to have, especially to host the dedicated servers, tho I doubt they will do it for Space Engineers (1) :( it would be a crime to not do it for Space Engineers 2 tho! :D
@@progamersking_7434 Do you mind sharing what distro you are using, proton version, type of steam installation, gpu, launch options and any other detail that could be relevant? I would love to get it to work with mods as well!
The ability to use different sizes on the same grid will definitely make it so you really can make custom builds that can be unique
The first mod is already determined
CABLE!!!!
I will buy this game even only to play it years from now. I love developers who actually care about the game and community.
Long term what id like to see in SE2 is kinda some X4 style stuff NPC wise
the fusion of Space Engineers and X foundations, would result on the biggest most expanded game in the industry, not in the space genre but in all gaming industry itself
@ lol quite possibly
Pre ordered already!!!!!! Can't wait!!!.
i mean in theory u could fly into a gas giant alteast once xD
I have only been exited for a survival game since space engineers 1 now I want 2
10:29 I’m a Xbox player so this I good because we barely get any good mods except the Outlands mods.
i wouldnt expect much more than now. most mods wont work on consoles anyways as consoles are way more locked down so likely not much more than blueprints
I bought SE1 when there was just the asteroid platform with the red ship and the speed limit was like 20 m/s. I didn't get disappointed in fact the game became much more than I imagined at the start. SE2 is already preordered.
i pre ordered the game the second i watched this, with the DLC... i have no regrets! 👹
Cant wait for survival multiplayer to finaly come out!

Essentially what he says is:
1) Trust the development team.
2) Let the development team do things at their own pace. They have been working on the game longer than many of us have been playing.
3) DON'T BE IMPATIENT.
4) If there is something the community vocalizes for, odds are they will address it. (This is the main point that applies to passion projects exclusively)
5) MOST IMPORTANTLY: "Make the game good first before we start adding stuff like that." Hits the nail on the head of what should be at the forefront of video game developers these days.

RIP clang. ALL HAIL THE CABLE!
That backpack building reminds me of a feature in star-made, good touch

CABLE GANG
🫡
Dawg… what r u on about?
guys, I get your point, you can buy early version if you want. But they made solid money in SE1 and they are not any newbie in business. I would expect respectable move to release a full game, and not dragging EA for years.
I'm glad SE2 isn't > 60€ like most big games nowadays, I think that's what is going to make me buy the game
Ohhhhhhhhh I'm been waiting for this 🔥🔥
I recently started playing SE1 and the ONE thing that immediately started to annoy and disappoint me was the fact small grid and large grid are separated.
I'm very excited for the new system.
With the fluid mechanics I'd love to see that a multi stage rocket is actually a thing not just something I build to look cool.
If water becomes a thing, then I'm going to be extremely hyped. It'll be like stormworks, but you can also go to space.
Super excited to see this in development
Since ME came out all i have ever wanted was SE with that build ststem so yeah i will be gettig this!
This year I have to work on Christmas and am an call the entire night but I get a free day off next year as compensation. guess when I'll be taking that day!
Love the cable reaction bit.
Never been so excited for a game. And really love the subgriding and to come npc's
Sounds pretty amazing
I really hope the survival part is more interesting this time around so i can rope my friends into playing
From what they've said, it sounds like they want to rework that.
@Zer0sLegion Yea mate, you make a very good point. 👍
the possibilities are actually endless now
With eventual scripting support you could really make anything in se2
By then you could make your own cable even a grapple gun
Thanks Zer0, reely great video, appreciated much, helps a lot!
Hoping for more technical freedom in this version. I want specialized refineries, laser tools, powered armor.. etc.
It sounds like so different types of refineries are on the cards
As someone who has been with them from the earliest of the days, I am excited, I hope SE2 gets the decent speed SE deserved but we were so few to support the even lesser developers on the game.
If anything they already have half the ideas set by the community in terms of what people want in survival by mods, they just need to expand it further and make it more functional, along with making it moddable in terms of changes and improvements, along with adding raw mechanics.
While I dont expect a Star Citizen quality or time, I expect good things from them and us the community. Keen deserves all the support.
It would be cool if they added a handle for small builds with which you can pick it up
If they don't make the cable do anything, I bet you someone's gonna mod it into a functional thing. Probably a wire to help tether players to ships and blocks in space to either save up on Jetpack Fuel, or maybe it can be used as a tether for other players, allowing you to sacrifice some of YOUR power onto another player so they don't die, and/or drag them back to HQ. 😅
I can’t wait to create my own dream spaceship, I’m sketching some ideas.
Being able to build an underwater base sounds cool.
Submarine 😈
no clang and being able to build better in survival is my dream to go. I hope they add most of DLC blocks in the game too they added so much flavour and diversity. Overall I cant wait this sounds like it will be a fun game.
I missed 1st one, didn't had pc could play it and money to buy it even on sale alstho my passion to space games. Now I'm on steam sale rampage and definitely gonna get this one.
great vid, I'm just overly hyped about survival adding more complexity and npc's so I can establish my empire and mega factories :)
I cant wait to use 25cm blocks to build tiny drones and quads that will fly around my base and run short scouting missions
I watched the whole stream waiting for them to mention the cable, and when they finally did my heart sank for you bro.
🥹It's fine
Aren't brown dwarfs basically stars that didn't quite make it?
-Commander Shepard
Dame i would love a gas giant. I like to build a base in the clouds of Luma, one of the modded planets.
Also: Ten thousand years will give you such a crick in the neck.
Do you see any boarders from up here? What have boarders given us?
Great vid, Thanks! :)
I can't wait to restart the journey all over again 😌
If any of KSH checks your comments, they should know that your reviews of SE2 have convinced me to go all in and buy the game before release. I've been playing SE for years, but recent MH issues have led to a loss of interest in any gaming. But, as I improve overall, your regular and fantastic teaser info has hopefully sparked a 'why' for me to get back to my games.
Wooooo space engineers are making it my birthday gifts sense 27th of January is my birthday xD
gonna try to learn how to make mods for SE2, we're gonna need more guns and turrets, let the arms race begin!
I am sure the later Vertical Slices will make good use of the Cable! 😇🤪😁
gravity weapons are about to be insane
I think changing the waterupdate with the multiplayerupdate are a good thing, i want to play this game with my friends :)
We'll see, I think water is very locked in as third.
As somebody who's dabbled a very slight amount in making multiplayer games, I honestly agree. It's much much harder to add multiplayer to a game that's already had significant dev time
@@lunazara6775 Multiplayer is already in the game, it's just disabled until they're happy with it. Same for survival.
@@Zer0sLegionLet me start by saying I'm not denying that this is the case, but I haven't been able to find anything confirming that it's true and not speculation.
@@lunazara6775 They tweeted about it the other day
My biggest wish for SE2 (and SE1) is VR support. I guess it better be in plans from the beginning and everything added after gets accounted to be supported in VR. Also they showed us a bit about water physics but i haven't heared anything about water in 0 gravity yet. That would be interesting to see.
With regards to VR, they've said whilst they would like to look at it, they don't want to use development time at the moment to create a feature that only a small number of players will use.
With regards to water, stay tuned to Friday 😉
Imagine the water planet as Miller's planet from Interstellar. That would be terrifying
One of the best parts of that film
Yeah and the lag makes your game simulation speed much slower like "time anomalies". Actually that sounds interesting to have different simulation speeds in different parts of the world
SE1 currently works great on Linux with proton, but native support is always welcome.
