It's awesome how they switch back and forth for leads even while singing...crazy good musicians
How they write such dynamic songs, while still keeping everything upbeat and fun is beyond me.
I feel the same way! I'm by no means a shitty guitarist but the way have done shit from the get go to present day is wild af. Esp current stuff 🤯
When i met Alan at Warped Tour last year, i asked "How the hell did you guys get so good at guitar and play that well live!?" and he told me "practice, practice, practice lol". Well NOW ive been practicing this for a hour now and i got the entire song down perfect!!! im so excited!! lol im glad they posted this video!
20,000 views and no dislikes...proof these guys are the most underrated band in modern rock music.
Now I have to figure out how to play two guitars at once
I love how they constantly switch between lead and rhythm...its so cool to see such cool songwriting
This band is too fucking cool. I'd definitely like to see a few more of these. Its wild to see how they switch up parts.
i love how this band take turns to play the lead parts!
Ik this is an old video but the way Dan slaps the strings in the chorus is beyond my comprehension. And I love it
i ran into dan at 2010 warped tour on the way out and i cried and he hugged me, i cried like a little girl. that man is my hero
Dan and Alan are both insanely good guitar players. They are just such a solid duo, and to sing while playing some of those rhythms is just so fucking impressive. Great guys, and a great band.
Mustaches get remembered, Beards never die.
its amazing that they can sing so well while playing these parts, saw them live a few days ago, they were fucking awesoome!
Ridiculous how good these guys are
AND they are playing it on non-cut away acoustic's! BEAST!
this is why you guys are so good, the guitar work of all your songs is so complex and works so well together. ive always said that covering you guys is so difficult because you just wont get the same sound and "feel"
thanks for posting!
So tight! Unbelievably talented.
omg they make it look so effortless.
I couldn't see any of it clearly enough to "learn how to play". But it's still awsome to watch them play.
Damn they do it so effortlessly, anyone have tabs for this??
An absolute Masterpiece♥️
this is like so epic and awesome. i'm gonna really learn how to play this song so that i could play along to this vid
this is the awesomest video ive ever seen
what a awesome video D:
do more of these!!
Four Year Strong's guitarists can definitely play in thrash metal bands. They're too good for pop punk genre. I wonder what's their secret of playing fast intricate guitar riffs while singing simultaneously. Definitely not an easy thing to do.
well, i think that helped a lot!
the angle is not perfect but you can definitely see whats going on!
thanks guys!
those are some impressive riffs and breakdowns...and the fact that they both can sing and play complicated guitar parts at the same time, BRAVO!! @MrDonkeydong155
More!!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hope theres more of this on the new album
these guys r awesome santas
this angle did not help much...
Spicy Enough!
Mind = blown
2:21 till 2:35 is sweet!
Same here when warped came to Vegas, they were beyond amazing.
wowww
Bad ASS!!!
I like how theyre playing along with acoustics when the soundtrack is from the album hahaha
lovin' the beard
@cvdpoel dude its because they play at the same level so they split up all the parts, not only does it make it more complex, it makes the song that much cooler
FYS are so good they can play the same guitar at the same time
this makes me want to learn guitar.
I need one of those acustics ha
forever four year strong
How could I even learn this just by watching?
@cvdpoel It actually makes sense to do it that way so it sounds like its layered
this is just fucking sick.
I cant figure out what alan is doing at 1:13 :( Someone help please!
This is beautiful. I picked up on oneee mistake though ;) at 2:22 Alan misses his part of the "duh duh" before the breakdown starts hehehe
Alan! You forgot the last "chug-gah" on 2:23. Apart from that, awesome!
@IAmFourYearStrong an thank you
Didn't know Ewan McGregor played guitar so damn good.
because their beard is so powerful they can make acoustic guitars sound like electric guitars. BEARD POWER!
1,000th like!!
@IAmFourYearStrong i can do it :D i finally knew how to play it :D wich guitar do you want to learn?
@tpayne712 Haha. But seriously, what kind of guitars they use? i've seen live performances and they were using Gibson Les Paul, but i wonder what mics they have...emg maybe?
@Chickenwing429 Yeah playing lead and singing is hard so they play the "easy" part when it's their turn to sing your right!
@breathbefore im gonna learn both parts eventually i think but to begin with i wanna learn alan's part(the right side of the video) could u really do it? Thanks
It Must Really Fuck To Be Four Year Strong Right Now
@hitthelights121 1st: They might have 2 guitars that look the same.
2nd: Maybe the videos weren't recorded at the same time.
@cvdpoel i think it's probably to do with when they're singing. they go to rhythm when they sing :)
Any idea what Alan plays at the end of the chorus? U cant really hear it in the studio version
@JTxFlannelEnergy @PatS1t Hey thanks for the encouragement, I'm pretty new to guitar tho so my right hand doesn't have the strumming skills to be able to play this stuff on one string. Growing a beard sounds like a good first step though...
EPIC FUZZ
WHERE'S THE BASS VIDEO?
Quite a few are, but the ones that aren't in D Standard are in Drop D
i wanna hear this on the acoustic. plz
@cvdpoel They swith depending on whos singing :) of you look at the chorus for example you can notice it! :)
DO you guys know if this is in Standard D or Drop D
I wouldn't be surprised if someone went down from our chimney on Christmas Eve and then shout "OH MY GOD IT'S DAN O'CONNOR"
don't look down
@FindingTheEverlight D standard (DGCFAD) and
0-0-0-0-11-12-0-0-11-12-0-0-0-0-11-12-0-0-11-12-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-... etc. repeat
but very good guesses
Anyone know what tuning this is Even in?
Those acoustic guitars must have some crazy pickups
ohh. i see thanks
@cvdpoel They switch it up because they also sing.
@Palmother Yeah, I love bread!
what tuning they use?
i like how they play heavy music on acoustic guitars
Is unfair that there are people so pro, fuck
All songs are a fucking master piece
it's not very difficult, I actually could learn it from lookin at them, it's D standard, I'll try to do a video playing it, the chords on chorus are : D, G, D, A, B,A, G, D, G, A, B, A, G, D(on the 5 string), A, G, D(on 5) , A
try it :)
@Greendaykid645 same here
what tuning is this?
@Sirswat1 standard, theyve always played standard d
...aaand let's not forget they did this all while singing the entire song with different parts... as far as i know, they are the 2nd and 3rd who can play different riffs while singing after Les Claypool (try Primus for research purpose)
I wanted to learn the bass line... damn
This video helped a lot but it's still hard to figure out the higher notes. WTF is Alan playing in Dan's part of the chorus?
dan its like going hard. hahahaha
is this standard tuning?
i having trouble with transition form nose itch to power cord :S :)
they should have played this facing forward its sill hard to tell what they are playing! BALLS!
Just realised they used the same guitar and filmed at different times.
tuning?
are most of their songs in D standard? or just this one?
chuck norris lives in dans beard its that epic
I'm glad that I wasn't the only one that thought he looked like him
Tunning?
acoustic :D
