Honestly, I don't envy you in that cold MN weather. I lived in Eagan last year and only experienced a "mild winter" according to local standards, temps dipped ONLY a couple times below zero. MN is a nice place live but very happy to be living in warm Carolinas now. I had my top down in my Boxster today.
James I sold both my 991.1 base and dodge durango R/T and bought a Macan S so I could have a daily porsche driver. I did the Cobb stage 1 tune and added another 100 ft-lbs and it's a rocket ship. I'll buy a cayman or boxster in about a year as my weekend/track car soon enough. My Macan is A GREAT DAILY DRIVER.
We just took delivery of a new Defender. When the rubber hits the road (pun intended), I just don’t get high performance SUVs... other than the high MARGINS they make for automakers.
Yes, I agree, you won’t get the fun factor in a Base Macan. I have the Macan S, and I can say that you get a lot of fun in that one, combined with massive practicality. The best of both worlds. I had been thinking about a 911 as my next car, but have a very hard time leaving that combination of fun + practicality... My next car will be a Macan GTS. The Macan GTS is the perfect compromise, in my view.
Haha. Oh mate, it was soooooo cold!! 🥶 After I took just 5 mins of exterior shots my hands were frozen stiff. I had to sit in the car with them on the heater for about 15 mins before taking the drone shots. 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Nice video, I did a piece on the Cayenne s with the Rs5 engine here in Scotland, unbelievable how Porsche has made these drive and ride so well. Would definitely consider one for family duties alongside the 981. 👍
Hello from sunny Florida, man is getting hotter and hotter here, I bought 4 new tires for my 911 and while I had them installed at the dealership, I got a loaner “The Macan”, disappointing. Dude, stick with the basis, 911 is your main point of attraction, are you running out of material??? Love your videos, 911 videos, good work, keep it up, thank you for all your hard work, very enjoyable.
Haha. Thanks! 911s are my passion but I love getting my hands on any kind of Porsche and if I have a chance to get out of the house and make a video - I'm game! :-)
Good video. I've been watching your channel for awhile now and you do a great job. I think the base Macan is a good vehicle. Nothing wrong with that for a DD. I'd drive it. Keep up the good work.
Awesome review! Would like you to address my dilemma, if you could, with a Macan S review for comparison. My scenario: own a 991.2, but want a Macan for a daily and not take away from the specialness of the weekend 911. Also, the more economical the daily the better to justify to the wife:) What's the best combo? Base Macan in the $57k or jump to the $75k Macan S? Do you have to have the S or does the reward of Friday drive in the 911 make it worth it? I've looked at used Macans, but prefer the new tech and styling.
Thanks! I would get the Macan S (which starts at $62k) to give you 350 hp. Then spend $1k on a Cobb tune and see yourself get up to 450 hp magically. 🤩👍
With one person in the car, it feels fine. But how does it feal when you have a passenger and maybe one in the back. I would say the Mecan is the entry level porsche for single people or couples just starting out who have the means to buy a porsche. They don't have kids yet, maybe a dog. And need to commute to work. Porsche has done a great job of designing vehicles for all aspects to different markets. This being a great example. Not me, but say some one late 20's early 30's.

Good for you Tom!! I’m glad you got the S. You would have been completely underwhelmed by the base.

NIIIIIICE!! Good for you!
Just caught up with the last 3 videos, excellent as always, it looks a bit colder than the uk at the moment 🥶🤣, take care James, no Ruthie 🙁.

Q. What is missing?
A. The fun, and a Porsche should be fun.
Right on.
You are not going to get fun on a Base model... You need the S and above... Then, we can talk.
Good to see you doing a car review again, James- although looked a bit chilly!

I’d love to give the Cayenne S a go. The base I just drove was excellent and almost more than enough car. The S must be great! Cheers. 🏴
@@AutoAmateur 👍 only issue is fuel consumption in the UK 😭

Oh definitely!! A solid luxury daily for sure. Thanks!! 🙌
Thanks James, the Macan is very comfy and looks great...🦘🦘🦘
Great video James.
Thank you mate! 🙌🙌🙌
