YES!!! this is by far my favorite concerto ever written, and respighi is among my absolute favorites. I always listened to this while playing breath of the wild, because I felt it fit very well. Brings back a lot of good memories :)
this was the first respighi piece i heard oh so many years ago, followed by his transcriptions of the rachmaninoff etudes-tableaux can't imagine a better way to be introduced to a composer
Each of us learns to recognize what we see and consequently then sees what we recognize. So don't look yourself in the mirror while you're listening to music. 😂
I think this is the first time I've heard Renault Capucon fail or mess up notes! But the delivery is still powerful, and the orchestra does quite a great job of presenting the piece and the unique style of resphigi. Overall, good job!
I listened to the third movement as a litmus test. When the music was slow and sweet, Capuçon had some really imaginative phrasing and portamenti that I quite liked. However, I heard a _lot_ of botched notes, especially in the fast sections; I was also annoyed by his habit of often playing a harmonic when a phrase ended on a high note (they're easier to play, but for me kill the momentum of the music). I would recommend Andrea Cappelletti's version as an alternative.
I totally agree with you I also think this concerto is not like Tchaikovsky or Brahms concerto because Respighi was not looking for virtuosity with this work but a dialogue between the violin and the choir (orchestra) Unfortunately this concert is very underrated so I hope it becomes more and more recorded among violinists.
I've listened to classical music for 70 years. Have never heard nor heard OF this work. Tragic neglect of a fine piece of music.
I'm so glad that I clicked on this when it ended up in my recommended

I love this piece...
My favourite violin Concerto ! Thanks a lot!
Incredible orchestral writing by Respighi with a very catchy theme in the 3rd movement. It's a shame this isn't played more

Es ist ein absolutes Meisterwerk ! 💗
Ja, super!
The amount of work you do is just wonderful! thank you!!
Molto interessante, molto bello. Molti passaggi del primo tempo rieccheggiano nella successiva (di 20 anni) 5° sinfonia di Vaughan Williams
Wow.....full orchestral score for my most favourite violin concerto ever?!
this is some of the most beautiful shit I've ever heard
Well, very delicately put.
