This is what happens when two musical geniuses work together. Al Stewart wrote the song and Alan Parsons produced it. It really doesn't get any better than that. It's a work of art of the very highest level. 🙋‍♂ 🙋‍♂

You know, it's watching a young person discover this song that reminds me what an incredible composition and recording this was. Right from the piano intro (so powerful) to the drums and bass jumping in, and Al's vocals and storytelling. Then the strings and sax. Brilliant production. Yeah, might likely be on of the greatest songs ever recorded.

I lived this song. I dated a girl who had a cat. The cat acted like the most lovable thing I ever met. After we broke up, I was heart broken. I remember the cat. I remember how I was once deeply in love. In some time you are bound to leave her, but for now you are gonna stay, in the year of the girl with the cat. Amazing song writing by Al Stewart.

Al Stewart has been a favorite of mine for over forty years, so I was excited to find out he was playing in Sherman, TX, on July 20, as part of the city's Hot Summer Nights outdoor concert series. He was accompanied by a band from Chicago, The Empty Pockets, and they played an awesome show, with the biggest applause for this song, of course. It was especially amazing, considering he's going to be eighty (80) next year.

Hello, young lady ! What a reaction this was ! A wonderful reaction to a wonderful song, done by a lovely young woman ! What else could you wish for ? I can highly recommend to react to more songs from Al Stewart ! Try "Time passages" as the next song, you'll definitely love it as well as this one here. Al Stewart has tons of beautiful songs, like : Running man, Life in dark water, Song on the radio, Lord Grenville, Broadway Hotel... the list goes on an on. But "Time passages" is the perfect next Al Stewart song to react to.
Best wishes from Germany : Gerry

Never rated Time Passages, maybe because of Palace of Versailles and Man For All Seasons on the same album, two songs of remarkable quality, imv.

This is one of my mum's favourite songs. She was listening to this sort of music in the 1970s here in England.

This is my soundtrack of my life! The string section, the sax, the piano...I love it. The guitarist is Peter White, who went on to be a premiere smooth jazz king. Love his work!!

Everything looks good on you, Morenikeji. I don't know whether it's because you have great taste, or if it's because you're already so beautiful.

Great Reaction but Al Stewart is one of the most wonderfully talented lyricists of the 20th Century.
This is a Northern African Love Song set in the 1942 Film: Casablanca and lines like "She comes RUNNING in a silk dress, like a Water Colour in the rain" are genius because in Artwork, the colours "run" when wet like rain😀
