Here from New York USA, I 1st heard Lisa Hannigan back when I saw the vid. for “Volcano” by Damien Rice & thought I saw her playing the Cello & was instantly more mesmerized by her than anything he was doing....most especially when the song “Cold Water” was introduced into the film ‘The Girl in the Cafe’ w/Kelly McDonald & Bill Nighy. There were a bunch of films/TV shows that introduced their music. I know the music was listed as his, being that it came from his album (which I never had), but I was somewhat miffed & disappointed that I never saw the credit for her & that every song I heard @that time her voice was always 2nd. Again I understand it was his album(s). But then a wonderful thing started happening in which I heard her solo angelic voice w/her own musicians. &I picked up her 3mainstream US albums & was not surprised that she was put 2nd B4 b/c she WAS the talent. In the US women are always struggling in the business & each generation there are a handful of women that open the door for others. Here I connected most w/Tori Amos b/c I'm a pianist as well & in those early days it led to Sarah McLachlan & others doing the Lilith Fair project, all of it 2get more female talent in mainstream music. I love that I found Ms. Hannigan, but I hate this slippery slope of talentless cr*p stamped out there, despite the internet, while talented women having little to no control over their music struggle 2 make it in the industry for all to hear! Thank you Lisa for your, I'm sure, hard work & lovely input into this «business». I can’t wait for this new album!
