Yep, I did follow the fumes, making sure they drifted away from me (and aired out the room afterwards). Never smelt it, which is a good sign :) Thanks for watching!
I think firing a laser into a cows eye, obviously a dead cow, would show people the damage they do so ensure people will most definitely not look at lasers!
They idea would be to fire a laser at the eye(s) for periods of time then dissect them later to see the potential damage they could cause if someone opted to mess around or be neglectful around laser!!
Jennifer - Nobody said 'crow' and nor should you jump to conclusions either. As for cow, if that's what you mean, a cows eye is a nice big thing to cut open and put under a microscope showing people. My projectors is at least 5 times the size and doesn't have a battery. Don't know how many viewers you have in the U.S., but you also may want to mention that a variance is required in the states.
I believe a lot of modern laser projectors use a combination of dichroic mirrors and phosphors to generate RGB light from a single blue laser source. It's the closest thing I can think of to real alchemy.
The planetarium laser bench I worked with had a 10W mixed gas white laser that we could only bring to just over 6W... anymore power and a slow trace from the main beam (which is only half of the laser output) would vaporize the white paint on the inner dome !!
...now imagine having this on a bigger scale like...oooh let's say a heliostat setup! (solar power tower) Instead of collecting sunlight on the mirrors, you control the laser streams and bounced them into one focused powerful beam. This could be use for multipurpose like.. energy capture or...yes, redirecting a straight beam out to space(weaponize/asteroids etc...)
