Do you think Makeine takes place in the After Colony timeline or the Universal Century timeline? (Good video Allen, loved the ED discussion, would've been down just for 10 minutes of that)
Something that you only lightly glossed over that should really be emphasized was the AMAZING VA work by everyone involved. Seriously Yanami's VA alone is one of the most expressive VA's I've heard in recent YEARS. Her inflections and over exaggerations really make the scenes she's in so much more punchy and impactful. (Also dammit writers! I wanna know what happened in the dang Ferris Wheel!! Don't cut away and leave it ambiguous!!! Rawr! Lol! )
FORREAL! Yea that was one of the points while editing that I was kicking myself for not including (lol). Hikaru Toono's voice work dances off the script with such finesse, made even more impressive by the fact that this is her first breakout role (I think...?). Seriously amazing stuff. And that damn Ferris Wheel scene! Guess we'll only know when season 2 drops :)
Loved this show, becuase to me it's the flip side of Madiens of a Savage Season. Both are about real (or as real as they can get) teens ad their ventures into dating and the relationship world. But where Madiens has the main girls get the good ending (neglecting the one in love with her teacher, but she at least gets a positive and adult response) but still having to work through what that means, Makeine has the messy bad side and cranks it up to "11" so to say. But the characters are adult enough in their young lives to understand that "this is just what happens sometimes, and I have to live, learn, and move on" and all 3 of our losing heroines confront their own feelings and actually get closure from their crushes that, they at least know and the love itself is no longer unrequited. Its not resipricated, but its know and accepted at face value and dealt with in a healthy and kind manner.
The author is a fan of "Griffith did nothing wrong": Lemon being a tan tomboy with black hair and her love interest a smart guy with light blue hair is diabolical...
I can see 3 endings to it it’s rather all the girls get a happy ending while nukumizu ends up with no one as he doesn’t believe in high school relationships or nukumizu ends up dating one of the girls.

I have only seen G-Witch, I have absolutely no idea.
(you overestimate my talents)
Probably Anno Domini or Cosmic Era

Totally agree! It's exactly in the fine line between all the "level 11 chaos" and its moments of sincerity, that had me absolutely floored!

It's definitely in the running for the best and most unhinged anime of the year.
