It's fun seeing some pilot names I recognise that keep showing up in your matches year after year. Kind of like a supporting cast in my favourite show.
SNV-A with 4x ATM 12s, 2 Light Tags, & 2 ER Large Lasers; 2 TAGs for redundancy, 2 ER Larges for Long Range fire support, and a 144 damage missile barrage that can be spammed 3 1/2 times before Overheat if you chain fire them in 2 separate weapon groups. Alternatively, the HGN-IIC-B can run an UAC 20, 3x ATM 9s, NARC & TAG. Just some more powerful alternatives if you don’t own the Scorch.
First match is a perfect example of how nascar has ruined this game. Two dire wolves with less than 50 damage, because they were the tail of the nascar and got utterly wrecked. 200 tons thrown in the garbage because the team wanted to run in circles.
@@ghoulbuster1 It's a fallacy. been in games where they start to do it 30 seconds into the match. There's definitely a lack of understanding of the game
@@1228carlito I love running a Nascar! RIGHT INTO THE ENEMY'S TEETH! I've had matches where I told the team to do a clockwise-Nascar, and we ended up cleaning the op4, starting with all the squirrels that were leading their own Nascar. Works great, because by the time you get to their Assaults, they're standing alone in an overly target-rich environment.
@@ESCfromNome i get that. i just finished playing 20 matches to finish the event. We didn't nascar in 15 of them and won. the other 5 were nascar and losses.
Hey - exactly the build I have been running today, except on an Orion IIC-C (it's a little speedier) and I like the UAC position better, a matched firing convergence Ag5D50D1|l^|l^|2f|6S|6Sph0|fB|fB|l^qh0|TC|TCrQ0|6SsV0|l^tT0|RR|RRuT0|RR|RRv10|6Sw808080
Great build bara! Yknow id like to see you try something with the Clan AC-20. Its got good range from what the stats say. And it looks like noone runs it.
Problem with the Clan standard autocannons is that they offer zero advantage over ultras, except for generating less heat (but still more than an LBX). They aren't lighter, don't save you crit slots, and still fire in bursts instead of single shells like the Inner Sphere standard ACs do. They'd be good for a challenge build but it would strictly be a way of handicapping yourself compared to using an ultra or LBX.
I have one mech that uses it. It fires in 3 round bursts... so there is some spread if your target is moving. Less spread than an LB-X though... only reason I kept it. Tossed one on my Onion IIC for an event few weeks ago and just left it there.
I actually run more or less that exact build on the MAD-IIC-D, probably better too since that comes with ECM. You do have to worry about getting your arms shot off though.
hey baradul I have been watching this part of your channel now ( I subbed for the BattleTech/roughtech content) and I have become interested in MWO I am wondering if this is going to be worth me taking the time to install this game. I have looked at steam reviews but there conflicting as some say yes and some say it pay to win and quite boring. what do you think?
It is in no way pay to win, people that say that are just ignorant whiners. However the game is very difficult for a newbie because of a godawful interface and hidden nuances in mech building and economics that might screw a new player over. But try it out anyway. Just remember the golden rules of tactics: don't be the last and don't recieve damage without dishing out as much.
The game is still worth playing, espeacially if you're living in USA because that's where the biggest player base is located. It has a hard learning curve but it also makes so much fun and you have so many different builds you can try . there is a mech for everybody and if you want to communicate with your team for tactical teamplay this is for you . The ingame VoIP is one of the best I've ever seen in more than 15 years of online gaming . And the community is not that toxic like in most other games.... you will find many other ppl willing to help you if you have questions . Looking forward to see you on the battlefield ;)
There is no harm in giving it a go. The I would say the pay to win statements are over-inflated - there are some premium/real money mechs which are straight up better than the standard variants, but not gamebrakingly so (T-59 in World Tanks is prime example of P2W). There are consumables (bought for either C-bills or MC) that are (imo) too good because you cannot counter them (namely cool shots). At the start you will only have access to 12 trial mechs (4 from each class) but if you do the training exercises you get given a bunch of C-bills to spend. I would strongly recommend you focus on mediums or heavies (Assaults are a bit of a noob trap, they are difficult to play as you need good map knowledge and a team around you). Oh, and try to avoid boating LRMs, especially in heavier mechs - it's not engaging gameplay and a waste of team armour.
You’ve watched the videos, you have a pretty good idea of what the gameplay is...you should be able to mske your own mind up as to wether its boring or not?
ATMs... I'm getting almost as bad an opinion of those things as I have of Gauss. They premature if they even get NEAR any possible terrain feature, even trees, they'll actually steer into terrain even when supposedly locked on a target, and the level of spread they do if they actually get to a target dilutes their effectiveness by at least half. I swear they auto-select for whatever bit of the target has the most armor. Not worth using. I really think Baradul would have been much better off using straight LRMs, or SRMs.

I guess the quick draw was a little too... quick on the draw.
So glad to see a Scorch video, it's one of the three mechs I have above a 3 K/D in, love this thing.

Eyy, first CWI tags I've seen in a match in a LOOOONNG time.
I tried a similar build on my King Crab KGC-0000. Two UAC/10's and two MRM-30's. It worked fairly well. :)

@Baradul: May i suggest to sacrifice a bit of leg armor to get a light-tag in? Makes the ATMs much more efficient.
AMS eat a lot of those ATM's in both games.

Not going to spend this kind of moolah on a mech. Can this build be done with the IIC-D?
I don't think so, but you can do it on several different variants of the Mad Cat MKII.
