Every keeper looks perfect on comps, he was really not great, but I loved him so much
He didn't impress me much but for his way of waiting the forward coming closer and closer. There I found his behavior really high quality. Standing on his feet till the last moment and with immediate response in a fraction of a second. And also the positions he keeps to close as much as possible of the door in these situations with both upper and lower part of the body.
The 2nd clip...love goalkeepers who stay on their feet like that must have been great seeing that
I think one of the main reasons he used the volleyball technique is so that he can control the spilled shots much better then by diving. by doing those "controlled" clearances he can anticipate where the next shot happens if a rebound happened and a striker managed to latch on the ball, though by using this technique the chances of a dangerous rebound shot happening is much lower since he already controlled the loose ball and remove it to an area which is relatively safe. A unique technique, but quite smart and very effective.

As a keeper it can be very difficult to deal with shots that are within your body but to hard to catch. The main challenge is how hard it is to get a hard controlled parry on these balls, so I think you’re absolutely right. This technique solves that problem nicely
For the same reason this technique is used in... volleyball :)

I remember him well, he was the complete opposite of Lionel Letizi in terms of goalkeeping style, the latter used more his positioning and had better aerial abilities, more consistent maybe, but far less impressive and acrobatic with his saves

Par contre son influence vient du handball. Il a été gardien de hand plus jeune. Donc je sais pas si par volleyball technique tu voulais dire ça ou si c'est autre chose.
Non les receveurs de volley font très souvent un mouvement similaire pour lever le ballon pour les passeurs. Au hand, aucun arrêt se fait de cette manière
