I can't imagine another kronii being kronii

I feel like even if it was a dif person as kronii, you specific reactions, decisions, and interaction with your viewers is what makes you unique and why i personally like you. Unless every single tiny little detail is scripted and you have to act it out 😂

Wait, so do they have the character model and backstory already set up and are just looking for people to audition for the part?

Depends on the generation. The older ones had you audition for a specific role. For Council the concepts at least were likely planned ahead of time since it's a cohesive theme between them. The character designs are best done after selecting a candidate due to simplify tracking the 3D models. In this case, I think Kronii is just talking about "the Kronii replacement" rather than talking literally.

@@timpkmn89 based on what Kiara has mentioned on stream, the character designs and concepts are basically already fleshed out and drafted by the time they find someone to voice them. They can ask for small edits or modifications, but I'm willing to bet we'd have basically the same character model even if someone else was chosen for Kronii.

With a few notable exceptions (like Suisei), yes - it is much easier and faster to cast a new gen that way. It's also how it works in the VA and anime industry.
If they had to draft a cohesive, diverse group only after selecting candidates, it would take much longer to prepare a gen: they would have to run the first rounds of auditions for 3-4 months, keep a large enough pool, figure out possible combinations internally, run another round to only keep the final 5, draft character designs, wait for their completion (2-3 months, artists are already busy), get them accepted by the talents, rig them (1 month maybe?), get the talents to test them, finally debut.
It could easily overshoot 8 months or even take more than a year: in the meantime, selected talents would have to stand still and not sign up anywhere else.
By having the characters mostly completed by the time the first auditions start, it saves up months of uncertainty for the project, and avoid having to rework the characters countless times to fit the talents preferences: the people auditioning already accepted the initial deal.
It establishes the business balance between the company and the talents: the visuals and official lore are for Cover, the personality and the shenanigans are for the talents. For example, Watame: sweet and innocent officially - kind, cool and _cultured_ in practice.
      ...
Cover also scouted a few of their talents, possibly luring them in by crafting a character that fits the talent's own preferences, personality and/or would be designed by one of their favorite illustrator. Forgot the ones in HoloJP, but for Myth I believe Goora was a little targeted (understandably, given her prior popularity), so was Ina (who naturally was hesitant at first, but was already known among JP artists).
