Ya'll I am all in on Carnivore, you know that...but why does carnivore have to get so complicated? I get so confused and frustrated with all these trends that come and go. I see the huge drastic swings people take looking for some kind of quick fix...when what they really need to is to focus on consistency and fixing their relationship with food.
Ask yourself though as you are getting sucked into these trends if what you really need is just some consistency. And what is this new extreme supposed to do for you? What was the intended purpose in the first place? I tried to share a lot of context and nuance in this video, hopefully it comes across like I intended.

I agree! One thing that has been bothering me since my husband and I started carnivore 4 months ago is following someone and then seeing them get attacked because they are not being "carnivore enough". Excuse me? If you have moved off sweets, grains, flour, all the bad stuff, and you are in the realm of very low carb, I'm talking 20 carbs or less a day, and doing your best, then my goodness cut that person a break! We are dealing with addictions tougher to break away from than heroin or morphine! We don't need to be attacking each other because of a failure of perfection! This is going to turn people off who literally could have had their lives saved if it weren't for the carnivore police.

Totally agree with this video. I get so much flack for using a seasoning or eating dairy because “that’s not carnivore”. I don’t really care though because I am now off all autoimmune medication, NSAIDs, steroids, and blood pressure medicine. I am very slowly losing the weight but I feel my body is prioritizing healing. I’ve lost over 20 inches but not very much weight which says to me I was highly inflamed. My lupus symptoms are practically gone. My extreme photosensitivity is gone. While I was once basically a prisoner in my home hiding from the sun, I couldn’t even open the blinds without getting a rash and lots of itching, I can now go to the beach for the whole day with regular sunscreen and no fatigue. So carnivore with dairy and seasoning has given me freedom. I can play outside with the kids and go to the pool and everything else that everyone takes for granted. Sure the weight is coming off super slowly but I’ll take it because I no longer feel sick and am not a prisoner in my own home.

I was Strict Carnivore for 6 months. Now I have added a few pistachios, mushrooms, avocado, and spices. So am Ketovore. It helps me add more flavor to my foods and gives me some cravings for nutrients and variety. I am in this for the long haul. I have lost 55 lbs and my bs and bp are now almost normal. My pain is gone from the arthritis and fibromyalgia and I no longer sleep with cpap. Little by little I am getting better and better so yeah I will drink heavy whipping cream in my coffee. I will put a little variety in my diet. But I will never eat Frankenfoods again. Never going to chow on fruits or veggies and all that hurt me like the grains and sugars. When I first started as a carnivore 9 months ago I felt great and I did use spices. I was quite literally attacked in a comment section by a carnivore for not being carnivore enough after 3 months into my journey and I had enough of the online community at that point. I felt like I was being attacked by a crazy vegan or something and I just didn’t need it. Now today for the first time I just saw that Dr. Paul Saladino stopped 100% carnivore and is adding fruits. Honestly, when I heard that I could actually feel in my body some relief because I really would like to have a little bit of fruit. But honestly, I’m still confused as to what I will end up doing. I guess maybe this week I’ll still keep going keto carnivore until I can figure things out.

I’ve watched videos telling me I should have 80% of my calories from fat, another said I should eat a stick of butter a day, eat eggs, don’t eat eggs, etc. Finally landed on a podcast with Dr Chafee and Dr Baker, who were both railing over the current trend to make things more difficult and it’s overwhelming people. They both agreed start with water and beef as a basic elimination diet, then see how it goes after you are feeling better. That made sense to me, and your post is a God send as well. Craving for Ciabatta and Sourdough Breads is still strong but with the pain gone from my heel and my knee pain lessening there is no way I’m reverting to my former eating. That little voice that says one slice won’t hurt you knows I am unable to stop at one slice and once more the dam will collapse. I try to think like I did when giving up smoking - it’s today I focus on. I can’t think about not feeding my addiction for years or I’ll give up. I won’t even weigh myself as whatever I’ve lost it will only be a fraction of the needed loss and so I’ll give ammunition to the head voice to tell me to give up as it’s too hard.

Excellent talk Laura. Thank you for addressing this issue. This carnivore community can be a very harsh place. We come here looking for encouragement on this journey, yet many times it's so discouraging because of the judgmental comments of the carnivore police that nitpick and shame us because they don't agree with our personal choices to add things that aren't strictly carnivore foods. And as you say it is so off-putting to some newbies who are searching for help and encouragement. And some people just give up because it's too hard to maintain and they feel guilty for any little diversion from the approved path. How sad that is. Thank you for all you do to encourage us with the real life stuff. Please stay with us, don't let the crabs spoil your joy.

Since we are talking about people curing things with carnivore diet- here is my story!
So everyone knows I am 46, turn 47 soon- but look like I am in my early 30’s. I am now 122lbs and 5’7”. I have done a zero carb carnivore diet for almost 10 months now. Before I was saved by the carnivore diet I was 165lbs (weight would continue to creep up since I was 40 years old.) And I had so many other issues that are now cured. One was i had fibrocystic issues before carnivore. It built up over a six year period of western / SAD diet. Doctors said it was normal, nothing we can do. “Part of aging and now normal.” Nope! Then I tried the Mediterranean scam grain diet for 6 months- made things worse and even put me into peri menopause and many other issues like cysts that got to be quarter size round, so painful! Fibrocystic masses too were big! I was fed up and decided to go dig and dig to see if anything would reverse this! Found Dr. Baker, Dr. Berry, and Dr. Chaffee with carnivore diet! Then found out cruciferous veggies can ruin your thyroid and prevent natural absorption of iodine found in foods! I had eaten lean skinless chicken breast (a half of one maybe once a day), rices, and broccoli for 6 years- age 40-46 and daily! I want ladies to know they need to avoid cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, asparagus, and cauliflower to prevent fibrocystic breasts- but plants in general cause it! Your body needs iodine for your lady organs and all other organs, but especially your thyroid! They really mess up the thyroid which messes up your hormones and causes all other issues! One big domino affect! I ask people to go watch Dr. Chaffee with Dr. Sally Norton on plant toxins! Fibrocystic breast issues are now what doctors have settled as “normal!” I truly feel it is considered an auto immune issue / plant toxic illness of inflammation that can be reversed with carnivore! If you look the rates of fibrocystic illnesses is drastically increasing- including breast cancer- and it’s posted on line that nobody knows what causes those! They tell people not to eat saturated fats! I eat fatty meats of beef and eggs- and 8 months on carnivore no more cysts and i have only one smaller fibrocystic mass left that is super small- continues to shrink- not the large mass it once was- shrinking drastically on carnivore diet!
Carnivore diet cured so much for me!
    * No more perimenopause- completely reversed!
*Period cycles all timed perfect with 4 week intervals. And no PMS symptoms, but only the actual menstrual cycle itself!
    *No more night sweats
*No more waking every 2 hours at night!
*It used to take me 20 minutes or longer to fall asleep at night when I would first go to bed at night- before carnivore. Now it takes like a minute or less. Haven’t noticed since I am out fast!
    *No more life long eczema
    *No more cold hands
*No more cold body temp in general! Used to feel like a reptile - only warm in texas sun.
*No more IBS symptoms (gas, bloating, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea)
*No more feeling low energy by 12pm and zombie by 4pm
*No more purple looking hands in winter
    *No more brain fog
*No more arthritis that I felt in hands, knees, and hips- or elbows
*Lost 45+ pounds from former baby weight and peri menopause weight.
*Always had 20/20 vision with slight stigmatism- but in March doctor said my stigmatism is reversing!
*Don’t sunburn as easily anymore and tan well.
*Wrinkles around eyes seem to be much less. I am 46 and look like I am in early 30’s.
*Gums look super healthy. Dentist seems irritated as my teeth are not dirty when cleaning every six months. Think they know they won’t make money off me.
*No more sore chest from monthly periods- no swelling feeling of fullness or discomfort that prevented me from sleeping on my stomach. Now I sleep every night on my stomach!
*Fibrocystic Breast issues reversing! Almost all gone after 6 years of buildup!
*no cravings unless they are for meat
*no more angina symptoms before a period- which started about 3 years ago.
*No more feeling weak like almost passing out and dizzy around ovulation and periods
    * no more fingers swelling- that started a few years ago- rings kept being tight- is pattern I noticed. One ring I had resized larger and it’s super loose now. Will have to resize smaller.
*feel stronger- now lifting barbells not just hands weights. Dr. Baker said since I am 46, and 5’7” at 122lbs- need more resistance training to add more muscle weight. . So bought a 47lb barbell off Amazon and have 40 extra pounds added to it. Will continue to progress with that.
    * i had started growing grey hairs in one of my eyebrows, few hairs at a time, but no grey in my blonde hair yet - but assumed it was coming before Carnivore. Now on carnivore I have had no new grey hairs growing in eye brows and still no grey hair in my natural blonde hair. And in the sun it gets super light highlights.
    * no more body odor!
    * I used to get a little anxiety with large crowds- like if attending special events- but since on carnivore I don’t get it that much.
*I was a bit OCD before carnivore, but so much more relaxed so barely like that.
    * I was a relaxed person before, but somehow am even more relaxed and never stress about things.
*Since I was a young child my sense of smell has been terrible. But going on 10 months on carnivore my sense of smell has gone crazy! I smell things even far away! Amazing!
*no more allergies! I was allergic to cedar and oak pollens- and mold- but since carnivore I am no longer reacting to those outdoor pollens which is amazing!
If I think of anything else will add. ☺️👍🏻
I know when people go on carnivore they are trying to heal something, but if they aren’t like me and notice small things- they may not notice they are healing way more than they realized- things plant foods were causing! And they need to remember, processed foods are made from plants- but so are whole foods (raw or cooked!) they are all toxic!
The carnivore diet cures! ☺️👌🏻 The body is a network made of multiple gears- and if one gets messed up it causes a whole domino affect of problems like I had! The carnivore lifestyle is not a fad, it’s the ancestral human way of eating! Go Carnivore for a few months and see how you feel! ☺️👍🏻

English is not my 1st language and please correct me if I am wrong, but I feel like the problem may be the more modern use of the word 'diet' has strayed into meaning something other than it used to. The modern way of understanding the word, seems to be 'weight loss regime' or 'health improvement regime' and expects a 'trend name' to come in front of it. So we now feel like we need a new word that means something closer to what 'diet' used to mean in common language.

I've lost 264 lbs on a keto diet with intermittent fasting/OMAD. I'm an old timer to low carb diets, starting with Adkins in the 70's. The newer keto and IF trends seem to keep adding and veering away from the basics. You are so right; the modifications make me crazy! I need to stick to the old school version of keto and IF to keep my weight down. But every new UA-camr has a variation to the basic keto diet regime. It seems that no one wants to truly put in the work, so they make up exceptions to the basic rules. An example, NO SNACKING, PERIOD. But how many videos can you find of keto snacks? LOTS.
I find myself going back to the original ketogenic diet foundations that started with Jason Fung, Butter Bob,, and others of ten plus years ago. "Back to basics" is always MY best move. I disregard most of the newer keto UA-camrs. I just know that for ME, eating keto cheesecakes, dips and pork rinds, keto ice cream, and keto breads and muffins just stall me. We arent grazing animals, we do not need snacks to be full. For example: ill go back to my village sometimes, people eat meat, fish, wild game, vegetables, and even root plants, no grains are grown there. People work hard manual labor yet you do not see them being hungry and grazing on food 6 times a day. Most of the keto snacks has just enough carbs and sugar to keep us consuming.

Not sure where you are, but I do this. It had never occurred to me since I'm not a huge steak person (I know, I know) and I'm single. Once I saw a woman who bought very nice looking who ribeyes from Costco, I was inspired. And I don't have a Costco. 😂
But one of my grocery stores (Harris Teeter) sells whole NY strips in their Angus line and I've become quite the butcher even though it's not my favorite cut. They're actually quite good, though, and a real bargain when on sale which is when I buy them! And I've always bought whole pork loins on sale and cut them into a couple of small roasts and cut the rest into chops. I prefer Niman Ranch, but even just store wrapped pork loin is great. With both of these, I sometimes ask them to cut it in half and then cut a couple of chops off of each half. Another smaller chain grocery store locally (great meat and where I buy the bulk of my meat)has deals fairly often on
Saturdays where they cut steaks to order at no extra cost. They are never exactly happy about it, but I buy an entire rib eye or NY strip, etc and have them cut it up into steaks to order. I don't think that was exactly their plan - they planned to sell full priced or nominally discounted steaks and not what I do. But they don't specify so they can't really argue. 😂 if you have The Fresh Market, that's where I'm talking about and they sell prime, quasi restaurant quality meats. Not cheap, but not terrible on sale. Even their "regular" choice meat is good quality. It's out there! BTW, for an example - I live in an area in the South where there are 3 small towns that have sort of grown together. But we have no warehouse stores, no Target, no Trader Joe's, no local butcher.

My husband was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, without any evidence of outside legions. After 2 years of immunotherapy, we began researching a way to fight cancer moving forward. Denying his body of sugar/carbs was the direction we chose to take. We are currently on a “treatment holiday “ as the doctor does not want to give us a false hope for the future. We choose to change their minds. The benefits we have experienced have been better than anything we have ever tried. Dr Ken B says eat meat that fits your budget some dairy if you can handle it etc. it was so simple and I keep it that way. I eat no carbs or sugar and don’t miss them. I eat meat of all varieties, bacon some dairy eggs and I even eat fruit occasionally. I enjoy my morning coffee. While I was on keto I always craved bread but that craving has disappeared. This is a diet I can sustain, I am 89 and I plan to live until I am 100 and beyond. At first I ate 3 meals a day but have transitioned to 2 without any effort on my part. I guess you could call it relaxed carnivore 😁. Thank you again for addressing this particular problem. Not everyone wants to eat raw meat or only exist on beef water and salt. That is not joyful. And not everyone wants to be fasting this and fasting that. Incidentally I love sardines but wouldn’t eat them for 3 days. Keep it simple keep it sustainable.

Thank you for this video! I am in week 1 of the carnivore diet. I just discovered the carnivore diet on like 6-29.. I watched a LOT of videos about it, and everything seemed like it was just making sense and I felt like i was getting so many possible answers to so many of my problems that I told my friend I was thinking about trying this, and she rattled off all the stuff we all grew up learning, and I would show her the videos and even looked up some sites, and one of them being from Harvard, she was questionable still but very supportive. So i started to try it on Saturday, thinking i would give it at least a week and see how it would go.. This week has been amazing! I've had so many changes happen this week that's been for the better including my blood sugar has been maintaining in the 70-80s all week and i forgot to take my ozempic last weekend! Almost ALL of the swelling and pain in my legs have gone away.. I still have new sores with my skin but it's different from before, this feels more like the toxins are leaving and that's how it's doing it, not sure but it makes sense, and I've lost 4 lbs since Monday! I'm feeling great!
But yes, I was noticing through other channels how there seems to be so many "subsets" of this diet, it just all seemed so confusing. I'm not a numbers person, they just don't make sense to me, so all this counting this or counting that, it just won't work for me simply because i just don't have the brain for all that.. So i need the more simplified things, and so what you said just made things so much easier for me! I got enough things on my plate right now, I don't need to add anymore of these crazes to my plate to make it any harder!.
P.S. This is the first time i've spoken to anyone outside of personal friends about going carnivore.. very much an introvert so talking a lot really isn't a strong set for me.. hope that's ok :)

I feel my best eating beef, bacon, chicken wings, pork & water. Eating anything else besides what's considered carnivore makes my arthritis & lymphedema flair up. I allow myself a pickle and some spices. I’ve never felt better. I don’t do 24-48-72 hour fasts. I only do if. I’m 53, post menopausal. I’m down 35# and I was only going to do 30 days as a “diet” to lose weight, but I feel so good now, it’s my way of eating/living. I’m 7 months in and ironically, I eat sardines every morning. However, I did buy a few cans of sardines (never ate one before in my life!) and I'm happy to say I have incorporated them into my diet. I usually eat a can 2-3 times a week. I find them satiating and I like that they are nutrient dense. In that sense I appreciate that the trend came along but I used it only to add variety to my carnivore-ish way of eating.

Agree with all you said. Dr. Annette Bosworth treats very ill patients, many dealing with addiction. It is high in Omega 3's which are also often lacking in the diet of ill patients. Her protocol has been blown way out of proportion, just as you said.

I feel the underlying problem with carnivore and keto channels that push fads is the need to generate more likes and subscribers. UA-cam has become a primary source of income for some channels and these content creators lose focus. I love carnivore because it wiped out my snack cravings, gave me a satisfying sense of being full after a meal, and lets me go hours without the need to feed my face. I have dropped almost all of the keto channels I started following in 2020, when I started my keto journey. Many have developed their own lines of supplements. If you’re eating a proper diet for YOU, supplements are not necessary. I can eat dairy and fruit once a week as a treat, but it doesn’t trigger a craving. Carnivore is simplicity itself and I am not interested in new keto or carnivore fads. Love LMNT! I’ll never ever touch a diet soda again.

Such important information!! My husband and I both started carnivore 11/2022, We've never counted calories or kept track of macros or limited any specific carnivore foods. Never followed any trends. We eat the carnivore foods that we enjoy when we feel hungry and until we're full. We've each lost over 50 lbs in our first 6 month of eating carnivore and have maintained this healthy way of eating since. One of the best benefits of carnivore for us is that we don't have to weight, measure, limit, etc! It's so incredibly freeing to get away from all of that and just eat and ENJOY your food! The ones that say you can only eat eggs still warm from the nest and grass fed beef freshly slaughtered, etc. I don't live on a farm or near a farm and I don't want to pay big bucks to have all my food shipped in from across the country when I can go to my local grocery store and buy meat and eggs. I refuse to feel guilty because I don't have access to well water and freshly harvested liver. I also refuse to eat omad because it reminds me of when I was a teen starving myself to be skinny. We don't have an obesity problem, we have a hormone problem and the obesity will not go away until we balance those hormones. I hate fish but have had great results with sardines. The eating the stick of butter was explained and largely misinterpreted. Biohacking is all about trying new things and sharing results with your community. I may be late to the party, but this is a very necessary video. People have often taken social media trends as gospel instead of doing real research; whether with nutrition or exercise. The best thing for people is to find life-long sustainable approaches to health, and know what is only short-term. We are also under more pressure than ever to adopt a label or victim status (which is what government and corporations want, by the way).

For me, I'm using these challenges to try to figure out a way to get my ketones higher. Eating a "normal" keto or carnivore diet doesn't produce many ketones for me. I struggle with iron deficiency with brain fog and I have found that the little bit higher ketone levels really help my brain work better and it's become important to me to find a way to have those higher levels more often. It's not about weight loss. I know that you do periodic fasts as resets. I would love to be able to fast to get my ketones up but unfortunately my body doesn't respond well and my ketones take forever to go up and I feel horrible. For me these challenges are a substitute for fasting. I understand that some people can't fast or do these challenges because of underlying eating disorder tendencies, but I don't think they should all just be thrown out as tools because some people aren't able to do them for the right reasons or don't happen need them at all. Everybody needs to choose what is best for their own body and mind. I do think your video offers a balanced view because you allow for people that do use the challenges for the intended reason... Just trying to calm down the insanity around them and doing them for the wrong reasons. I totally agree. ❤️

I’m really glad to see you said something about why you experiment with different things. I have chronic migraines and the higher my ketones the better my migraines are so I did try the sardine fast (I like sardines anyways 😆) and did find some improvement overall with my migraines since my ketones were increased. I think as long as people have the right mindset about WHY they are experimenting or trying something new it’s fine. I think it is different with people who suffer with disordered eating/ eating disorders or people just doing things for a quick weight loss “hack”. I saw Janet Greta made a video about this video and was kind of appalled because even though Now she states she has an ED, she has never apologized or taken responsibility for her content and or that she was a “keto coach” while eating 1200 calories. As UA-cam content creators people need to take more accountability for potential harm they could cause. And at the end of the day people need to know themselves and do there own research before jumping into anything. Just thank you for always explaining your content and WHY you do what you do.

When I get up in the morning and continue my fast until noon, I seem to need a little bit of carbs or I get dizzy. My own body is telling me: 'Hey I haven't needed to making my own sugar in years, don't expect me to learn new tricks at this age'.

I never ate sardines. But I tried the 3 day challenge and WOW! - When I do, my BG goes down from 6.5-7.5 to about 5.1-5.9 after just the first two tins of sardines. As soon as I eat meat again, my BG goes up again to the 6.5-7.5
If I do not eat carnivore/ketovore my BG spikes up to 12mmol/L
Sometimes I can barley walk because of auto-immune, and when I then eat Sardines, the pain disappear and I have flexibility in my legs.
We are so individual. I never thought I will eat fish, and now I do a 3 day sardine challenge nearly every week. Michaela Peterson can only eat beef for her health, we as carnivores eat only animal products as it makes us feel better and heal us. We all have to find what works for us.
I agree, not everyone has to be strict, but some of us do. And just as we do not judge people who are more ketovore or someone who add spices, the same why I ask, please don't judge people like me, that NEED to do the sardines for health.

now that carnivore is kinda blowing up on social, this is a really positive message to put out. i slowly cut foods out to get to ‘sensible carnivore’ and the weight is coming off steadily but more than that i feel better, energy is sky high, sleep is better and i’m excited to eat in a way that feels sustainable.
excellent message you’re putting out here, Laura! Your videos were instrumental in me approaching carnivore in a sensible way.

Same. Even with totally NON-strict food choices but mainly cutting Sugar and Highly processed foods, 40lb melted in one year.
Vegan and Carnivore are not enemies of one another, they have a common enemy - Sugar and highly processed foods (like flour, seed oils, etc)

Thank you for this. I've only been carnivore for 1.5 yrs. I watched way too many videos, and after about 6 months in, almost gave up because it became overwhelming. I then remembered KISS, which I think Dr. Berry may have mentioned in one of his videos. I moved to what works best for me, and no longer feel pressured or guilty if I'm not following the extremes. I no longer consider a cinnamon roll once a month a "cheat". That's a guilt loaded term.

Thank you for this video! I've been Keto for about a year and have lost almost 100lbs. I recently called out someone in a comment about ppl making keto or carnivore like a cult. If you do this or that ppl want to call you out and burn you at the stake. It becomes like a hive mind and if you are doing anything not within the hive mind the daggers come out. To me, that is a cult mentality. I would be interested in doing carnivore but I'm not a huge fan of beef except in the form of ground beef and I also enjoy a veggie now and then lol. I would say I'm carnivore adjacent LOL. I enjoy lean proteins good healthy fats and don't do commercial bready products. I try to read labels and stay 90-96% clean food. I'm on what used to be called Food Stamps so all the grass-fed isn't doable but that's ok, I still do what I can. I'm also a tough cookie so if anyone came for me they may regret it but I'd do it in a "loving" way lol. As I told the person who sounded like a cult member, everyone has their own journey and we are all adults. Let ppl do what works for them and you (the person I was addressing) do what works for you. That's all any of us can do.

It’s fantastic to see a normal person with normal concerns commenting on the journey, not an ‘influencer’ doing it just for clicks, likes, shares and the validation. I eat keto/carnivore predominantly, but my whole my current business and career involves honey and alcohol! 🤷‍♂️

Laura, thank you so much for this reminder! I don’t need to tweak what has worked for me for 5 years. I started Carnivoire the same time as you. I spent decades dealing with compulsive overeating. Carnivoire completely cured that behavior for me.
You’ve been my favorite influencer from day one. Thank you for all you do!

Sardine Fast is Dr. BOZ this is specifically for fixing insulin resistance and as a type 2 diabetic it really worked. The science and data behind is very interesting. Ya gotta find what burns off the fat on the liver.

Thank you for being a levelheaded voice in this community. I could not even get excited about carnivore if all I was eating was steak and water 🤢 love that you show variety that enables you to stay consistent!

Laura you’ve been an inspiration from the beginning and this video summarizes it.. no label here but we have been so immensely educated from all of the carnivore community, and that has helped us pave our own menu and journey to healthy eating!! Yes, the ‘maybe I should be doing that’ thought has entered but what has most inspired is hearing those heartfelt moments of channeling thru struggles, binges, weaknesses, real life stuff.. I tend to eat for comfort, and here you say no sweets, we’ll only go back to them… so thank you all for guiding us to a life of longevity✨!!
