Now, two years later, it isn’t only the Ste. Claire that this video commemorates. The Conners Creek power plant in the background had the final section demolished last year. The last of the Seven Sisters and Twin Brothers is also lost to the sands of time.
It didn't seem like a cut-rate amusement park to an eight-year-old in 1970. In fact, the boat ride was just as exciting as the park itself. I feel bad for the owners, who invested plenty of their money for what was likely a doomed cause in any case. The Columbia and other museum ship efforts throughout the Great Lakes are not proving economically viable. Thanks for this, SetecX.
Yeah, it was 80's for me; everything was a bit more worn by the time I got to play around in there. It had an appeal, and true the boat rides were half the fun. Found a documentary about the island; ua-cam.com/video/XM4Aq0PItbU/v-deo.html Kinda kew.

A lifetime of memories on the Ste. Claire. Thanks for sharing...
❤️ looking at boblo boat & detroit river on sunny hot day
This is the last boat I was on back in 1978, with the ARA Servies, Inc.
She WILL rise again . . .
Nancy K detroit is a phoenix. It always raises from the ashes.
Sorry but the boat is dead it's very sad
I would be happy if nancy proved me wrong
@@capconco she is awaiting restoration
Does this world understand the simple pleasures of the Bob-Lo boat trip and fun day? I was born in 1962. No, that world is long gone.
moe larry and curly were welding that day
More childhood memories set ablaze... thanks again, Detroit. Bizarre to think that we rode on that thing to go to cut-rate cedar point.
