    Thanks for sharing an attempted fix and final fix on the phone. I am a retired AT&T special circuit tech and highly appreciate your videos. I see there is so much more to add to my learning of miniaturized circuit board repair. I guarantee that our learning curve is different, but I see the challenges and will keep you, Paul Carlson ( Mr. Carlsons Lab ) and Louis Rossman on my list of mentors. Let's keep learning FUN ! J K

    I started microsoldering with a $100 USB microscope and a $80 2in1 rework station. The first repair I ever attempted was the iPhone 7 audio ic and got it first go with no sweat. I have done over 20 of them now first attempt with out a hiccup until the other day I was telling my buddy how much of a legend I was and the chip flipped up....After a second reball and reflow she was all good. I have always used Marks gravity drop method and it is hard to fuck up.
    2years later I am geared up with hakko, quick, amscope, ect and own every piece of gear anyone could ever want; I predominantly work on MacBooks now and make a very lucrative living from this art.
    A lot of my success can be attributed to you Jason, and Louis, Jessa, Mark, Paul, and Paul D.
    Thanks heaps guys and long live the champions!

    I'm about 15 minutes in to the video, and planning on watching the rest. Just wanted to say thanks for uploading this. Really interesting to watch these kinds of videos and learn some troubleshooting techniques for diagnosing my own hardware problems. In the case of recent iPhone models, I've now learned to leave it to people with better tools and more patience than I have. Will definitely keep you in mind should I ever have a phone die. Truly appreciate your sharing.

    You're definitely right about the finesse for removing the audio ic. I haven't developed the flip technique, it's on my list. Currently I prefer moving the chip laterally first to confirm all pads are wetting temp before pulling up.
    The amount of heat required feels like it's almost twice as much as the Meson was for the 6/6+. I'm amazed at how well this board eats heat.

    Hey man, thanks for what you do. I had my iPhone repaired last year by you and has been working amazingly great! It was a different issue than this one. Unfortunately, I ran into this issue as well. I was transferring my data and I left my phone unattended and I saw the black screen with the white apple logo on it (so similar to this except for what the screen looked like) I will more than likely be sending it back to you because I want keep my data intact... I do not want to lose it. Now, quick question: did it take you to the welcome screen because the phone was already reset or will the repair reset the phone and make you lose all data?

    Nice video! Have a similar A1784 phone (iphone 7P) in the same boat. Will review the process to fix the same ball. Any reason why you did not just attempt to reheat the IC from top side rather than remove the entire BGA and then reball to fix? Perhaps missed it but this is not the tristar IC - correct? We have some of those incoming, just in case

    Hello. to fix pin C12 audio and do not need to remove it, you can insert a wire. the thread is inserted through the side of the audio chip by removing the bumpers (only the nand side) and r3201.
    this variant is tested and running, it raises the risk of disturbing the baseband

    • @OnYourSquare
      @OnYourSquare 4 роки тому

      There's no need. The wire, the trace and that leg of the IC, all solidify together. The only real danger of bridging is while the chip is being heated.

    hi- Enjoy the way you talk and explain. You are so easy to listen to. Glad I found your videos. I am having the worst time with a hand me down iPhone 7 from my brother. I have tried everything- Programs that I have downloaded and trying to put it in recovery mode and so on. The phone is stuck on the logo and that is it. At times I will have charged it the whole night only to take it off the charger and it will not last long. Based on that is this phone fixable? Or should I forget about it and just buy a new one. He had said that it was frozen because he took so many photos of his son that it jammed the phone. Help- I trust your advice. Thank you in advance for any any of your words of wisdom- K

    • @markbeshay
      @markbeshay 2 роки тому

      Not sure if you’re still dealing with this issue anymore but although it definitely is fixable, I wouldn’t say it’s worth it. It could very well be a lot cheaper to get a newer iPhone (doesn’t have to be the newest or even brand new) but you’d get a much better deal that way. In terms of your iPhone 7 I’d say put it up on eBay explaining your issue and if nobody’s interested just get the trade in value and use it towards a newer phone with your carrier or sell it for parts through one of those recycling services. Goodluck!!

      I bought it from a local insurance agency that used it as a customer checkout counter. I just got lucky that the top-deck was the right height for the microscope post to go through. I drilled a big hole and then mounted the base directly to the bench top. I didn’t plan to do that when I got the bench. It just happened to work after I struggled finding a good spot for the heavy, factory base that came with the microscope stand.

    My iPhone has been stuck in a bootloop for the past month, and only now am I taking it to the apple store to repair it. I was very worried about having to do a full restore and erasing all the data off of my phone, especially since I don't have any recent backups to restore from and I have all my important data on the phone. This gave me a bit of hope when it comes to getting a my phone to a place where I could back it up for good measure and transfer the data to a new device (since I will be getting a new phone with more storage anyway).

    I succeeded in my Iphone recovery!... Without this software. I updated
    Itunes, Updated windows. pressed up then down quickly while pressing on
    the on/off button. Hold the on/off for a minute. Then I repressed on/off
    + volume down for 1 minute or so until support.apple link appeared. I
    opened Itunes. Did the recovery/update (did it like 10 times and I had
    to take a walk before I throw my Iphone 7 in the laptop). Maybe it was
    the timing, but 5 hours later. I redid the same steps... And It worked!

    Just got into electronic repair and soldering. Ran across your channel and am already a fan. Question, where do you get your supplies and parts? I started with repairing PlayStation controllers and finding parts is surprisingly a lot harder than I thought or maybe I should have never gone to ebay as everything on there is fake or as cheap as can be.

      Mobilesentrix is awesome for parts and some component level stuff. I order a lot of board level components from Digikey, supplies from All-spec and ICs from Aliexpress. I don’t know much about console repair though! Digi-key and All-Spec are sure to be helpful.
