Being a retired farm guy, I have seen many accumulators. However, never one like this....I am curious. Is it necessary to have that much upward angle coming from the baler, for this to work correctly?

You need to get some of the updates on the accumulator. There's a roller to put on top of cute and some taps to go on the arms that turn the bales.
The accumulater is fine , he needs a new baler that makes consistent bales .

Would have enjoyed seeing the skid steer in action, actually I would have enjoyed it more if it was me in there loading those bales.

*How frequently does this malfunction occur, and what causes it to release the load of bales after the last one is loaded?*
When the last bale comes down there is a trigger that the bale hits and it triggers the gate. It hardly malfunctions.

The last bale triggers the tail gate latch to open the tail gate, perfect bale size keeps it from malfunctioning. We rarely have problems.
