    You could probably do your own solid ice by freezing gallon jugs of water and packing it full as much as possible, and then add the water in the bottom and then cover that in whatever bagged ice you can to prevent gaps. Might last longer.

    Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install.This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    Other day i saw these guys adding salt to ice cubes to have it be colder and last longer for their beer .. maybe do that, and just add water as it gets consumed by unit as the ice will remain frozen from the salt? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Id test it first to make sure the added water doesn't freeze and then theres no water to suck up. That may fix the ice dilemma. My 0.2 cents.

    I know this video was made August 17th 2021, I hope you been able to improve its efficiency, but as I look at your review of this product this does not have an intake that to pull in air circulate and then push out the cold that's how an air conditioner really works. don't get me wrong, that's a great idea, I already have one of my own, now I see a different way to improve my own ice chest air conditioning unit. Thanks for the review. PS, You may want to cut a hole on the opposite side of your unit, to bring in some outside vented air put a filter on it so dust and dirt can't get inside. This will also improve your airflow output to cool you down.

    • @myemail2005
      @myemail2005 Рік тому +11

      I thought the same thing before I watched the video. Warm air never enters the interior of the unit. As explained in the video, cold water is pumped off the bottom and circulated through a radiator on the lid, just like in a car or a window air conditioner works. Warm, outside air is pulled into the ducting and across the radiator that is cooled by the cold water and then it exits the ducting to cool YOU!!! The result is NO outside air is ever introduced to the inside of the cooler, making the ice last longer. The water being sent back from the radiator is warmer, but not hot like the air outside. I am betting the water circulation is quick enough that only a little cold is lost. Does that make sense? Please upvote this comment if it helped?

    • @jasonsharpee6787
      @jasonsharpee6787 Рік тому +1

      @@jasonsharpee6787 In this instance, the air is cooled by being passed over a radiator. The radiator is cooled by a water pump. It's NOT a true air conditioner!. Having (A) heat exchanger doesn't make it a 'true' air conditioner. If they want to claim that it 'conditions' the air, well, then fine. The problem is that the system requires that you bring the "COLD" with you in the form of Cold-Cold or even Cold-Frozen water. Without citing any specific (well understood) thermodynamic cycle, a typical air-con cycle uses two (2) heat exchangers; one to absorb heat from the environment you wish to cool and a second heat exchanger to transfer that (absorbed) heat to a second, 'thermally' separate environment. This requires the use of at least one (1) compressor. Flip the thing around and you can also 'heat' an environment while cooling another.
    Evaporative cooling plays a minimum-to-zero part in the Icy Breeze cycle. However, this cycle is innovative in that it does, indeed, use a refrigerant cycle in the formation of the ice in the Cold-source you brought with you.
    Your Cold-source is a heat Sink. There's probably a recognized thermodynamic cycle and name for this, but I don't know what the name is.
    Temporary Cooling an Environment by exchanging that Environment's heat with that of a much Colder Heat Sink. It's not real-time, and cooling duration is dependent upon the capacity of the Heat Sink.

    Ok this comment is for ones who 1) dont mind spending money and 2) want a device that blows cold air! NOT cool a room… NOT replace an A/C system… NOT cool down a family of 10 on a 120 degree day! This device blows cold air on you PERIOD… Thats it! If that is what you want, an air conduit directed on you that cools you down, that is what this is… Nothing more nothing less… If it cools a small area then you have very welcoming circumstances for that to happen… Yes if you only use small chunks of ice your ice will melt super fast… Thats science! If you use big solid blocks of ice it lasts longer… If you use ice packs with ice blocks topped off with ice then WHOA! Even longer… If you want something different that will accomplish more then get something different that accomplishes more! For the price you can definitely get a black and decker ac unit that will cool a small room… Again that is not what this is for… Would it be nice if it was cheaper?? Well DUH! So would gas, eggs and car insurance… Oh and it is loud…

    I ordered the platinum version couple weeks ago. Talk about a life saver. Yeah, you can make 1 yourself but I can make 10 times the money I paid in the time it would take me to build it. People spend $400-$600 + on Yeti coolers and they DON’T DO THIS. When it’s 100 degrees outside in Louisiana it’s really nice to cozy up to some cool air. That’s the real purpose of this thing. I don’t believe it was ever intended to replace an air conditioner but it comes damn close when you’re outside or at the beach. If it fits your budget give it a whirl. I’m glad I did for sure.

For $350 I can buy a small window AC unit from Lowes ($150) and pay the remaining $200 towards a 2000 watt mini generator, which $200 would be 1/2 the price of that. Using a couple wires with alligator clips, any large battery could probably make the fan in this unit work. The battery doesn't need to be an exact size fit or voltage match. I run the headlight of my minibike with an 18 volt drill battery using wires and alligator clips. I've got a set of motorcycle batteries that were supposed to run my electric scooter...same thing...just attach wires and alligator clips and it runs other things besides the scooter.

    This is why I am so glad I have an education in engineering. Always remember that energy cannot me created or destroyed. This product looks brilliant to me but that’s just because I know how energy works. I was already aware that cooling the hot air around you comes at the expense of the ice in the cooler. So you obviously need to load it up with as much solid ice as possible, but also, that you are done when all the ice is melted and the water is at ambient temperature. Longevity is directly proportional to the weight of the water you freeze. Also, think of it this way - turning this thing on is actually worse than leaving your cooler WIDE OPEN. How long does your ice last if your cooler is wide open? Now cut that in half. That’s all the time you have with this. Lastly, ice can be expensive. You may not realize this, but putting a bunch of gallons of water in your freezer can be expensive. But maybe this is worth it. Hope that helped.
