In case no one mentioned it, MINGI sadly wasn’t present because he was still recovery from high anxiety he was experiencing from previous previous comeback activities.
It's Dvorak's Symphony No. 9. To put things into perspective, ATEEZ was promoting Fireworks while preparing for this episode. They would arrive at regular music shows to promote around 4am, be there all day for recording, then they would eat and if possible cat nap on the way to the large studio they rented for practice, and rehearse for this performance until o'dark thirty when they would be transported to the next music show for their next day long stint. They pretty much went without sleep for 3 days to make this happen. And if you re-watch the scene before Seonghwa kills the kraken, you can clearly hear Jongho is singing live over the backing track while spinning 6-foot-one Yunho in a circle. When the scene cuts to Seonghwa he has to run to the other half of the stage (ship exterior) and climb to the top of the platform where the ships wheel is located, within a few seconds the camera is back on him for the scene with those high notes. His performance was incredible (I can only think of one other kpop vocal performance that impressed me so much.)* Symphony 9 From the Wonderland was ranked The Best Kpop Performance of 2021 by Genius Korea--it'll be a long time before anyone touches its intensity and grandeur.
BTW, the other performance was from Road to Kingdom which is the season before Kingdom. I recommend watching it before Kingdom if you haven't seen it yet. The Boyz did some fantastic performances in RTK, but the most impressive performance for me vocally was Pentagon's Shine + Spring Snow. It was Jinho's, their oldest member's, last performance before leaving for the military. The members surprised him in the middle with a short vid with a voice over of all of them saying they loved him. Everyone was sobbing and the members could barely sing from crying, but Jinho had the last half of the song and he sang perfectly, while crying and brushing tears out of his eyes until the very last note. I didn't know anyone could do that. If your friend wants to hear a more vocal centric group, Pentagon has 2 of the best vocalists in the industry. Jinho has done over 50 professional covers on his channel, Magazine Ho & his version of Gethsemane is mind blowing.
Wow. That's a ridiculous schedule to keep up with. I hope they were able to get some rest after all of that was over with!

God no wonder it was elected as #1 Best K-Pop Performances of 2021 by Genius Korea ! the whole production, the energy, the moves, the live vocals, them playing with props as if it's not of the the most difficult thing to do onstage, the plot ... ???? Truly glad ateez won that round with this performance. totally deserved
This performance never gets old. Because Kingdom was during covid, they sadly couldn't have a live audience. Small silver lining is that, as we see here, they could in turn get really fancy with the stages and the camera work.
Also, unimportant detail, but it's a competition show, not survival. No one gets eliminated, the groups just 'fight' over the ranking. I like that they did it like that, because we would have missed out on some really amazing stages if those at the bottom would have had to go home.
Remember when I saw this stage in competition against 5 group😅 so jellous about them why so good they r and why they r in this show bcoz I vote and like another group😁that time.
When they performed this they were working off about 40 hours with no sleep. They spent the 24 hours before reporting to the show preparing the choreography.
SAN’s voice is a little fried from all the singing and Jongho hits his notes but cracks at the end. Jongho hit the note fine in the behind the scenes and at every concert for their beginning of the end tour.
Seonghwa’s costume with the corset was inspired by Kiera Knightly’s costume in Pirates of the Caribbean.
This performance is amazing but I actually prefer their Rhythm Ta stage slightly more. That one blends Vivaldi’s Summer with Ikon’s Rhythm Ta.
