Another way to combine is to take one of your locs and stick it in the root of the other and loc it that way, this will prevent the loc from splitting or having a gap where you are twisting it together, and it will combined at the root...I hope this makes sense. Lol
Yes, that makes sense! I’ll probably give that a try for the ones that may not take right away. Thank you 😄
Thank you
She ran across the street to get the clips on live. Lol. Good luck in your journey
I combined my locs by sticking a loc inside the other loc. I two strand twisted down on some and sewed others together. I just recently combed out the two headed dragons and two strand twisted them like a starter locs. I went form 93 locs to 65.
I originally started with 67 locs. I have really fine hair and love the look of thick locs as well 🥰 I now have 39 locs. Combined half of my head. Loveeeee it!!! I did the crochet method
@Kikilocd I started with like 60. I combined so many I lost count. I think I have like 52 now. I’m gonna count them again soon.
@@GreedyBedies Nice!!! 🤗
Same i started with about 50 locs, I probably have about 44 locs round about now. Love them 👌🏾👍🏾👊🏾
You can also use a crochet needle to merge them immediately from root to tip. Just an idea. But I loved this. There’s no right or wrong way. Every journey is unique.
I’ve heard! I’m not sure if I’ll do that, but we’ll see! I may change my mind 😁
That's not healthy for you
Shouldn't crochet the root either two strand twist the root and crochet the rest or stick the loc through the other root and crochet about an inch down
I combined mine. Two strand twist, but I opened the root of one,& put the other through it. I then 2 strand twisted them and then threaded them together and hand rolled them and I’m very pleased. When I let them hang down, they look very nice. Good luck with yours!
With thread and needle at the tip?
What kind of thread did you use
I’ve started combining my hairline as well. Made me feel so much better.
I started with 74 locs and due to my the roots thinning & combining about 12 now so now I have around 68 by inserting one loc into the other at the root and two-strand twisting and putting a rubber band on the ends and have 6 two headed dragons which I don’t mind❤️☮️& blessings
If I need to combine a loc the fastest way I did it was to open the hair at the root then slip the other loc through it then twist. It locs fast.
I actually ended up doing this after I filmed this! It does loc so much faster
Hey there. I purposely made my locs on the thicker side when I was starting them because I didn't want to go through this process. It just seemed so much harder. I have 52 locs. The ones on the perimeter are thinner like yours but for the most part my locs are on the thicker side. I'm about to be 4 months in on Sunday and I like the way they are progressing. Good luck with thos new journey and I'll stay tuned.
I love that! Thick locs are beautiful ✨
I'm literally combining mine right now lol I love this for us!
I love that! ✨
A friend of mine has had sisterlocs for 18 months now. Sisterlocks are high maintenance locs to me. They are expensive to install and maintain. They have to retightened (reties as the call it) somewhere about every 6 to 8 weeks routinely.
I think thick locs look healthier too. Yours are going to turn out great!
Thank you! ✨
Thank you for verifying my experimental phase lol This is my third seed of loss in 15 years and I kinda am feeling the thicker/freeform/wick styles now…. I have thin hair so we’ll see how the braiding three method goes.
Your locs are beautiful girl. I've been thinking about combining my front locs as well by the crochet method.
Thank you!
I combined several so I lost count. Lol! I used the sew together method and they are coming together nicely. I feel you about being I the experimental stage too. 👍🏾Your locs are beautiful ✨✨✨
Haha, I love it! And thank you ☺️
Your locs will look fabulous! You can also twist the remain locs down and rubber band them at the ends so you don’t have the two locs combined ends just hanging out there lol😊
Thank you! I ended up twisting them down and rubber banding they to keep them together. Can’t wait for them to grow more!
This is a great suggestion. I have multiple locs that are combined with 2-5 per loc and it feels weird
I combined my locs trying to get them thicker too. I pray it comes out ok as well lol
I merged them at the root then crocheted them together. Some I double twist lol so I got a medley going on.. 🤣
I'm 18 months in my loc journey. I have combine like you did on several locs that had a thin base and I have allowed some to combine on their own that needed a thicker base too. Good decision.
Sisterlocks aren't a low maintenance/ free form thing at al. They HAVE to be re-tightened on a regular schedule, especially within the first year. I hate when I have to combine a loc because it isn't strong enough. I have super small/small locs and I prefer that look on myself. Larger locs look good on you though and I follow a few people who have beautiful larger locs and they pull it off so well. I'm just not one of those people.
Thanks for the info!
I used the same method. I love the sister locs. Had 2 coworkers with them. But I knew going into my journey, sister locs were not for me. #tooexpensive
Right, I have heard it’s expensive to maintain! They really are gorgeous though
I haven’t but my hairdressers have they combined my locs I feel when they don’t want take the time to do all of them
Really interested to see how your combined locs have progressed. Any updates? I’m considering changing the size of my own locs (I’m 7 months in), but I don’t know if it’s better to combine them or comb them out and start over with bigger parts. What do you suggest based on your experience?
Hey! I'll be providing an update on my locs and combined locs soon! If you feel like combing them out will be easy since you're 7 months along, I think that could be a good option! Keep in mind that the new loc may not be as long as the other ones when you do this, though. I think combining mine at the stage I'm in was best for me! Hope this helps 😊
@@JaninePatrice thanks, definitely helpful. I’ve combined a few already, so we’ll see how it goes. Looking forward to seeing your new content.
Watching this while combining my own locks
I combined my edges bc I didn’t want them to be thinning lol
Rolling 😂😂 just walkin round lookin surprised all day cause it's pulling hard. What's wrong you ok🙁?, Yea I'm good why you ask? 😲😲😲
I combined only a few!! But I twisted them two strand twist them together then used a crochet needle to catalyze the process
2 months in again, after cutting. But forget that. U are so beautiful. Love from Jamaica🇯🇲
Your locs are beautiful by the way. It’s not combined all the way? Does it just combine on its own?
It’s going to look dope when the loc up 👏
I think so, too! I can’t wait 😁
Beautiful 🤩
Thank you!
This is how i want to combine my locs. I am over using the loc needles etc.
Do you have a after video of how your locs looked after you combined them?
💕💕 you’re so pretty
Thank you! 😊
Your locs are beautiful will you use a crochette hook to combine the rest after they start to mesh together.? I'm on my third try week 2.
Thank you! I don’t think I will, but I’ll definitely give an update if my mind changes later
I think the thicker locs will look great. I'm in week 1 of my journey so am genuinely asking- how will the ends merge too? x
Thanks! And as far as the ends go, they won’t merge together. The combined part of the loc will get longer and it will appear split for a bit until it gets to a length where I can cut off the split parts and be left with the thicker loc. I hope that makes sense!
Sometimes people use the crochet method to combine the ends... its a long process but it can b dun without having to two strand twist them or just leave them
@@JaninePatrice ah I see!!! Thanks for responding as I've started my locs smaller Vs larger to give me the option of combining them if need be!! Xx
@@beeut1 good to know! Thanks
What kind of plant in the background? I’m a plant freak😂 locs are beautiful 😍
Sisterlocs are usually interlocked because they're so small... Some people have 450 locs. Imagine retwisting all that 😭😭
Love them thick ones
Can’t wait to see how yours turn out! I recently combined a few of mine using the two strand twist/rubber band method. They’re coming together nicely.
I can’t wait either! I actually ended up having to two strand twist and rubber band as well to keep the roots together and it’s working well! I’m glad yours are coming together nicely 😊
My locs are about the same size as yours and I want them to be Fuller around the perimeter it's thinning as well I don't know why that is but it's annoying
❤ love it
🔥🔥🔥I love ur hair
1 week loc'd for me with two stand twist. I have fine yet thick and curly hair. I got medium parts. I wanted a thicker loc. As thick as my fine hair will give me anyways. 😁
Exciting! Welcome to the loc fam ☺️
I would like to see a update
Will do! 😄
What part of St. Louis are you in? I feel like I’ve seen you before
The thicker the loc the stronger the lox period..... choose wisely if you want locs, because you can find hundreds of videos like this
They look really good. This is my plan to combine my locs. I love the thicker look too. My loctician charges $800 for exactly what you just did to your locs lol 🤦🏽♀️
800 holy shit lmao
@@vuks-fj7fl lol man locs are expensive. these locticians are greedy
what about the ends of you hair
I’ve had to combine several of my locs as well. I use the two strand twist and rubber band method. Can’t wait to see how yours progress!
I ended up using that method too on the one that were harder to combine! Thanks for watching ☺️✨
Are you doing them all and if you don't mind me asking how many do you have ?
I’m just starting with the perimeter for now! I think there may be a few more I might do, but I don’t plan on doing all of them. I started with 85 locs!
Okok I have 95 and my locs are really thick how often do you retwist
I usually retwist every 4 to 6 weeks
They look good like they are
I'm thinking of combining I need my edges done
What plant is that in the background???
It's called a white bird of paradise!
I think im going to combine mine too but im going to a loctician on delmar so i feel like she's going to try to talk me out of it. But im only like 7 weeks in so the earlier the better
I really hope she doesn’t talk you out of it! Lol I def agree - the earlier the better when you’re making loc changes
Do they do kids hair ? Can’t find anybody that wants to retwist kids hair I live in the city
@@livinglifekenisha73 I can ask 🙂🙂
@@livinglifekenisha73 do you have Instagram? I can message you her number, she does children locs
@@livinglifekenisha73 ok I sent it ☺️☺️
