This to me looks like an Americans idea of what French homes are like. These photos are from high end chateaux and maison maître of the wealthy. In the countryside it is simple and rustic. And many of the trees are not In the home but outside at the fro nt of the home. Rare to use lavender in december as it is not in flower at this time! Just to address one person about the religious aspect of Christmas. All the villagers help to decorate the church and we all have a “crèche “ in our church often generations old and is the center piece of the church decorations, and is always lit in soft gold light. Every village has a church, and religion is very serious here.
