I purchased the same minipc, I can tell you that I solved the problems you encountered by changing the settings on retroarch, using the native frequency of the monitor and using directx 12. Other emulators, such as mame and dreamcast work well at the moment I haven't tried anything else. HI.
Yeah, using some brains would address his concerns on performance. He could have tried Linux as well.
I was about to say. This sounds like a settings issue. Not hardware... these aren't meant to run full ps5 games. If you're smart, a tiny emulator and a few roms will run FLAWLESSLY. But plug and play clowns know nothing more than someone selling out.... It sounds like a RTFM type deal.
I keep talking myself out of buying this. I keep imagining putting Batocera on it and velcroing it to my bathroom wall with one of those tiny 8bitdo controllers sitting on top of it but it doesn't take me that long to drop a deuce. Lol.
lmao wait until you get a little older. You can skip the Metamucil and just get a mini pc to occupy the extra time.

There's more than one thing that's affecting it's performance. The SSD is heating up and being on the motherboard will increase the temperature, with inadequate cooling. The CPU isn't running very fast and that's why you're waiting around for UA-cam to initialise. Maybe by going into the UEFI and increasing the graphics memory will help it a bit. If you can increase the fan speed and don't have it on dynamic could help.

I love devices like this; I've had a thing for the Ockel Sirius A for years. The problem with PCs like this is the Intel processor: they simply run too hot. This device with an ARM processor would be more successful.
I was cruising eBay for mini PCs and this came up a few times. As you say, looks great, but it's too expensive for what it does. It's basically a chromebook with enough ports to make them blush, but at the end of the day, a celeron isn't going to get too many demanding tasks done.
I own a few celeron computers, one I put back to windows 8.1, and the other is a chromebook. I use both for media consumption and not too much else.
Don’t buy it…..But it’s only $239 today on Amazon for the version with 16gb 256gb. So I couldn’t help myself 😅. Just realized I received the GOLE 2 pro, I guess they updated it.

Yeah, generally I stick with the top of the line brands so the reviews are generally good but I ventured off the grid with this one.

You should buy the new Higole F9B7. The n100 is twice as powerful as the n5095 on most benchmarks.
Every day that a dollar or more is saved by the godlike acts of Retro Gaming Guy is a good day.
Just one of his old videos is saving me hundreds to possibly, probably/inevitably, thousands of dollars!

Is The Performance Worse Than A Stand Alone Mini PC With a J4125? That's What I Have And It Does What I Need It To Do. I've Got A Really Odd Mobile PC Set Up With A Mini ATV Battery, A 7" Field Monitor And A Bunch Cables. The Mini PC Was About $130, ATV Battery $90 And Field Monitor $100. So I'm At The Same Price As This PC But Way More Compact And Localized. I Use It Inside Cars And Window Mount Them For Car Tuning And Diagnostics.
Where I see it's usefulness is with Kali Linux and protocol testing for network admins and engineers.
🙏🤔 OMG, I almost bought this on Amazon, fortunately I chose the orange Pi zero 3 4gb ram version and a 7inches touchscreen ips monitor (way way better for retro gaming or other projects) ... Now I know this is a total failure. thanks

I'm surprised by the bad performance on those 8-bit and 16-bit emulators. I have a mini PC for emulation that uses a older Celeron and it never was this bad, plays up to Dreamcast (Redream) well. Did you use the same PC to record the live stream footage?

For anyone watching this is the future and is planning to buy this specifically for a emulation box, I can assure you this is more than adequate for such a task. The issues here in this video have nothing to do with the PC and everything to do with settings in the emulation software. This is a quad core from 2021. You're telling me it can't run SNES games in an emulator? Come on. This device should be more than adequate for emulation, basic web browsing, etc. I've seen a guy playing Resident Evil 5 on it at almost playable frame rates. There's 0 chance this can't emulate 40 year old consoles if you fix your settings lol.
Yes I agree that's a waste for $300+ you can build something way better in a small/micro form factor.
Hey just watched a bunch of your videos. I have the original kinhank. X3 console. All I like to do is play snes jrpg games but the graphics Arnt as clean as the real snes. Do you know a better emulator that has cleaner snes graphics?
Looking forward to this one.. design looks great but heard that it overheats and underpowered. I wonder if the new version they recently came up with solves those issues.

I had to reinstall win11 using my disk (problem I don't have any drive) I ask: can you send me all the drives, or do you have a disk (file) to send me for a complete PC restore? mine and a HEIGAOLAPC 2 PRO ( aquistato amazon) grazie

I'm very surprised by the results of your testing. That CPU is more than capable of handing syatems up to PS1. I think the CPU is throttling due to the poor/non-existent cooling system, which intern affects the RAM performance. I felt like sending you a mini-drill to make vent holes for the heat.
Yeah I would have dove in further to this actually but I didn't want to ruin my chances of a return.
I wish I had seen this before I bought it! After hours of doing a factory reset, I sent mine back for a refund!

You lost me at Celeron CPU
I've had a rule for myself to stay away from celeron but I made an exception this one time due to the screen. I should have stuck to the plan haha.
@@RetroGamingGuy Mate, I like your channel but putting a cool screen on a Celeron CPU based system is like putting 20k rims on a POS Kia.
I think a N100 version would be OK. I have the J4125 version, its not great.
I've used N100 elsewhere and it was ok.

I'd sent it back and get your money back as its not fit for purpose.
