Thanking you for posting this video, it fixed my alarm. To clear the fault code had to disconnect the plus pole on the battery. Fair play to the Gentleman below who posted this tip.

Thanks for posting, as mentioned not a lot of info out there as most is for older models.
For anyone doing a replacement, once you have the car safety on jack stands and the wheel off you will need a T25 Torx, 10mm socket, 8mm socket or ratchet ring spanner and very small flat blade screwdriver. Total time should be 15-25 minutes depending on your skill level. Biggest problem for me was getting the electrical connector off as you can’t see exactly how to do it. Small screwdriver managed it after trying all sorts of picks etc.
Lastly, if installing a new original unit it will have a flat battery so will need to charge for a day or two before the dash fault clears.
    Hope this helps…

    My v60 is still under warranty but Volvo won't take it for a month as they are busy! Alarm goes off every time I lock it! Removing the fuse has saved me! Cheers guys!;

Thank you for your video. This also fixed my alarm. But! It might have been unnecessary. I measured 2.6 volts from my old battery, which is correct. I changed my battery anyway. When I reinstalled the Alarm Siren, the faulty code on my car display was still there. I had to remove the plus pole from the main 12 volt battery for a couple of minutes to reset the car system and after that the faulty code was gone.
So, before you do this. Try to re-charge your main battery with a good charger over night, then remove the plus pole for a couple of minutes and put back. This might fix it for you. I also recommend to read what code it is before you start a job this big, It might be something else causing the faulty code in your car.

Thanks for this tip! After successfully changing my alarm's battery, the alarm error message still appears. I will try your method tomorrow.

I'm going to try this method too as I have the same issue
Isn't it dangerous to disconnected the positive terminal while leaving the negative attached.
All the guides say always do negative first.
Or is the plus pole cable different separate to the terminal and can be removed safely?

Top tip. Don't use power tools to put the wheel arch liner back in. Half of the fitting is plastic and easy to strip the threads if you tighten with too much torque.

It would have been helpful if you had pointed out the six metal casing lugs that need to be ground off to separate the metal casing.

Thanks for sharing, i followed your video and got my battery changed and the message has cleared from the dash... But, when I lock the car up it still sits with the hazard lights flashing 🤦 I'm guessing I'll need to replace the whole module...

On 2010, removing the alarm fuse kills the central console so not a "fix". Nobody pays attention to those alarms anyway. My random power drain is from the "Engine Valves" turning on without the "key" in.

    Hi!
You had the siren on the passanger side (left side) and you have your steering wheel on the right side. Here in sweden we have the steering wheel on left side, do you know if my siren is on my driver side (the left side) or on my passenger side, (right side).
do you understand what i mean?

How did you remove the wire clip from the alarm? I have not been able to get mine loose, and I don't want to be more aggressive because it might break.

The reply is lots of Volvo's, Range Rovers, Discoverys, Fords use the same gold coloured one with the holes drilled in a circular pattern. Look on eBay and find a new looking one, they are interchangeable.

@@LeoClarke44 Hi Leo! I have been having the same issue on my 2014 S60 D4 R-Design. Tried changing the battery but the siren just started going off constantly a week later. I installed a different siren from a Ford Fiesta and that one doesn't appear to work at all. Are all interchangeable and I just got a dud? Thanks

@@SM-xe8rj Hi it needs a 2.4v 600mAh NiMH battery. The eBay one is a different shape but does the job and is cheap.
