- Short games truly are a thing of beauty for the working, tired, and time-restricted person. As a person who checks all those boxes, I've found a lot of comfort in shorter games like Stray and other Indie games as I've entered adulthood. Enjoy and let me know some of your favorite short games in the comments!

I’ve been saying this for years. I’d rather have a short but packed game over a long and bare game like Ubisoft releases.
Facts and it’s something that I’ve come to realize over the years, I used to value length now I value quality

I definitely prefer shorter games. I want to be immersed in the story, and bigger games do lose a bit when the story is dragged for so long
For sure! Some games are deff exceptions but the short length of games can be more satisfying with maintaining the feels haha
Stray, ori, death's door, one shot are just some of the short indie games that have proven more worth to me than most triple As. Short immersive stories with great music.

@@thoughtsfromtheshower I'll vouch for One Shot as well! I don't want to say anything about it, but it's $10 on Steam and Overwhelmingly Positive (98% Recent and All)
Ori isn't particularly short
Shadow of colossus, senua, ico, stray. These are games pack quite a punch. But, when I boot witcher, persona, etc. games filled with missables it feels a huge fucking chore
Sometimes out of random, UA-cam recommends me a "unpopular" video.. Just saw yours and I was amazed on the quality of it.. Loved the video content and I super agree with you

I’ve been playing ori recently on Xbox. It’s really amazing; and it certainly benefits being on the shorter side. Such good games, I wish bigger developers didn’t drag their games out so much.
Let’s goooo!! I’m a third of the way through Ori and then put it on my backlog, gotta get back into it after I finish sea of stars…Hifi Rush was also amazing on Xbox 🔥

Great video! One of my favorite short games is Signalis. Though on a first play through it might take over 10 or 12 hours, on subsequent ones (which are ABSOLUTELY worth it, this game is pure art and I mean that literally) it takes about half that.
I’m also a fan of shmups since they take 30 or 40 minutes to “beat”, my favorite being Touhou 18. I know I can always boot it up and have fun no matter how much time I have

Some recommendations: Tunic, Bugsnax, Slay the Princess, Superliminal, Roboquest, Sable
Also, Shadow of the Colossus is one of my all time favorites! Though, I like it for the opposite reason as you- exploration is my favorite aspect of video games and I loved the quiet half of the game spent traveling. That said, the boss battles are fantastic and imo the best gaming has to offer
It seems like pacing is really a big thing you value. Also something that most studio have trouble executing well.

Portal 2 (assume you’ve probably played this though)
All 2-8 hours. Perfectly paced, and super high quality. And pseudoregalia being an easy 10/10 across the board. Give them a go.

A great short game is Gato Roboto. I binged that game and 100%ed it in about 7 hours but it was absolutely worth the couple of bucks I paid for it.
I'd also recommend Celeste. It is paced really well, and you can feel satisfied after beating a chapter, which helps combat that game binging I am prone to. You can kind of set your own difficulty/time commitment too by deciding which extras to go after.

You should play the order 1886. You can get it very cheap these days. It’s 5-7 hours. Very pretty, very fun, cool story. Got hated for its length at launch because it was a full priced Sony exclusive. Easily worth your money now.
Just played through superliminal, that’s an amazing 5 hour game for cheap if you are looking for more. Been picking away at persona 5 for 3 years lol! At the third palace. I thinkn there are some medium length games also like dead space and resident evil series. Agree that for some of these longer ones like jrpgs I just want to blitz through the narrative since they drag.
I don't know if anyone else said this, but based on your words I believe you will love Furi.
Also SOMA is one of my favorite experiences in a game.

@@thoughtsfromtheshower Hard as nails, but it's basically a boss rush with exposition and a sick OST. 100% recommended.
Soma is a masterpiece
My most favorite games have been long games like God of War/The Last of Us series as well as others. However now I feel like with me trying to beat Red dead 2 it’s so time consuming that I feel like I’m not making much progress when I get on. So instead I’ve played some indie games and found Super Liminal and it was a treat, I really recommend it. It all depends on how much time your willing/able to spend on a game and how much your invested in the story/gameplay.
I’m working on ragnarok now, I think those games also have a great length similar to the Spider-Man games, and I’ll be sure to check out super liminal!

Katana Zero is a short game I really, REALLY suggest you check out. The story is beautiful and the game is only around 8 hours
I’m almost done with it actually! Also playing Nine Sols right now, not pixel art but 2D art it’s awesome

Hollow knight (its on the longer end of "short games" about 30 hours if you focus on story)
