This should work fine for my family. My autistic son loves his chewers. My plan is to work on one side of his mouth while it's propped open with a chewer.

My son is 5, mentally his understanding is 8 months, physically he's closer to 8 and hates things near his mouth.
This would not only be traumatic but probably impossible. I was interested but honestly this won't work for my family.

I don't understand why you would even force a saliva test on children with autism knowing how utterly frustrating and exhausting this process is. if you want people to participate then you should have come up with a blood test to make life - already difficult for families on the severe end of the spectrum - a wee bit easier. Oh and that tip about modelling the process with one of your other kids, wish it were as simple as all that. I really wonder about you guys now.

I agree. A blood sample is 1000x simpler. I have gone to LabCorp numerous times to have bloodwork done on my son who has autism. It was a breeze. THIS is a nightmare trying to get saliva samples.

we went with the saliva route because a blood test would definitely be traumatic. This won’t be easy but definitely better than blood test.
