The opening of Hyouka is so well done. Still sticks with even after all these years. It’s a complete story and the characters are fantastic, would have wished for a continued series but it just makes this so much more special
I just finished up my first viewing of Hyouka and I was completely blown away. Not only are the visuals gorgeous to look at but the characters are entertaining and compelling to watch. Chitanda is definitely best girl material. Looks like I'm on a Kypto animation run as I previously watched Beyond the Boundary right before Hyouka. Perhaps a little Violet Evergarden is next up, followed by some Haruhi Suzumiya and K-ON. Once I finish a series I tend to see what is on UA-cam for that show so I will definitely be checking out all your other videos once I'm done.
Your anime videos have been extremely impressive. Your scripts are phenomenal and well written. The editing contributes to the overall video by being interesting and entertaining, and adding to your spoken message. The final product is full of passion and detail. Take as long as you need to find content you want to write about, and write scripts that you are satisfied with. With high quality content like this, your audience will find you. Thank you for the videos, and (I can't remember the last time I said this) thank you based UA-cam algorithm for leading me here.
Slice of life is always my favorite genre of anime, its so light, I am able to calm down from the hectic life I am living though. Hyouka is one of those anime that makes me feel calm
Beautiful video, you explained and analyzed the show and it's characters phenomenally! Hyouka is one of my favorite animes and I'm really glad you loved it as well.
What a beautiful work you've done. Truly compliments Hyouka in the best of ways, I enjoyed every second of those 36minutes and 4 seconds, this video is undoubtedly a new favorite of mine
watched hyouka a few years ago when i was a freshman in highschool as well. missed many details and forgot more. this video essay analysis was perfect and exactly what i needed 2 reconcile with my memory of this beautiful artwork of an anime. good job
I don't know if you've watched this, and i should be commenting this on one of your Sound Euphonium videos (I'm yet to watch them) but check out Hanasaku Iroha. It's by P.A. Works. And it revoles around working in an Inn. What made me recommend this was that you said Hyouka was about normal people. And this is exactly what i feel towards Hanasaku Iroha. The main character, Ohana, will remind you so much of Kumiko. She says (instead of blurting like Kumiko) whatever's in her mind. It just feels like I'm actually listening to a person speak rather than a well thought out dialogue from a movie (which it actually is). And it's such a normal story with normal people working at an Inn. Nothing extraordinary happens. There's no over the board drama. It's just shown as it is. It's so natural and organic. And there's a movie too which just enhances the entire show so much. It manages to focus not on one but on so many (almost all) of the characters in 1 hour. And it does so so gracefully. I know you will love that show. Please give it a try. And thank you so much for this video on Hyouka. I recently rewatched it for nth time so though why not watch this video too. And you did an amazing job making us understand all four characters.
Your video helped me clearly see the subtext and themes of this show. It is written as complicated as the literature that inspires it, you really have to pay attention and think a little. Also lmao at chitanda being voiced by ritsu's voice actress The second end with the Sherlock Holmes imagery was 10/10 I never skipped it once Def one of the best anime out there for those that appreciate layered writing inspired by classic literature and ofc it has arguably the best style in terms of directing color shot framing animation etc. It's on par with disappearance imo ( on a technical level
This is genuinely such a well done video. The visuals and commentary are very engaging and your analysis of the show is spot on. Very surprising to me that you haven't experienced a lot of growth, because this type of content is very enjoyable to watch :D.
Hey mister!!!! I noticed Bethovens Moonlight Sonata in the background.... did you think it could elude me?... classic...classics never dies... Oh yes......ICE CREAM, one of the most underrated anime on the internet... a story about life, mysteries and confused teens with some romance and absolutely lovable characters.
I'm still annoyed at myself for dropping it the first time after 4 or 5 episodes, only to come back a few months ago and have it be one of my favourite shows. I really hope Kyoto animation decides to make a second season for the show, as there are still 3 novels that aren't covered in the anime. Also, I hope a publisher decides to release the novels in English at some point.
The festival arc is best for me, The message about expection and reality is just hit like a truck, and it really age well. Especially it reflect the state that happened to the original novel now, its really ironic. Yonezawa himself is now doing what kogayama is doing, like wtf man..he could resolve this story in like 2 to 3 years with at least two more books, but for whatever reason he choose not to touch it again..
@@Totaraum tbh idk like most intros that happen during the second half of an anime. Whenever an anime changes its opening, I almost always wish they would just go back to the first one like with Your Lie in April, Death Note, Toradora and many others that I can't be bothered naming

2012 btw, Hyouka I'd argue has better animation than a lot of modern anime

Glad you're enjoying all of KyoAni's work. You should try Violet Evergarden or A Silent Voice. I also really need to watch Hyouka.
