About Howard Fine
For over a quarter of a century, Howard Fine has built an unshakeable reputation as the "Best Acting Teacher in Los Angeles". He is highly sought after by actors, managers, agents, casting directors, producers, and directors, who know his coaching defines careers.
Howard has taught thousands of actors, some from the very beginning all the way to the Oscar podium. His roster includes stars such as Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Austin Butler, Kerry Washington, Gal Gadot, Michelle Williams, Justin Timberlake, Chris Pine, Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, Salma Hayek, and many more.
His reputation is built on remarkable expertise coupled with a unique gift to push and inspire on a personal level. Howard Fine all but explodes the stereotype of the screaming, bitter acting teacher that potential students fear. Instead his philosophy reflects that of mentor and close colleague Uta Hagen, and continues in his classes which seek to empower the actor. Howard still teaches his Acting Technique, Scene Study, and Audition courses, and has developed online programs suited to meet the needs of actors everywhere.

Thank you sir for this affirmation. I have been slowly but surely building a solid and professional home studio and working hard to master the skills of self-taping. Really appreciate your candor and positive approach to all you do - thank you.

The "no props" and "no miming" comments are in conflict with each other. What then should you do if the script calls for you to interact with an object?
i question the "holding the script" comment. absolutely be off book to the best that you can, but holding a script shows that it's not a finished performance. auditions are not a finished performance. if they see how great you are "with a script in hand", they know you will only be better without it.
It's Hard when you have agents and Managers saying you have to be off book all the time.
@@alexpling oh i know, but they really don't know. they are not in the audition rooms. i think they are assuming. they want you to be the best and know that being off script is good. but all the casting directors i have worked with would rather you have a script...not reading it word for word, but if you go up and there is no script around..you waste everyone's time.
doesn’t Haber advocate for holding the script?
