You guys put the Nike swoosh in life, van life, boat life, island life, JUST DO IT!! Very inspiring, good luck with all your endeavors present and future.
If you had 4 containers you could use them as corner supports for a roof - you could then use 1 for a kitchen & dining are, 1 for a bathroom & the other 2 as bedrooms. By spacing them out you could build a shell around the outside to seal in the space & then have a large living space in the middle that is totally enclosed.
I’ve been watching you guys for 2 years, in that time I’ve lived in the same place the whole time. Meanwhile, I’ve seen you build and live in a van, then a temporary house while you build the sail boat, move to Hawaii, move to another temporary house and then a tent house and now shipping container 😲 you guys are truly inspiring! And you work so well as a team ❤
Thank you so much, Alex :) I suppose it doesn't matter if you stayed in one place or changed plans a bunch like we did, as long as you are on the path of learning, growing and kindness, that's what matters :) Hope you have a wonderful week, Alex! ❤

You guys must know about Life Uncontained - McKenzy and Spenser who have built the most awesome house and faced every challenge you now have ahead of you - I feel sure you must know that channel - but on the off chance you don’t - they will be an inspiration I’m sure!
One of the things I love about your videos is there’s always something new to learn. Even though as a 65 year old rooted to home I’ll never use the info Lou shared today about leveling the land, changing the tractor tire, falling trees, or painting the inside of the crates white, it’s still such fun to learn such a diversity of skills and in doing so increase our personal knowledge. I really appreciate you all taking the time to explain and give reasons for why you do what you do.
Wow--Anita, thank you so much for this comment, it absolutely made our day to read :) Here's to being lifelong learners :) Hope you have a wonderful week ahead, Anita!! ❤

Just caught up from when you guys were doing your winter build series on the boat to now. Amazing to finally be watching you guys building this stuff in real time now. I’ve been watching for about 2-3 years now and it’s amazing to see the journey you’ve both been on. And to see your family growing from two to four. Freya is such a good dog and Max seems adorable (I like how you’re showing him but also not showing him to keep him somewhat offscreen for his privacy). So so so excited to see this shipping container project come to life. Very jealous, but I get to live vicariously through you guys ☺️ hope you’re all doing well. Can’t wait to see what you get up to next

Awesome, glad the gravel got delivered, and the shipping containers are in place. I love it when a plan comes together! Cheering from CT about all that the two of you have accomplished,!! So very proud of you both.
We're all rooting for you!! I've seen some cool vids of people connecting their containers with glass doors--roof overhead, of course. Our Andersen window guy said he had a whole warehouse of wrong size or "changed their mind" doors and windows that if we wanted to make a greenhouse down the road, just give him a call. I thought maybe this would be an idea for y'all??
Hi Laurie Anne! Oh what a great tip!! That is really useful to keep in mind. And the idea of connecting with glass doors sounds so beautiful, too! Thanks for sharing inspiration with us!! ❤

Also insulating from the outside would avoid condensation on the metal, but trapped by the insumation. Solid natural fiber insulation like straw and clay mix is capillary enough to wick the condensation out, though. In case you go that route.

"First New York upstate winter.." Where upstate? I've had studios in the Hudson River Valley and in the Catskills - currently living in the City. Of all the places I've spent time in, upstate NY is my preferred area in the country, the most beautiful I've experienced. The calm is stunning. Great place to nurture creativity. I look forward following your upstate journey.
Red And April off grid made roof over their containers put solar & shelter for their trailer.. I've seen years ago a channel use two containers adding glass doors connected them and one side bedrooms the other laundry center kitchen living room.
Your tree felling and timbering skills are fantastic! Out of curiosity, during the tree selection process is there a protocol to check for any wildlife that would be affected by felling the tree? 😊
So happy I found your channel again. Love your little guy. I wonder why you did not connect the containers. Like if you, u it then you could connect walking in them by putting in door ways and windows. Love to see your plans with them.
It would be so cool if you added some solar panels on the top of the shipping containers and then on the sides you added a couple of windows for extra lighting and ventilation air circulation
Great video, interested to know more about your land? How big is it, where in relation to your wall tent is the containers? Keep living your dreams whatever direction it takes you.
I’m curious as to where the 3 containers are located with regards to the tent, if they can work together as indoor + sheltered spaces... also all your work on the outhouse will you need a closer one too ?
It would be a good idea considerimg the trouble your having with punctures in you tactor tires to fill them with the appropriate amount of a puncture sealant product usally avalible at most big auto parts stores and is very effective at avoiding any problem.
I wonder how you stay heated in containers in winter and how electricity gets in there. And will it be a big deal to open and close during a snow storm to get into the kitchen from the bedroom? Just curious because I know nothing about container life.
Well I was a sub back when you guys got the boat and then I got sick, ended up doing/watch nothing til the last few months, just found your new channel here and will be trying to catch up or update myself, I re-sub and plan on re-watching all the stuff I saw long time ago which I did like for the most part for sure, how is your brother, still in the show too, guess I'll get to watching, If it was me, I would build my house on top of the containers with a over hang of 4 to 6 feet, also dig a french drain around the place, add a large water catchment container or 2, Later
i feel your pain about the flattire.... What is the process for your digging the dirt...are you leveling it out to put gravel down?? thanks for tghe video.
You should put a product called "flat out" in your tracker tires. It is like fix a flat but better it has fibers that sells big slashes in equipment tires.
As soon as you cut holes in the sides of those containers, their structure will weaken substantially. The more holes and the bigger the holes, the weaker they'll become. They were engineered to have solid sides. I guess you're outside any authority to enforce building codes, so good luck with safety. And good luck insulating those for the winter. Remember snow can get pretty heavy.
Surely you can’t live with a baby in an uninsulated unventilated metal box?? How will you heat it and install power, plumbing etc? In the winter will you go from one container to another? I’m sure you’ve thought of all that and are just teasing us / can’t wait to find out! 😅 😝👏
I’m super curious to see how the layout turns out, since they aren’t next to each other and how that’ll change etc. what’s also nice is the idea u could add a fourth or fifth or something if u ever needed too or second story or something. It’s like legos hahaha

Don't assume used containers are watertight. Start by carefully screenings any rust areas or joints.
