Middle-income families struggle as living costs outpace dropping prices

Primerica defines middle income as $30,000-$100,000 per year. The survey shows that 48% of middle-income households are cutting costs or pausing savings.

I typically WFH, but occasionally have to go in to the office. Last week, went into the office and figured I'd treat myself to a delivery lunch from a sushi place I used to order from a lot before the pandemic. Ordered a sushi roll, two pieces of ahi nigiri, and a side of tempura. That came to over $40 by itself, or about double what it would've been before the pandemic. Add the Doordash fees, taxes, and tip, and my lunch would've been over $60. I canceled the whole thing when I saw what the total would be. Ended up getting a protein bar out of the work vending machine. This is why people are not dining out. We're getting half the service and food for double the price. My _income_ didn't double since 2020 and I'm not buying that the cost of _everything else_ did.
