Thanks for the playthrough and review, Tia! I always enjoy your videos that highlight a lesser known game. The aesthetic and theming really is amazing, and the puzzle looks satisfying, so I'm putting this on my to-get list. I wish I could offer up some hidden gem games, but I'm fairly sure that any I have are ones you've mentioned in your other videos 😆.
thanks for an excellent review (as allways), I have this fantastic game in my collection and I love everything about it, story/art work/game play etc. -one of my absolute favourite games
Okay, The Brambles is officially now on my to-buy list. I think for my suggestion, maybe "The Draugr," a microgame from the BGG Store, designed by Todd Sanders who also designed Mr. Cabbagehead and Maiden in the Forest. You play as a hunter that is defeating the Draugr, and the map is comprised of the 18 cards that make up the 3x6 map. The aesthetic is moody black and white, similar to the Brambles. Component-wise, it might not be the best, and the packaging is in a paper envelope, but the game is an interesting resource-gathering game with an interesting "corrupt" mechanic that gradually whittles down your map throughout the game. So, it's a balance of clearing corruption and defeating the Draugrs. Defeat 4/6 of them to win. Also, it's Todd Sanders, so I may be biased towards his games. :)
Ahh yes! Absolutely LOVE the aesthetic & vibe of "The Draugr". I found it to be a bit long on first plays, which isn't too bad; except then I always default to playing "The Maiden in the Forest" instead when I need a quick fix... 😅
My copy of Brambles LITERALLY arrived yesterday after I got it when you recommended it in one of your other vids.... NOW you do a Solo party of this game today?????? And I was searching yesterday to see if you did a playthrough of this too! I'm scared... Haha!!!!!
Thinking about getting it, but probably will get the expansion to Gate, with the new playmat. Also getting Kaiju Siege. The Brambles just probably won't complete with Under Falling Skies, Warp's Edge, Unbroken, Gate, Doom Machine etc., since I prefer to have a few games I cycle through rather than playing quickly and setting up new ones. I like Horror, but I might as well play Ghost Stories solo instead of Brambles, which barely treads water thematically for me. As for recommendation: try Adventure Tin (although, personally, Adventure of D fills the overland adventure niche).
Outstanding playthrough which convinced me to get this excellent game. Two mistakes I * think * I noticed - 1) at 9:12 when the two curse cards cause a bramble card to return to the pile, it should have been just the Monster modifier card since it was the last card defeated and Monster cards may be the card returned from the defeat pile and 2) at 9:30 when you used the couplet to defeat the curse card you should have defeated ALL the curse cards at once instead of leaving the one remaining curse card. Thanks for the awesome video! You also convinced me to get Doom Machine with your playthrough of that! 😏
Thanks Dan! You're definitely right about removing both bramble curse cards @ 9:30. I unfortunately don't have my copy on me to verify the rules for the expansions with returning monsters vs brambles cards, but I can definitely verify that that once I'm back home! 😊
Great playthrough. I’m glad you used the “Masques and Monsters” expansions as I have been avoiding it. Looks pretty straight forward. I didn’t realize you could “sacrifice” single cards. One of these days I’ll have to read a manual. I realize this isn’t a solo game, but it would be cool to see a play through on “Rajas of the Ganges”.
Great review and playthrough. I also find the "renaissance" style art similar to the old tarot cards alluring and just plain cool. I wonder if Burton has a source list of each card's art, showing the subject in its original painting.
This looks such a good solo game. Unfortunately, It's not available over here. Contacted them directly but the shipping is unbelievable at the moment to the UK. I thought about P&P but the amount of ink I'd need would cost more than the shipping 😀. I've just printed off Ragemore instead. Thanks for the play through...
For solo recommendations that remind of this: Art wise, Ragemore, which you have, or games from the Oniverse Series. I guess the fire (red) Oniverse game may be the most similar, but I haven't played that one. Onirim is pretty great as an app, then I gravitate towards Nautillion and Aerion. There's also a yellow one. (Can you tell which I haven't played. Ha) Also, you MAY enjoy the Grey Gnome Games: Gate and/or Tin Helm.
Yesyes! Love the Oniverse series & can't wait for the new release! 🥰 Love the look of Gate & actually just acquired Tin Helm & Iron Helm… can't wait to give them a go! Jason Glover is so talented. 🙇🏻♀️
@@tabletoptokki There's a new one coming? Nice! Awesome, I'll wait to see if any end up on your disappointing games list... 😬 J/K, I think at least one can win you over. 😁 By the way, he's also working on a new game as well.
Always an interesting video, and I never thought I'd hear you say "Oh no!" so many times in a row with no dice to be seen....
Luck of the draw is a thing as well… 😅
Thanks for the tutorial !!! Got this game a few days ago.
Ahh, congrats on the new addition! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have 😁
I LOVE this game! So glad you are featuring it!!
Yes! So good, right?! 🥰
Oh yay, another great solo card game! An another gripping playthrough, thanks!
Yes!!! It was a close one! 😁
I know this is an older video but this one is now on my list. Also I just picked up Skoventyr I really like the solo play for it a lot.
Eyy awesome! I've only gotten to try Skoventyr at 2, but I definitely think I'd enjoy it more solo 😊
Alluring is a good description. I recently obtained this- have yet to win - but it's a good one.
"X time's the charm!" 😁

Yes, so good!!! I love how simple the mechanisms are but how unique the experience is. 🥰

Thanks for recommending The Draugr. I never heard of it. Just checked it out and ordered it from the BGG store. Looks good!
And thank you all for enjoying my games :) (Todd Sanders here)
Thanks for the playthrough!
Ofc! 😊

I've had this on my wishlist for a while. FIIINE - I ordered it 🤣 I think my favorite "unique aesthetic" game is Dungeon Degenerates 🙂
Whoaaaa looks dope! Marked for further research after work! 😁
Wow! I have never heard of this game till now! Awesome play through I’ll definitely have to look into this one 😄
Yesyes! Hope you get to play it sometime! 😊

Ughhhh love Rajas! If someone ever makes/finds a solo variant I'm so down!!!

I believe that in the back of the rulebook there was a list of what sources he pulled artwork from. :)
its got a creepy gothic vibe..im picking this up for a halloween game!
Perfect Halloween game; great idea! 😁

Ahhh yes... unfortunate, but hopefully someday it'll have a wider distribution! Have you peeked to see if there's a low-ink print for it? 😬
