Fuck man I miss it more than anything in the world. Probably the only true passion I’ll have throughout my life and it makes me sad to know those days are over.
Studying videos like these to see who the men among boys are, so I know how to use it when we get pads. Guy at 1:45 won because he hit the opponent lower, exploded his hips and body off the first hit to throw him back, delivered another hit to the chest to stun him, then locked up with his arms fully extended to drive him out. Excellent strategy.
Wish I could train in Texas for football, I've noticed many succesful players or teams be from Texas and the fact that the sport is loved very much there. Gotta love it man (Also I know other states have great training programs but Texas just feels right)
because in texas you play and practice in the heat is relentless from the sun sometimes there is no grass your body hit that hard ass dirt you don't feel nothing so hitting another man flesh its like a sledgehammer smashing a water balloon
This drill isn’t as much about strength as it is technique. Man took a L because 1) he didn’t stay low, and 2) he stopped driving his feet. 38 stood him straight up and made him fall in his ass
I don’t know, not all big players are good. For example, there was a guy on my 8th grade team who’s 6.1 or 6.2 and 220 pounds but was complete shit at football. Then you have very good players, who could do that to anyone. Either bad matchup or great player
@@Tracer-cw6sv facts bro this year in 8th grade we played a kid that was 6’3 (which was not to abnormal because of holdbacks, georgia football for you) and i kid you not 350lbs. and he was the worst person on the field and he played line and gave up the game winning sack and allowed like 3 sacks/ tfl
I fucking love "Bull in the Ring". This is where any anger, rage, pain or fear is faced like a warrior. You hit anything that moves, if the ref is in the way, hit him. This is healthy aggression and a good channel for it.
we used to do the same kinda drill called sumo everyone stood around in a circle and if u could go around the hole ring of the team ur king of sumo lol
we is something called tackling circle. its when all the players are in a circle, ones running the ball around the circle and ones in the middle. when the coach says go the guy in the middle picks a hole and tackles the runner
Two a days, linebacker drills, bull in the ring, Oklahoma drills, frisky lamb, tip drills, running hills, hitting the sled, one on one, two on one, three on one with a back……..hated it while I was doing it, but am soooo glad I did it……oh yeah I almost forgot……the cheerleaders!!!!!!
In the 90’s this was about 2-3 yards apart. And it settled so many beefs and teammate turmoil. Word would spread or a coach would be notified and your # was called. Settle it HERE.
Back in my day 1970's we would be on our back helmet to helmet and then the whistle and your had to get up and tackle the other guy with the ball .. a lot of fun..
When I played in Junior HighSchool football in 1969 we had a ring drill but it was different. One player would be in the middle of a ring of players. The coach would call out numbers and that player would go and hit the guy in the middle. It was kind of used more often as punishment for screw ups. At the end when you were shot the coach would yell, “70-78. Thats 9 guys coming from all directions. Hated that thing.
I played rugby for eight years actually, seeing as I'm from the UK. Learned the game pretty well. Both sports require different types of strength and fitness. Yes, rugby is constant, requires more dynamic strength and I would probably say overall fitness is be more important. That said, the forces involved in rugby hits are lower but they happen more frequently. American football is more explosive and the forces generated would injure every player that takes the field if the pads weren't there
@Ethan Johnson I'm currently reminiscing over my Highschool season for football and I watched this video and seeing this comment makes me realize how many fucking pussies there are, it's football, there's going to be helmet to helmet no matter what, it's apart of the sport.

I've used spray paint to make several rings. This way I can have more than one pair squaring off and less standing around, although this vid was spring practice and maybe a competition was at hand.
We ran similar to this drill but you had to get back in the ring and shake hands when it was over.....otherwise it builds animosity between teammates.......
Before I started the season, I thought this kind of drill would be the worst part of practice. Now, it’s the highlight of my day.

Brad Harrell well sometimes coaches don’t do it because something called a lawsuit
