These coaches are now a history in Indian Railways and these coaches are the alterego of German,Swiss coaches and also Australia's Ghan Railway coaches are similar like it it's design is quite familiar with Africa's Rover Rail coaches, America's Central Railway coaches, Norfolk Railway coaches,etc.
Nowadays railway run these IRY-20 coaches as RDSO or inspection coach
The IRY-20 coaches bogie design is similar to the LHB coaches and it was used in shatabdi expresses but it was good for the passengers anyone in youtube can see its journey video from inside the coaches.

These coaches can be found in the Khanalmpura Marshalling yard near Saharanpur.
I think the coach used in WDAP-5's 150 kmph trials is one of these prototype coaches. It looks significantly different- not just its livery but the coach itself. It lacks that angled lower part that all LHB coaches- even T18 have.

LHB coach have top speed of 200km/hr provided they get proper brakes, tracks and capable engine. But in India they are run at 160km/hr as tracks not suitible.

IRF 20 coaches ko mass production karna chahiye tha 90 ke decades me, ussey ye benefit hota ki accidents ke case me kam nuksan hota.
Baad me phir Icf aur IRY type coaches ko hata kar LHB type coaches ko har train ke bogies me use karni chahiye.
The main structure of the coach look damn good and has much more features than modern ICF and LHB.
We can actually swap the ICF bogies with LHB ones with some basic design change .

there is one main reason why older ICF coaches could not be used on higher speeds.
See, ICF coaches were self-generating ie the wheels were connected to generators which would generate electricity via motion of wheels. they are connected by belts.
this meant, the loco has to use extra energy to get the coaches moving, and acceleration and deceleration was slower since there was the added weight / inertia of the wheel-based generators. also higher speeds was not economical as well as dangerous as these belts could get damaged at high speeds.
in LHB, the electricity generation is either via generator cars or via HOG so there is nothing connected to the wheels apart from brakes. so now the loco just had to get the coaches moving, accel / decel was much easier and higher speeds could be easily achieved since there isnt anything connected to the wheels.
another advantage is the CBC couplings used in LHB Vs the central simple hook and buffers on either side.
buffers and central hooks dont hold the coaches in place during derail and hence the coaches can get into one another.
CBC is very sturdy, and it keeps the coaches apart in case of any derailment ie they dont collapse into one another.

Honestly I have a special love for ICF Coaches. Spent a lot of my childhood in journeys by Gitanjali Express from Jamshedpur to Mumbai during Summer vacations in 1980's, 1990's. By the time I hit college in 2004, Gitanjali Express was one of the first few rakes to come with LHB coaches. :) Anyway Hit me up!

My date of birth is 06.06.2000 and according to the rly history in my birth year indian rlys introduced LHB coaches from Germany and I think they withdrawn the IRY-20 coaches in the year 1999, the same year which rly witnessed the biggest accident of its time the Gaisal Train accident and in my birth month I.e., 1st June is the birthday of Decca Queen Express the serving Queen of British-Indian Peninsula Railways.

The length of LHB coach from central of buffer is 24.0 m and that of ICF coach is 22.3 m. Hence 1.7 m more in length center to center. Say a length of 22 coach LHB train would be 528 m, excluding locomotives, whereas length of 24 coach ICF train is 535.20 m.

yeh baat toh hain bhai, vande bharat is something jisko aaj international recognition mil raha hain, aur 5-7 saal baad iske version aaram se international trains ke sath compete kar payenge.

IR 20 डिब्बे स्लीपर और सेकंड क्लास मे बनाकर देखना चाहिये कैसे चलते है?और झटकों की तकलीफ देनेवाले और बार बार कपलिंग टुटकर एक दुसरे से अलग होनेवाले घटीया , useless , fail एलएचबी कोचेस बंद होकर नये आयसीएफ कोचेस को स्टेनलेस स्टील मे बनाना चाहिये तब वो भी शायद १६० की स्पीड से चल सकते है.

Hi Shubham, the biggest reason for IR-AXX coaches were canned was The introduction of LHB coaches and the ministry of Railways was running in major losses, which meant they didnt want to invest in R&D as much as they are doing NOW. Understand that 1990-91 We were under the IMF program and had sold more than 20 Tonnes of Gold to keep the economy afloat. All the following governments tried to bring the economy back on track which meant cutting down funding for Research and Development in ALL major government Entities and concentrating on productivity. Hence LHB were introduced, thinking why spend on researching a technology which already is available. We could just spend a fraction of funds spent on R&D to to Transfer of Technology and get what was "sufficient" in 1990s and 2000's.. something like to handle 130-160 kmph and "improve" Passenger experience. Something like "agar yeh 2030 tak chal jaye, humara kaam ho jayega" We can discuss more.. If you want let me know :)
