Viking Octantis cruise ship - Detroit River - 5/11/22
The 2nd time the Viking Octantis cruise ship has stopped in Detroit. Not the best place to stop visually. Heading back to Toronto and it will be back this way again in a week or so.

Wow, that's a beautiful ship!
An absolutely amazing film, and the ambient makes it all cum through with such an intensity. Like true Art.
Wow. Thanks for watching and for the nice comment.
This is the last boat I was on back in 1978, with the ARA Servies, Inc.
Beautiful video of her. I love this video. Thank you for sharing this with everyone.
great lakes have lots of cruise ships...seems the areas where they dock or so obscure and desolate
I explored this place today. Never again.
Boring?
@@SetecX No, It was absolutely amazing, but I have reasons. 1: I'm a 13yo who walked 1.75 miles from my home to the building by myself without my parents knowing, which was a long walk. 2nd: I went up a staircase, thinking it was the staircase that would lead to the roof, but it wasn't. I went back down, and the staircase partially collapsed, forcing me to jump down 5 feet risking my feet getting cut up by jagged metal below. This made me realize that I'm a little to young for stuff like this, and not mentally prepared, as I was whining thinking I was trapped lol.
@@ThatKidExplorer Oh man yeah that's a bunch of sketch. I forget which stair goes to the roof. I wanna say the more east one. One time I encountered people that were living in there but they weren't hostile. But you never know what you will find in places like this.
@@ThatKidExplorerPitfall!😂
@@frankstruthers7137 I ended up going there again. I actually loved the place and now miss it with its demolition.
I didn't know they had postal service mail boats, pretty neat.
Beautiful footage. Thank you.
Nice footage of Happy Ranger.well done job!
One of my new favorite ships , almost yacht like and also class 1A hull (ice breaking capable)
Really not a office build ship but build by the people who sail there own vessels for a long time and know what they want.
Great job, beautiful flight and a beautiful ship!
She is named after a Dutch resistance fighter that gave a lot of Germans herpes during the second world war.
She's a knockout!
I shouldn't be surprised anymore but . . . it's amazing to me how few people you see (if any) on these boats.
Beautiful
Cinema mate salute.
Nicely done!
Those blades are HUGE! "That's what" - She said.
Nice to see you flying again!
What kind of drone did you use?
DJI Phantom 4
En donde queda este paso marítimo, por favor alguien que sepa.
Does this world understand the simple pleasures of the Bob-Lo boat trip and fun day? I was born in 1962. No, that world is long gone.
nearly the size of my package
@Oppa Oppa if u think a girth of 20 meters or so is a pencil
Uma grande ''canoa'' como se fala aqui na Amazônia
Tamam coçuklarımız şehit olmayacak bunda sonra
does vaguely resemble a starship
Would not have been that bridge made a little broader? Write it down, it is going to be banged one day.
LOOK AT THE FILTH in that water. Pathetic and the americans dont give a fuck
What a beautiful video my friend. Outstanding 👏🏼
Thank you very much!
Is this a steamer
I did some digging on the ship history. It was built in 1957-58 as a steamer. converted to diesel in early 2000s. A fresh water exhaust & stack scrubbing system was installed in 2015 to contain Sulphur and soot pollution. The steam is the result of the cleaning process.
This video brought back memories for me! I got a traffic ticket on that very bridge 25 years ago! Thanks! 😅
WOW! Fantastic video! So far, the only one that gives you a true idea of the size of this amazing ship. Thanks for sharing.
My father worked at the Ford Rouge plant 1930 -1965. When I got drafted in '67 it was "bye bye".
☹️2 minute mark see The Joe 🥊 in the background 🏒 👍🏻
If she's dropping off iron ore, what's the purpose of opening the hatches? She's a self unloader so it shouldn't be necessary to have all of them open like that. I get having one or two open to prevent any possibility of a vacuum forming, but all of them?
I think it's for visually monitoring progress. Not sure if they have a camera system to watch inside the holds or not. It's also possible that opening hatches is for dust abatement. Not sure how much dust gets generated by the handling below decks, but any chance of getting it to blow up and out rather than having it accumulate down there, I guess it's worth the effort.
This is so much more interesting than most of the ship videos I've seen..really impressive drone work. You deserve many more subs for real!
Wow, thank you!
Now, two years later, it isn’t only the Ste. Claire that this video commemorates. The Conners Creek power plant in the background had the final section demolished last year. The last of the Seven Sisters and Twin Brothers is also lost to the sands of time.
One of my favorite ships, no tugs needed.
Far from the days of the Fitz and other older Freighters of the Great Lakes
🙂👍
Awesome ship chases and catching the pilot boats as well. Super liked.
I am so happy to find another ship chaser like you. Awesome footage and great flying. Fully watched and super liked.
Thanks a lot!
Wow that place is so ugly it's beautiful.
That’s the first step of a lot of Ford cars and trucks. Rouge Steel on the left and the Ford Rouge Assembly next to it. It’s an enormous complex. Also nearby is a refinery, a salt mine, rail yard, and a lot of industrialization.
Где это?
@@niks5537 Детройт, Мичиган
Wow!!
Threading the needle !
My great Gamas house was 6 blocks away from here. I used to go watch the ships come through when i was a wee tike!
Nice video. My husband is on that ship right now. He's a wheelsman. It wasn't his watch when you took that video though.
Surely that's the Arthur M. Anderson docked portside of Algoma Intrepid (starts at about 2:00).
Very nicely done. Great lighting and music.
Nice job btw
